The location was good for our trip and Camelford was ideally situated to cover the areas we visited. The breakfast was good and fresh and served our needs well. It is important to note that the Darlington is a very old, listed, building located in a small Cornish village (all of which we liked); however, with that in mind, one should not expect lifts, or full cooked breakfasts and other meals, or indeed luxury hotel type-amenities - and it is also important to note that all the hotel descriptions and information given by the owners (Carol and Rodney) are honest and accurate. If you are the type of traveller who likes to spend most of the day in a hotel room - the Darlington may not be ideal for you; however, if you are using Camelford as a base from where to explore Cornwall you can't do better than stay at the Darlington,
There was nothing we did not like. The only minor issue we noticed was that, after you enter the hotel, there is an uneven floor surface, which is not obvious because it is covered by the carpet. Ideally, it would be good for that to be sorted, as we stumbled over it a couple of times when entering or leaving the hotel.

Ease of checking in. Just have to read the email! Everything was written down to read and re-read. The big modern-style bathroom was a lovely surprise. The big towels were scrummy. The breakfast basket was a great idea. The beds were so pretty with their lovely lace/embroidered duvets. And the beds were so comfortable. Sure, it was OLD, and historic and tiny, but it was clean and pretty and honest.
Well, I reckon for the fair price we received there was nothing to dislike.

Lovely owners and a basket of goodies left for us both mornings. Comfortable beds and beautiful touches all over the room. Old but atmospheric, clean and in a lovely village. Free parking for the night up the road.
Tricky to park and unload, and the steps into the property are not easily accessible. Stone and steep, and further steps down and back up to get to the rooms. Not for the faint of heart and made me worry if there was an emergency.

verything was great overall. Even though the building is listed, the room was very nice, spotless, and Carol was extremely helpful, providing excellent advice for exploring the region. Everything was perfect!
I honestly appreciated everything during my stay. There was nothing that I found disappointing. The entire experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Only the weather was not great but that, the Hotel can't do anything!

The Darlington is an amazing 800 years old listed building with well-preserved character but also all the comfort for a modern-day visitor. Staying in such an exceptional building was an experience on its own. The room inside was well furnished and very clean. I worked at the Royal Cornwall Show and this was at a reasonable distance from Wadebridge and in a beautiful setting. There is a lovely walk along the River Camel nearby which was perfect after a busy day at the show. The hosts were easy to communicate with and their directions were clear and detailed.
Everything was as advertised. Nothing to dislike.

the location suited our visit was in the middle of places and people we wanted to see the room was larger than most and the breakfast our hosts supplied was unexpected and ample for our needs

Very comfortable, clean and attentive staff, while being left in the style of self contained accommodation. Good sized comfortable beds, access to a shared shower room, which was an added bonus. Close to shops and amenities, ideal location for exploring the area.
Rooms toward the back could be a little noisy, no fault of the owners or property, just location and teens going up the path behind the building. Shaver light did not seem to work, but honestly not an issue given all the other lighting options (ie lamps) and the large bright windows.

Good value for money with everything we needed. Breakfast basket was full of lovely treats each day and plenty of choice. Shower was nice and powerful. Big tv was great and having the sofa was a bonus too!
The only thing I needed was another socket by the mirror for doing my hair but just ended up moving the mirror instead! Another bin in the room would’ve been good as only one in the bathroom, so just moved it into the bedroom instead.

For the cheap price we were not expecting much, and still didn't know what to expect when we arrived. But once we got to our room we were amazed to see a very spacious and clean room with en suite bathroom (shower not bath but we knew this in advance). The atmosphere was warm and cosy and had an historic feel about the place. Its true, as some of the comments state, the floors are not even throughout but considering its 800 years old it stands well. If you don't have problems walking up and down your average garden or have difficulty with walking I don't see a problem. All in all, The Darlington is a warm and friendly place with a great historic feel to the place that adds to the area.
Can't be helped but a car park would have been nice. however, there are a couple very close by and a small council owned one next to for unloading luggage.
