Rumi Hotel

Location was good, as it was on the outskirts of Konya. Well within walking distance of the main sights. The Mevlana complex is across the road, and other museums around Alaadin Hill about 25 minutes walk. Lovely coffee shops and restaurants nearby, too, plus bazaars with lots of different shops. The staff are great, really friendly and helpful. Thank you to Ahmed for driving us around for the day to Çatalhöyük, Killistra and Sille. It was a long day driving, but he was a cheerful companion throughout. The breakfast is varied, with hot and cold dishes and lots of choice. Very pleased we chose the Rumi Hotel.

Everything was great!

We liked everything. The location was perfect. The hotel was just a few minutes walking from Mevlana Musezi and the Selimiye Camii. The parking place reserved for our car was just near the main entrance, which was a real blessing. We just parked the car and visited Konya on foot. All the main places of interest were at a walking distance. The staff were very friendly and very communicative. They helped us by giving useful information. It was really a perfect stay in Konya and at the Rumi Hotel. Thank you.

The breakfast here is a feast. The usual breakfast foods of cereal eggs and toast and juice accompanied by a riot of fresh fruits and vegetables along with Turkish delights such as tahini and molasses, Konya cheese ( think Roquefort) simit (Turkish round bread with sesame seeds) ,a variety of olives and cooked foods. The hardest part was deciding what to eat. The magical setting of the restaurant is what places it in prime position. While you enjoy your meal you have a rooftop view of Rumi's shrine and mosque as well as that of Sultan Selim Ii. The staff are amazing with a special shout out to Ahmet who will do everything possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible. If you are in Konya to visit the burial place of Rumi, this is the best location because it is a 3 minute walk away.

This hotel is in the middle of the old city near many of the historical sites. Huge traditional markets to explore with traditional spaces and new merging together seamlessly. Lots of choice, easy access into and out of the area with trams, buses and taxis. The hotel is painted light blue and easy to spot on the horizon. Can get busy in the area. Breakfast provided with our booking was exceptional, lots of choice, fresh and healthy. Very Turkish cuisine with cheeses, olives, vegetables etc, plus pastries, breads and lots to put on them. We booked a larger room and it was well worth the price with a lounge, bedroom etc. We will be staying here again. There is an amazing restaurant upstairs straight across from the hotel entrance above a gift shop. Best restaurant in Turkiye, which we visit every time we stay in Konya. An added bonus for staying in this property.

Loved this property

The location was perfect, just a block away from the Mevlana Museum, and steps away from many nice restaurants. Our twin room was tastefully decorated and comfortable, with a closet, safe, desk and enough floor space for our bags and an armchair. The night was quiet. You could hear a bit of traffic outside the window in the morning, but not too early. The bathroom was large and had a proper tub so the floor didn't get wet like it does at many other hotels in Turkey. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, varied and delicious. The restaurant contains plenty of separate seating areas so you can keep your distance from others. The panoramic view of the Mevlana museum buildings and grounds, Rumi's tomb, the Selimiye mosque and the surrounding city from the restaurant was fantastic and uplifting. Even after the breakfast is over you can go up to sit there and enjoy the view. There is also a nice bathroom there. Best of all, the restaurant manager and hotel concierge Fevzi Bey is extremely sweet, caring, helpful and welcoming. I plan to stay at Rumi Hotel again. Be sure to reserve at least one year in advance for the final 2-3 days of the dervish ceremony in Dec. as they get fully booked for that.

My main complaint was that the cleaning staff smoked in the utility room right across from our room and even though the window of the utility room was open, the smoke came into our non-smoking room and aggravated my asthma. I complained to management and they said they would take care of it. Also, the bathroom was fine and large but could use a bit of renovation. I recommend the hotel provide a stand for luggage so that we don't have to leave it on the floor; that was not a big deal for us but might be hard for people with back problems.

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Rumi. This is a must-stay property in Konya and bang for the buck. The hotel is 2 minutes walking from all the major landmarks with many restaurants and shops for souvenir shopping around the hotel. We were upgraded to a suite and the room was gorgeous with the views of Mevlana Museum and Sultan Selim Mosque. The breakfast was quite good with, again, the views of the charming Konya monuments. The staff are very courteous and one of the biggest pluses is the free parking behind the hotel.

Everything was amazing and no compliants

The hotel position was perfect for our interests - close to Mevlana cultural centre for the Saturday whirling Dervish ceremony, the Mevlana museum, the fascinations and wonderful foods at Bedestan Bazaar, Aladdin Hill and mosque and the fascinating Karatay Madrasa museum. Ahmet at reception was very helpful and kind, booking bus tickets to Antalya for us and arranging for Victor to drive us to The Butterfly museum, to Sille Village and to the archeological site of Catalhoyuk, a totally fascinating neolithic village. Victor is a very good driver, good company and speaks English. The good buffet breakfast had something for everyone and this room has great views over part of the old town and mosques. We were very happy at Rumi hotel.

The location is very good to explore the place. Breakfast provided with generous choice of local meal options on the terrace with the view of the city sightseeing. There is free parking available at the hotel. We arrived late but a friendly concierge was available on our arrival to check in.

We copied and pasted the address from the confirmation on booking.com app that brought us to a different location. However, once the name of the hotel added, it was a straight forward added time to get to the place.

Absolute gem of a hotel and one to which we intend to return should we ever return to Konya. Location wise the Rumi can't be beaten - listening to the call to prayer at dusk whilst being able to look out at the Mevlana compound from our bedroom window was magical - but what really sets the Rumi apart is its staff, all of whom made us feel GENUİNELY welcome. (İt's amazing how a simple, again, GENUİNE smile in the absence of a common spoken language can make such a huge difference to one's hotel experience and leave you feeling more like a welcome guest as opposed to just another paying customer.) So, 10/10 for location, cleanliness, breakfast etc but extra, very well deserved points for the welcome.

The fact that our seven nights were over and we had to leave.

It's location, across the Mevlana Square, walking distance to the Bazaar & surrounded by restaurants, is perfect. Lovely breakfast served on the terrace with good views over the square. Comfortable facilities (the bathroom has great pressure in thr showers); the staff were very warm & helpful despite their lack of English.

The only negative point was the small room size. Our rooms overlooked the street, the rooms overlooking the Square would have better views.
