YHA Brighton Hostel

The female only dorm was perfect for my solo travel. I was able to feel safe and relax comfortably. I was happy to have a shower and bathroom within the private room. I also able to use the conference room for some privacy for a professional ZOOM meeting. It was nice to be able to storage my luggage for free prior to check as long as I was comfortable with the risk of leaving it in a general locked room.

Wifi for me was terrible unless in the main cafe area. There was a broken window in the girls dorm covered with a piece of plywood that was not the same size of the pane and thereby allowed a chilly draft.

All the people in the room minded their own business which resulted in a very quite room despite being full :) They all respected each others privacy. Since I got up early I was able to use the facilities in the room without any waiting time.

Am not sure if you can do anything about this i.e. snoring! Once the night gets deeper the snoring (of some people) gets louder. Probably you can consider distributing ear plugs while checking in :) Also, since your property is at a key location there is lot of noise from the weekend revellers especially if it is a Friday or Saturday night. Again, I guess there is not much you can do.

The location lovely clean bright airy room .good night lamp settings and phones recharging connections.comfortable bed.good shower head and power pressure in bathroom.water refill section to refill your container.nice cafe and lounge room.you can also buy snacks at the bar,and soft drinks from the machine.The kindness of the staff.

The only thing I would recommend is maybe they could introduce a evening light meal from the cafe, for persons who don't want to go out on a evening,as they only serve breakfast.

The staff member who first attended to me asked me a question i felt was unnecessary and unfortunate! She asked if my address on the check in form was correct and i responded affirmative and to my surprise, she further asked if you living in Brighton as indicated by the address then why are you coming rest in this facility? I felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed following this question. I don't really know if that is how she has been trained to receive gusts in this amazing facility. I did not expect such a question from her, to say the least.

I was very much happy with the other staff members i met later on, they were so professional and very helpful. Two of them were males on night duty and the other one was a lady who was seen at the reception after i was attended. These two gentlemen assisted me to get my phone back from my room after leaving the room access card with my roommate in the room.

The staff was super kind and helpful, from the check-in to the general stay (they even helped me get a bowl and warm water for my food). The common facilities served as an open workspace where I had meetings (good and free wifi) without much noise and just overall comfy spaces. The shared bathroom (shared only with the people in your room) was clean, and the hot water worked beautifully.

I understand they have their own breakfasts, and some appliances are restricted to the kitchen, which meant that there was no common microwave to use.

The location was great. Right next to the pier and the beach. Grocery store nearby which was good. The beds were comfy and the room I was in (8 bed female dorm) was huge and had a really good view of the park next door. Had a nice area downstairs where I could sit and eat my food.

The kitchen wasn’t open while I was staying there which was a really big bummer. And a school group was staying there and unfortunately they were right above my room so I could hear them stopping around but it wasn’t bad enough to complain to reception. A lot of older people in my room (plus 30) which I wasn’t expecting for a youth hostel but it is what it is I guess. Also didn’t have a laundromat and the nearby one was very expensive so I resorted to washing my clothes in the bathtub. Luckily it was a really clean bathroom so I felt comfortable doing so haha.

I was very satisfied with my overall experience. From many hostels I've stayed in, YHA Brighton is definitely top tier for me. With travelling alone I felt safe comfortable and really enjoyed my time I didn't feel awkward asking for anything as the vibes were just positive friendly and chilled. All staff were friendly and smiley and so helpful. Everything was so clean!!! Would definitely recommend! 😊

We had to stay at this hotel, because Brunswick hotel and spa had completely let us down. We were in a bit of a tight spot with our three young children and had to find somewhere at the last minute. Receptionists and managers were lovely and really looked after us. Facilities downstairs are excellent great bar area and foose ball table for kids. Rooms are basic but linen is very clean, bathroom could do with a bit of updating/ service. But for the money I was very happy. Thank you to the staff

Few issues. With bathroom but not a massive issue.

The staff is always unbelievable lovely. The room looks nice. The fresh bedding. The common locker for everyone together. Better than nothing. Nice cocktail bar. They want your passport or photo ID. Safer than other hostels. Bus stop (to London) close to the hostel. Sea 100 steps. Food 100 steps. The phone charger and the bed light is working. I had a bed side table, too

The bathroom in the room 215 was very dirty. Old dirt and smell. ... because it is in the bedroom (en suit) very difficult to sleep in urine smell. No lockers in my room 215 or on the corridor. The common lockers: you can turn off the light= it is not lucky in a room with security camera.

Staff were nice. Hostel is accessible to the pier, sea life, and bus stops to take you to most places around the area including the coasters to outside of Brighton. Room was clean, it has a toilet and shower for each room. They were kind enough to reserve me a lower bunk since I recently had ankle surgery and can’t climb ladders yet. They also have a storage room where you can leave your luggage as you explore the city outside of your check-in time. Overall, it was one of the best hostel experiences I’ve had.

Since it’s a hostel it comes with the limitations such as bringing your own towel and toiletries, but that is to be expected.
