Loved the room. Ground floor, right over the water, could hear the sound of the water lapping at the shore. So peaceful. The room was incredibly clean and bed was comfortable. The bath was a little bit of luxury for me, and the shower pressure was good and hot. Honestly was a bit dubious after reading other reviews but I really enjoyed it - I wanted a clean, private, quiet, relaxing space to unwind and got exactly that. Would stay again - especially if I knew I was getting that exact room!

The decor is obviously outdated but there’s ongoing renovations and I’m sure the restaurant and bar will be great once they’re opened up again. No one at reception at check-out but there was a phone number to ring and that was just as easy. Overall not a lot to dislike!

It is perfectly situated. This grand beautiful historic building is being renovated by the present owners. I had a room with a sea view which was magnificent. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. I loved the towel warmer and excellent water pressure in the shower. The staff were amazing. Sam, the owner’s son, went above the call of duty to provide towels and vacuum the sand I tracked into the room. Harvey, the owner, was fantastic! He even gave me a ride to the bus station. If you are interested in historic preservation this is the hotel for you. It sits actually into the sea next to Bain’s Beach. I had a fabulous week at the Queens Hotel.

The property is undergoing renovation so everything is not in perfect condition. It didn’t bother me in the least.

Very quiet location

I had to check in late due to ferry schedule difficulties. When I arrived at the hotel I had to use a phone to call someone to check me in. I found it a bit inconvenient.

The location was pefect for travel around island

Staff were very welcoming all my needs were met great view and great value for money,location is right in the centre of town.

Harvey the manager & Mickey the chef are great...as are the rest of the staff & we enjoyed or stay. We have to admit we eventually stayed in Harvey's other hotel -the Grand - just nearby but both hotels are equally placed & interesting. We had a room overlooking the harbour. Mickey did a great job with the breakfasts & was always cheery & interesting. If you need cloned, chain hotel rooms these are not for you. If you want to stay in a bit of Shetland history with adventure on the side then both the Grand & Queens hotel are just what you need. The Grand on the main street is a delight, with a few turrets, wood panelling & ceiling moldings to admire. We miss it already.......

We could not stay longer..... We really cannot fault the room or the effort of Harvey & his staff. Slainte!

Owner Harvey was absolutely brilliant. We had had an awful night at another establishment and Harvey made us feel incredibly welcomed. Clean and VERY warm hotel, comfy beds with an amazing view! Nothing was too much to ask for, he even made it possible for us to have breakfast at the sister hotel. The chef Micky was superb! We felt really looked after. The hotel is under new ownership and I understand from Harvey he is about to begin an upgrade. I cannot wait to come back and see what he does with the place!

The room service was good- clean and beds made everyday however, could have done with replacing toilet rolls, tea and coffee facilities and empty the bins a little more often.

Location & view😍 I have damaged knees so spend more time in my room than I used to so a view means a lot to me. The bath was good. Bed comfortable & big towel good. Tea /coffee making facilities was a big bonus especially as I usually have a cup of tea early in the morning. Would stay again.

I would have loved a fridge & microwave especially as they are room only & it was the most expensive place on my time in Scotland. No shampoo but I had my own fortunately

The best location in Shetlands, our room looked right out into the sea ask for Harvey if you want a room with a view our hotel was right next door from where the Shetland TV series is recorded Also, Harvey owns The Grand, on the main street in Shetland, a very comfortable old grand hotel, with the greatest host, Harvey himself,
