The villas are absolutely gorgeous and the scenery is breathtaking. All the staff are friendly, humble, professional and extremely accommodating, from the reception & restaurant staff, through to the gardener who proudly showed us his herb/vegetable garden. If you are looking for a 5 star resort without the 5 star price tag and pretentious staff, then this is the place for you! The resort offers a car service which is EXCELLENT along with the best tasting food in all the restaurants we dined at on the Island. We fell in love with Koh Samui and it’s people, so we will be back and will stay at Ammatara when we return.

The villa, pool and grounds were beautiful. The staff were so friendly and we loved the breakfast.

Unfortunately there was a lot of rubbish on thr beach and floating in the water after the rainy season and the resort uses bottled water. Would be good to have water filters, less bottles and no plastic straws.

First of all, our 2 bedroom beach villa was like stepping into a life you could only dream of. It’s very traditional Thai. You can see COVID has taken a bit of a toll with maintenance and upkeep (like everywhere else on the planet) but it is exquisite. Lamai beach is gorgeous. No need for shoes, as there is an abundance of beach restaurants on the beachfront. Black Pearl was wonderful. The standout feature of this resort is it’s staff. If you meet Nan, you’ll be blown away by her quirky friendliness. She is in a class of her own and we mentioned she was the highlight of our trip and an asset to this hotel. (you’ll see), another standout was Nong who manages this hotel. She is so sweet and kind. Nothing is a problem. When you check in, you are assigned a WhatsApp contact, which is a first for me, so if you need anything, you are delivered an answer in about 30 seconds😊 Brilliant hotel, 10 our of 10 🙏

Needs better outdoor chairs, not plastic, but more traditional chairs

This place has a huge wow factor. Staying in the sea view pool villa was such a dream. The entire property was absolutely gorgeous and we loved how we always felt like there were not 12 million other guests here as well everything was peaceful and tranquil. Breakfast was definitely one of the best we had in Thailand. Waffles and pancakes actually tasted like they’re supposed to taste like. Staff was incredibly attentive and even offered you mosquito spray at sunset. they let our daughter feed the fish and offered balls and items to play with around the pool. Loved how you could WhatsApp the lobby with your questions, so efficient! would definitely stay again, we all loved it!

like everywhere else in Thailand, the hard beds seem to kill your back (but a great massage salon is around the corner) the property is right at the very end of lamai and in the evening it’s not really exciting, so you definitely have to walk for 15 min or so. also the property is not really suitable for less able people. our rooms were only accessible by climbing stairs and to get in and out of the property to the main road, you have to walk 2 steep driveway hills. after spending a few days here, you do notice the place is aging and could do with some upkeep here and there. however, nothing of this stood in the way of feeling completely blown away and like we were royals on a holiday!

We stayed in the 2-bedroomed beachfront villa and it was outstanding. The whole hotel is like walking within the grounds of an ancient palace. The breakfast every morning was delicious and it was handy that we could WhatsApp our order to the reception rather than completing their form. In fact, the WhatsApp system made our lives very simple. We could not fault any of the staff, they were all lovely and very helpful. Our villa was HUGE and continued with the palace feel - both bedrooms were identical and again HUGE! There were four of us staying and we all had a shower each as there are two in each room. The washing machine came in handy as it meant we weren't packing dirty clothes when we moved on to our next destination. A MASSIVE THANK YOU to EVERYONE at AMMATARA PURA.

This is a stunning hotel, everything you would expect from a five star hotel service and facilities , The hotel itself is styled like an authentic Thai palace/Temple which is both peaceful and beautiful, The suite we stayed in was generously sized/huge and styled tastefully internally, outdoor shower and a huge internal bath, fully fitted kitchen area. Outside it had its own 18m2 plunge pool and relaxation area. Quick reliable WiFi and good T. V The breakfast was served at our table from choices we made ala carte the previous day, there was so much food it looked like a banquet presented to us and we hadn't even chosen all the available options to us, The hotel leads directly on to lamai beach so it perfectly located and it's entrance sits just off at the end of the main strip so just a short walk to the multitude of lovely restaurants and fun bars and shops We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a month long trip to Thailand and my wife and I both agreed that this hotel was one of the best hotels we stayed at this trip and will definitely book again if we stay in Lamai in the future

Great location, amazing staff with massive rooms with everything you could want. Even managed to wash our clothes before we went home. Cocktails and evening meals are good value. Would definitely come back. Breakfast was outstanding. I prefer A la carte over buffet and it did not disappoint. Try the pancakes and waffles 🧇 😃 Would definitely come back again.x

It would be beneficial to update the plug sockets in the rooms with usb sockets. The rain shower and shower head could do with replacing but these are just minor things. Minor things, there is some general maintenance that could be performed, signs of wear and tear on some building features, pool tiles missing and some of the sunbed covers are more worn than others.

Beautiful property, very large, comfortable & superb room. All the staff helpful & incredibly friendly.

Breakfast a bit ordinary compared to others but plenty of other options nearby.

- Peaceful location - Staff were excellent and constantly on hand to make your stay the best it could be - Pool area and beach was lovely - Villas were very spacious - Location was far enough away to be quiet but walking distance from all the bars and restaurants you could need - Friendly Thai boxing camp outside the gates to work up an appetite for breakfast

- Some areas of the hotel were showing their age - The hill to get out of the hotel could be challenging if you are obese or struggle with mobility (we found walking onto beach and going through the hotel Aloha worked well)

The room was amazing. so big and well cleaned. our villa overlooked the gardens of the hotel and the beach front. the main pool and bar had steps down to the beach with a tap to clean your feet. location was just out the centre of lamai but only a short walk. staff were friendly and helpful. reception more than happy to help with cars to get to places. thai massages can be booked. they were good but be prepared as they use firm hands to get your knots out. but worth it.

breakfast is a bit slow and bitty. you order what u want for the next day and in the morning give your room number and they just bring stuff out as and when it is ready. (the toast is erm just slightly heated bread)
