From the very first moment we entered Taru Villas I knew it was going to be a special stay. The staff were so welcoming and helpful and the whole villa felt like a home and the decor and artwork were fantastic and on point. The location was great with easy access to all the shops and restaurants but away enough to create a calm oasis on the inside.

It would be good if they could put in air con in the bathrooms / toilets. The fan was on constantly but due to the weather being hot & humid it really did not make much of an impact in cooling the bathroom down. However, in the whole scheme of things this was not too unbearable, and it is only an observation, not a complaint. It would be great if they could provide a small fridge in each bedroom to keep the water/drinks chilled.

Absolutely beautiful property, wonderful room, gorgeous gardens - I never wanted to leave! Staff were very kind and hospital and food was delicious. I would absolutely stay here again.

There were three very small things: 1. I requested the Sri Lankan breakfast the night before, as instructed, but this wasn't passed on to the kitchen team, which meant it was not available. Communication between staff could improve in this respect. 2. I had a slight issue with payment after my bankcard was swallowed by an ATM machine. I think a business of this size should be set up to take American Express. 3. As a suggestion, it would be great if the hotel could work with a local provider to offer massages in rooms.

One of the most beautiful hotel rooms I’ve stayed in, spacious, beautifully decorated/furnished, super comfortable bed with buttery soft sheets and squishy pillows. We stayed in the sea view room with bath and It was such a treat to have a hot bath! Shower was also excellent. Breakfast was delicious and huge - little things like having proper strawberry jam and good bread made all the difference - pool small but beautiful, our trip was made even better by a group of monkeys playing in the tree by the pool! The staff at this place are impeccable, super friendly and helpful, little things like putting ceiling fans on by default if we sat down on the sofas made all the difference. If we could have stayed longer we absolutely would have.

Couple of minor things to feedback - The mosquito net was quite dusty where the aircon blows onto it - needs cleaning. Hairdryer missing in our room which was a shame. Aircon was good but it is stuck blowing directly onto the bed which isn’t ideal for us and in the night it started making a super loud high pitched noise which we eventually got to stop - would suggest that aircon unit might need replacing or servicing soon. But none of these things took away from the good stay we had.

Absolutely loved my stay. Staff were amazing, the room was lovely, food was good - for breakfast the food was never ending! I got room service quite late at night and it was never too much trouble for staff. I only stayed one night but could have stayed for another couple of nights. Location is amazing - right inside the Fort so I walked around lots & they gave me some nice recommendations for lunch and dinner. Overall, a great experience if you want somewhere clean, friendly and quiet.

Nothing - I liked everything

Splendid villa with spacious rooms, attentive staff and excellent food. Bed was very comfy and bathtub was a nice touch. lovely light. On arrival asked for jackfruit curry and they went 8 km outside town to find some and then prepared 6 different styles of jackfruit,..and served chilled fresh jackfruit next day. Also served tasty mangoes. 5 mn walk go to Lanka spa for fantastic massage. Masseur JM Eranga 51 PedlarSt..+94(0)714330663...TaxiGo Airport cabs very reliable and reasonable for trip to Galle...1 hr 45 mn drive ...24800 LKR including tolls...Francis the driver is great,,,fluent in English, knowledgeable and attentive. Fort Dew Inn next door has a nice rooftop restaurant/bar with excellent curries...made to order but worth the wait while gazing over seascape

Pool is tiny.

At 4 rooms, this is a tiny hotel that feels more like having your own private Villa and household staff. Shanikat and his team both provide excellent service and anticipate so many potential needs that it sometimes makes your trip planning feel obsolete (think candles, lunchboxes, and arranging travel). The interior spaces and courtyard are beautiful and invite you to spend your days lounging here. We enjoyed watching monkeys, lizards, and various birds in the garden. Chef Manjula and Sous Chef Lucky always impressed us with their cooking. Dining in was one of the best food experiences in town.

The location was superb, we could walk across to the Neptune Bastion, and also to the streets filled with cafe's restaurants, and small boutiques. The staff and the chef were superb and quick to respond to our expectations. Both dinner and breakfast were delightful especially the Sri Lankan cuisine, which the chef explained in great detail. It was like staying in our own home, and a luxury to come home to, after a hot day out in the sun.

The exceptional staff who were so friendly and welcoming, the beautifully decorated room, the lush bedding, the cool pool, the delicious breakfasts. The oil burner in the room. The whole ambience. Late checkout.

The unfortunate dates that we chose because they clashed with noisy days at the school next door. Not the hotel’s fault, I know! I had to ask for the bathroom conditioner to be refilled as it was empty on arrival and the shower drain needed cleaning. These were promptly dealt with. Having to ring the bell to enter the hotel - the bell can be heard from the rooms. None of these caused us any trouble but for the price of the stay it’s worth considering how to improve upon these areas.

This hotel is steeped in history, and is adorned with the most beautiful art work and original features, the entire hotel has a lovely aroma of chamfer wood and our room was beautifully spacious and sumptuous with the biggest bathroom I have ever seen. The food was fantastic the staff were all ultra helpful and friendly, the Sun loungers and pool were perfect and we would definitely stay here again. Whilst we were there my wife had a birthday, and by prior arrangement they provided a beautiful bouquet of flowers and wine, and also made a lovely birthday cake, which we were sadly too full to do justice.

Our room door was difficult to lock, and you needed to pull it very hard whilst locking it, or it could easily be left locked with the door not properly closed, so basically open, but everything felt safe and secure and the room did have a safe. The hotel also didn’t have a license to serve alcohol, but they would gladly fetch it for you on request.

The location is excellent to pop into Galle. Supper was absolutely delicious. Some friends joined us and they had been travelling around for 2 weeks and they said it was the best meal they had had in Sri Lanka.. Breakfast also excellent. The room was very comfortable right next to the swimming pool. Bathroom large and spacious we were only then for 1 night but would love to have stayed longer.
