The room was lovely. The bed was large and comfortable. The AC worked well. The fridge was regularly topped up with large bottles of water and a selection of soft drinks. The room had a good balcony overlooking the sea and a space to enjoy magnificent sunsets. The staff are very friendly, hardworking and patient. There are plenty of activities throughout the day if you wish to partake; otherwise, there are three pools and a children's waterpark. As it was not peak season during my visit, there was never any problem getting a sun lounger, there was always space in the restaurant, bars and lounge area, but these can become busy when a tropical storm hits in the day. The hotel backs onto a beautiful beach which is safe to walk along; although there are some locals just beyond the hotel fencing trying to sell their goods, they weren't pushy and left me alone once I made it clear that I was not going to buy anything or book a trip. The sunset at the beach attracts many people from the hotel and surrounding properties to get those insta worthy shots!

The hotel could not help me book a transfer back to the airport. They recommended I go onto the road and speak to some Tuk-Tuk drivers. I ended up booking through a taxi app. The hotel claims to offer toiletries, but I don't believe a 5* hotel should only have bars of soap and a 2-in-1 dispenser on the wall that looks like dish soap. There should be an environmentally friendly alternative. This is my second visit to the hotel, and some of the facilities (sun loungers, furniture and building exterior) are looking a little tired and need a freshen-up. My room was close to the main stage for the entertainment, meaning there was no chance of getting any sleep before 11 pm as it was like the band was in my room with me. The gym needs a free weights section.

We did not feel comfortable with the fact that there were Russian tourists staying there.

All meals were great and the staff serving there was great

The staff at the pool bar. A huge disapointment. Not interested in giving service to someone who don't shout out and wave with arms to get attention. After trying three times at different ocassions to order from the pool bar I gave up. Other guests coming after me got help but staff totally ignored me. I will NOT recommend the pool bar if you want good service, as the other staff did know how to do.

The breakfast options was disappointing Stayed three nights but no options of string hoppers or hoppers Having milk rice on two consecutive days was disappointing

We had a great vacation. We arrived at the hotel long before the check-in time, but the wonderful staff did everything to make our waiting time as short as possible. We got to the room already at 13:20. The territory of the hotel was spacious, clean and green. The whole hotel is very clean. The size of the room was great, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The air conditioning system worked great. The food is varied and very tasty. Would definitely come back here again and again.

The only thing that was a little disturbing was that very early in the morning the cleaning staff was driving a cleaning cart along the corridors, these noises were very audible in the room.

Amazing hotel and staff, we moved from citrus wasakuda where we took all inclusive package and booking .com showed me mini bar in room but my mini bar was empty. I riu it was full and also water from Aquafina. The riu hitel had three meals but if you missed them the hotel had so many snack outlets 24/7 . Amazing large beach front , superstructure kids and adult pools , amazing bar, all kind of drinks were free pina coladas, mojito and you name it, they would even make one as per my request. Unlimited champagne.

They have separate Asian n Italian restaurants but in main restaurants they don’t serve lamb or sea food like prawns and lamb shacks, they need to serve such foods at least on weekends when hotel was full. Three days the fish was only mahi mahi:( They had great evening shows and lot of activities for adults n kids throughout the day

The food. The hotel only catered for the foreigners not for Sri Lankans which was a shame.

Location, food and staff were fantastic. Our second time staying there and loved it. Better than the first time two years ago. Nightly Entertainment was great - band and performances. Ruwan was fantastic when he hosted us in several of the restaurants dinner, lunch or breakfast sittings.

Looking a little run down in parts. Water on stairs, paintwork on facade facing the beach. Harassment by tuk tuk drivers as you leave the hotel gates - very annoying and intimidating. Gym needs some free weights and better hours. Band Crossroads were great but they played the same songs each night…need more variation.
