The bathroom shower was broken. We manage without bath as it was just over night sleep to rest and proceed. Worst was there was no Restaurant in hotel. Even outside Restaurant opens after 9 am which was not good.

Staff should be friendly and get up and talk with Guest when they are at the reception. Bad impression is when they sit and not pay attention. No Complaints about hotel. It is very good and clean and for price for 4 person it's excellent

The price for my room was very low. In fact, apart from previously staying at a hostel years ago, it's the cheapest room I have ever stayed in. I had a secure room with a key, en suite toilet with a shower. The parking at the hotel was free and the hotel was only a 30 minutes walk to the city centre of Leicester, requiring a walk down a busy artery of the city with lots of shops - not through a dangerous neighbourhood for example.

My biggest dislike was that, although there was a TV, it didn't seem to work. It was almost like one of the other guests had a replica remote control and kept randomly changing the channels and volume as a joke - I believe this wasn't the case but the TV simply didn't work. I ended up tolerating it for several hours by just changing it back every time until it got late, around 11, and suddenly the volume went right up. It became very loud and I couldn't turn it down so I just switched it off. Also, I was looking forward to the free WIFI. I asked for the password at the desk. I attempted to connect three times and it wouldn't work so I just gave up and stuck with the crazy television. There was free tea and coffee but there was no kettle. I could have gone back down to the reception and asked but after the WIFI not working, and upon inspection of the cleanliness of the tea spoon and one of the cups, I decided not to bother. I didn't read any of the reviews of the hotel prior to staying and with the TV and WIFI not working, decided to go through them. I can understand why people would walk straight out of the hotel and the worst of the reviews from people who have actually stayed certainly would be similar to my experience. My issue is that; for the money that I paid; what should my expectations be? Due to the tired appearance of the room and the stained walls and floor, the grubby toilet and shower and things not working properly, I didn't even want to pull my sheets back in the bed. This was obviously my choice, but I decided to sleep on top of the bed with my coat on. It was cold and the radiator in the room did not come on all night. In the morning I decided to leave without a shower. Was my experience worth what I paid? I really don't know. I have never stayed in a hotel that was cheaper and better. I am due to return to Leicester in the next few months and have to stay for a week next time.

As a seasoned traveller I didn't have high expections as the price was so reasonable. It fits my criteria for a private hostel rather than a hotel - that is no bedside lights, no toiletries, no kettle and no hangers. It has obviously been a grand hotel at some stage but now it need of many millions to bring it up to modern standards. I didn't expect a lot more for the money. The position was close to loads of eating places.

To reiterate as above, it meets my criteria for a private hostel, so that was not the problem. All the doors have fire door closures which were I guess set far to tightly (?) because every time a door closed it slammed so loudly that our room shook. When we got back from eating at about 8pm there was a door slamming repeatedly and constantly somewhere in the distance. Eventually my daughter went down to reception to ask about it, that made no difference. Round about 10 someone presumably came in to the same floor as us. The process with the constandly slamming doors continued but this time so loudly that it kept waking up my 8 year old grandson. The whole room shook. We decided that it would probably quieten down about 11ish, so tried to be patient about it. By 11.45 we gave up, packed up and left. We were only 2.5 hrs away from home and decided we'd get more rest at home despite the late night drive. We were very disappointed as it spoiled out little trip to the National Space Centre - the hotel was chosen because of it's close proximity.
