We loved the location. It was clean and comfortable. The pool is fantastic

The extra taxes and service charges make eating in the restaurants very expensive and you don’t really know what it is going to cost. I would rather the service charge wasn’t included, leaving me free to tip quality service. I tend not to tip if there is a service charge. We actually didn’t know what all the taxes were as at other places there was just a tax and sometimes a service charge here there seemed to be an extra one.

no Honeymooner benefits placed they only make welcome bed decoration despite of requesting it in advance and also to provide one dozen bouquet flower arrangements requested prior arrival NOT done. Eventhough I told in the email that I will pay for it. No Honeymooner Cake, No Bathtub petals & bubble bath during turndown services which we requested.

It was an exceptional experience. The rooms were incredibly spacious, providing ample comfort and relaxation. I was fortunate to stay on the 23rd floor, and the view from there was simply phenomenal. The sight of the sea and the cityscape was breathtaking, especially from the bathtub, which perfectly met my expectations. The weather during my stay was windy and cold, adding a unique charm to the overall experience. It made the cozy ambiance of the room even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel or anyone looking for a memorable stay with stunning views.

Unbelievably good pool on the roof. Excellent buffet breakfast. Comfortable room and good bathroom.

Some pointless technology in the room like the Japanese toilet. Pillows were plastic - never seen this before ever! Very loud air con. Staff were not great at reception - refused to give advice on restaurants or tuk tuks but happy to charge 4 times more for their own services. Also would only give us one key card which meant one of us had to use a torch in the room if the other was out. I have never had to use a torch in a 4/5 star hotel before!

We booked the Granbell Hotel in Colombo for 9 nights stay. We found the hotel reception staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel, and our room was very clean and well maintained. We loved our ocean view room, the spacious bathroom, Japanese soaking bathtub and the shower. We also enjoyed the hotel infinity pool and the pool bar where we had drinks in a very lively atmosphere. Granbell is a very busy hotel full of tourists but the staff work very hard to accommodate customer needs and provided us excellent service to which we are very grateful. We like to convey our deepest gratitude and a massive thank you to the hotel reception staff, cleaning staff and all the other staff who does their very best to look after Granbell customers. Thank you.

Wished there was a closet in the room and a few more drawers since only 2 drawers were available and could benefit with a closet for long stays as we stayed for 9 nights. Also it is helpful to have an iron board and an iron in the room due to limited availability to burrow the iron.

The staff!!!! I can't begin to thank them all for their welcome and making my stay so wonderful!! I loved every single person I met and think they make the place so good. I also liked the infinity pool a lot, beautiful views of both sides of the city. The room was fabulous and so big.

As much as I loved the hotel and staff, unfortunately, there was a strong smell of cigarettes and smoke in my room, which really took down my experience loads. I wish they could put smoking or non-smoking on the room categories as you book because this way, I could have avoided this room. I am sensitive to smoke, and my throat swollens up. It is therefore important for someone like me to know those beforehand. This resulted in me staying out of the room as much as possible, which is sad as it is really an incredible room! Other than this problem, everything else was amazing!

I was in an oceanview room and the view was incredible - was so lovely to sit in the room or have a bath and be able to see the ocean. It was also fun to be able to see the trains arriving and departing from the train station below. I found it quiet - you would occasionally hear a horn from the train or traffic below, but that didn't bother me. The air conditioner was good and I liked that there was also a ceiling fan. The pool was lovely - great views over the city and the ocean. The breakfast was tasty and there were lots of different options. Overall I loved my stay and was sad to leave - would definitely recommend.

Breakfast could start a little bit earlier - maybe at 630 rather than 7? There wasn't heaps of space for storing luggage.

The whole hotel is beautiful, clean and high end. The pool on the roof is breathtaking and the rooms are luxurious. The staff is very kind, helpful and make sure you have a pleasant stay. Moreover, the food is great.

The added expenses/ charges when ordering are quite extensive - adding around 30% on top. As female travelers, we also unfortunately have to report of one male staff member contacting one of us through private Instagram without speaking before. He must have searched in the hotel data for the full name which crosses data privacy and is highly unprofessional.

The rooftop pool gives you a beautiful sea view and sunset hour is wonderful (btw the pool is open until late)! The bar near the pool is also great and they serve delicious food, a must try. During our stay we also tried the sushi restaurant for lunch which we really liked although the wine list should be modified. As for the rooms they were clean while the bathroom was really spacious.

The check-in process was kind of disappointing: the concierge isn't really present and the process of getting our bags and checking in wasn't the smoothest. Beds were a bit hard to sleep on and the elevators are slow.

I liked the location and the overall vibe of the hotel. It is very new and contemporary in its aesthetic and presentation. My room was well designed and very lovely. I enjoyed the roof top bar and the roof top pool areas including the great service and food menu on offer not to mention the all day clubbie music that provided this chill vibe. I really enjoyed eating at the Japanese restaurant - it surprised me with how good the food was there.

I did not expect the hotel to be so "crowded" - granted it is great to see a hotel with full occupancy however the breakfast areas were over crowded and the experience became blemished as it felt like a canteen. The pick up and drop off zones down on the street felt similarly chaotic and there was no clear pleasant areas to sit as it was just one big area and the on site security staff appeared to hang there 24/7 doing nothing and there were too many people smoking in the one area.
