The room was very good. The bed was very comfortable with a good size bathroom and bath. The shower worked well and there was replacement shampoos etc everyday. The breakfast selection and quality were all very good. The afternoon team and sitting areas were very good. The staff were well trained and seemed to enjoy their job.

I cant think of anything. I am not the type of person who thinks of the slightest little thing. I did stay at the hotel over 17 years ago and from memory it was a little tired and need of a refurbishment, since then the hotel has been fully updated and is of excellent quality and the staff seem to want to work there which is a good sign.

Beautiful grounds and comfy beds. We stayed for a few nights as we were getting married at the Yorkshire sculpture Park. Spa was lovely but very busy.

The service wasn’t great to begin with, so thanks to Harry he made it up to us massively. Then the night of our wedding we came back to find the room hadn’t been cleaned, the bed wasn’t made and champagne bottles and glasses were still in the room. Sophia was amazing!!!… she totally understood and knew it was unacceptable therefore rectified the problem immediately by upgrading us and couldn’t do enough to make us feel special. Thank you Sophia and Harry for being amazing. Mark the concierge was also very lovely and super helpful.

I loved the beautiful grounds and the features of the hotel. It was simply stunning. The room was very spacious Staff in hotel very friendly.

Our room was so hot we had to ring reception and ask for a fan. The spa staff seemed rushed off their feet and left us with no instruction where to go, received no tokens for the lockers and found out about this later. Also weren't told about flip flops. It's the little things at hotels of this price that matter. The jacquizzi needs investigating. The levels of chemicals aren't right. It burned our eyes and I started coughing. It was so uncomfortable and when you're on a spa break relaxation is key. Was a bit disappointed at this. Alot of guests were also complaining about it. Please investigate this ASAP. Other than that a great stay.

The staff. They really made the place. Especially Ben, I was absolutely lovely and made me feel so welcome and taken care of - what a gem. All the staff were very nice to my dog. The pianist who isn’t even a hired pianist (blows my mind) and actually is just a member of staff who plays the piano after his shift for pleasure is an absolute diamond - it was genuinely the highlight of my stay (alongside Ben). Staff really make the place and they really were just superb. Thank you

A bit dated in the rooms but they are modernising them and this didn’t overshadow how wonderful the stay was and how magnificent the grounds are x

What didn't we like! Everything about this hotel was amazing! Great value for money. Hotel setting was amazing, it was nice to sit out and overlook the golf course. Spa was amazing, room was amazing, food was amazing!!

The only thing I would say is to put more staff on in the champagne bar during the afternoon. It wasn't busy but it took me 10 minutes to be served which when you are waiting seems like a lifetime. I wasn't even acknowledge when I was at the bar waiting. Would have been nice to just be acknowledged initially. It's not something that put me off staying here as everything else was amazing. Definitely worth the stay. 😀

Lovely grounds and setting. Food of a good quality and helpful staff.

The bed was extremely hard. Whilst the food was lovely, there wasn't much choice particularly as the specials were the same both nights that we stayed. Also, some ingredients for cocktails were not available on the first night, which is not a problem. However, they were still not available the second night plus there were even more shortages meaning essentially no cocktails available. A small issue but the menus available online are out of date - in particular we had been keen to try somethings from the Lounge menu but when we enquired staff initially had no knowledge whatsoever of a Lounge menu and after much investigation we were eventually told that it was an old menu.

The room was superb, the carpet was luxurious and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The view out of the window was lovely. The staff are all very friendly and efficient. Checkin/out was easy and uncomplicated with lovely staff. This is our third stay and thought that this was the best yet Love the fridge and safe in the room The grounds are beautiful and well kept.

The fire alarm went off at 6am and was silenced about 30 secs later . I know it cannot be helped but we couldn’t get back to sleep. Noisy guests going back to their room at night but that is not the fault of the hotel.

We booked for 2 nights and had an excellent stay. The room was so comfortable and facilities were fabulous. All the staff were so friendly but we have to give a special mention to Nick the events experience manager who promptly sorted out an issue and to Mark the concierge who was wonderful with our dog. It was our second visit to this hotel and we will be going back. A beautiful hotel with a lot of history. We can highly recommend it.

The only negative thing I can think of was that the dining room was a little draughty but we have had some extremely cold weather and the breakfast was so tasty that it didn’t really bother us that much.

Beautiful, elegant, charming hotel with lots of character. Lots of comfortable, well-presented reception rooms for chatting with friends or having a drink. Excellent gym with plenty of equipment. Decent food in restaurant. Comfortable bed and pillow!

Dinner food service was extremely slow - the restaurant was moderately busy, but not overloaded and a wait of 50 mins from starter to main course is very poor. En-suite bathroom really needed a proper clean - multiple early signs of mould on the tile grouting that took the edge of an otherwise nice bathroom.

Beautiful hotel, large spacious communal areas that were a delight to sit in, especially with a cocktail! We were fortunate to stay in an updated room, which was very spacious and had lots of little upgrades, such as complimentary mini bar, coffee machine, robes and elemis shampoo and soap. Breakfast was a little chaotic at busy times, but the quality was lovely, especially the fruit juices. You could ask for porridge etc, but it would have been helpful to have menus prompting you to what they could offer in addition to the buffet options. They provide a gluten free coeliac breakfast too, with sausages and hash browns etc. The pool was clean and well maintained, if you have kids be mindful that they are only allowed in the pool at certain times. The staff were friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay.

The air conditioning is centrally controlled and does not come on until a certain outside temperature is reached, so it was not available during our stay. We had a room that was above a flat roof, so we couldn't leave the window open as it was a security risk and we had a young child with us, so also a security risk. The room was hot and stuffy as a result. Thankfully we were able to swap rooms to one that was cooler (still no ac) but if we hadn't we wouldn't have slept well at all.
