Love a historic building to stay in and it’s obvious the owners do too. What was a complete surprise, because I hadn’t done my homework and was just looking for a comfortable bed after a day walking the Ridgeway, was these guys REALLY know what their doing…comfortable room, well kept beer and the food…I generally go for a burger after a long walk, this was something else - the co-owner/head chef worked for Rick Stein!

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like. But I would say don’t let the Black Swan’s location on a fairly busy stretch of Devizes town centre put you off. It’s a lovely Wiltshire market town with a bit of hustle bustle that nice to be in the middle of

The rooms are quirky but very comfortable. On the small side and being above the pub can be noisy. The food was very good and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

The toilet didn't flush properly and there was a slight drain smell. The room was a bit on the small side but very comfortable. The parking is the big issue at this location. Whilst there is parking in the market square there is a complicated system to pay. You have to either download the MiPermit App or send a text message and they will call you back. My mobile number was unrecognised apparently. No signs in the square as when you have to pay for parking.

The hotel is really nicely decorated and we had a very comfortable room. There was ample tea and coffee and a good shower

The was no breakfast included in the price and this added another £30 to our bill. The breakfast was good quality but expensive for what you got

A little gem of a hotel. We travelled as a family for a wedding in the area. We had three rooms over two nights. From arrival to leaving we found the stuff very attentive. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and had breakfast on both mornings. Good choice of food, both the evening meal and breakfast were delicious. Would like to say a big thank you to Steph who made our stay even more enjoyable. Nothing was too much effort.

Relaxing and welcoming.

The stairs to the rooms were steep and, in some parts un-even. We do accept that there may not be much that can be done about this but my wife struggled and we saw the same with other guests. It’s a shame because otherwise this is an excellent hotel. Would it be possible to install a lift? Maybe one of those ‘open’ platform lifts?

The staff are so welcoming and friendly from check in to check out. The room was perfectly clean, tidy and decorated. The mini fridge with water and milk for tea outside the room was so useful when we came back late at night.

Literally the only thing is the plumbing isn’t that great and you have to flush five times for any toilet paper to go down but it didn’t put me off and we loved our stay.

The furniture in our room doesn’t really work for the size of the room. There was a huge old desk and just a low bedroom chair and only one bedside table so it felt a bit cramped and doesn’t really work as a space to relax as a couple, one of us had to sit on the bed and the other on the chair. Could probably benefit from a smaller desk or chest of drawers

Location was excellent,we didn't have breakfast but had a lovely meal the night we stayed.Beer was excellent.offering water and fresh milk for the room an extra touch and the tea bags were good quality.

We could have been made aware that we would hear the extractor fans in the room (7),although they went off about 10pm and did not run at night.

All the little finishing details, like the radio playing as you came in to your room. Staff were so friendly and loved our dogs, very accommodating with late arrival post restaurant closing still sat us, left bar open for us later, had fresh milk for tea and cold water in fridge in hall for all guests.

N/A - the light in the bathroom hummed for a minute after switch off but no biggie!

Lovely cosy pub and room. The food was also brilliant and friendly staff - would book again!

The only thing was the coffee wasn't brilliant (but thats a minor detail)! Everything else was lovely.
