Breakfast was fine - had a full english, which was presented in an upmarket way, and included in the room price ( otherwise £18) The staff were very attentive, parking was easy - room for perhaps 15-20 vehicles in the car park. Location is rural - although not far from the M40. Our room (15) looked out over open fields. Room was very clean - shower room was spotless. Wood fire in the bar. Very comfortable bed :) Old and characterful main building - the rooms are of a modern design.

Hard to fault it really. Bar is quite noisy when busy ( although we could hear nothing in the room which was in a separate wing). Food is rather on the expensive side, but very good. They were having a bit of trouble with the fire flue - a little smoke came back into the bar, so we went to bed smelling vaguely of wood smoke, but who cares - such a minor thing, and not really a 'dislike'.

Ample parking, room was clean, bed very comfortable, Wi-Fi signal was good and very tranquil area. When you talk to Chef Dan you soon realise he is passionate about how the food is sourced and prepared and the full English Breakfast was one of the best I have had at a hotel for many years. Bar manager Tony also deserves a mention, nothing is too much trouble with excellent customer service his priority. Good selection of beers and an interesting chat guaranteed if he gets a few minutes to spare.

the en-suite in my room was a little small (but adequate)

Breakfast was delicious, sour dough toast with sausage, mushrooms, eggs etc, all locally sourced and tasted fantastic. The beds were so comfy, Great pub set in a nice rural location. Tony the Manager looked after us very well.

Fire alarms went off in the middle of the night. Because of this our breakfast and the room was fully refunded with no questions asked. This wasn't necessary from the Fox and I would of happily paid.

- Vegetarian options on a Sunday could be better - Rooms were warm It is worth noting that the staff were aware of both of these possible improvements and did everything they could to address It at the time. Our vegetarian guest was given a very nice lunch, and windows in all rooms were opened well in advance of our arrival.

The bedroom was very attractive, with a view over neighbouring fields. No noise during the night and only birds in the morning. Bathroom carefully designed. Breakfast was well cooked. The hotel is just a few steps away from a footpath which links in with the Chiltern Way and other networks for walkers.

The writing table in the room was rather too small. The staff were excellent, but seemed worked off their feet. Overall, a trifle pricey.

The staff and owner were welcoming, helpful and polite. Great customer service and very kind and patient with my dogs. Food was fantastic - fabulous flavours and cooked to perfection; both fish on Saturday evening and the Sunday roast were sublime. Restaurant and bar area is lovely and outside areas very attractive and comfortable. Amazing countryside, nature and wildlife all around. I had a great stay and will return. Thankyou for making me so comfortable and welcome.

location on a quiet lane with optional outside dining and nice views from room at the back of the property. clean room. friendly welcome. nice dinner.

room a little tight for space but view made up for that. minor thing of shower tray cracked, not draining, tile grout needed a scrub but nice hot shower with soaps etc provided. slow dinner service but busy with one serving and manning bar and again didn’t bother us as lovely warm evening.

Everything. The location so close to the motorway was fantastic but it still had the feeling of being away from it all, having the vast Common next to the Inn was perfect for an early morning walk with the dogs. the atmosphere was everything you imagine from a village inn, warm, welcoming and friendly. Very much looking forward to going back hopefully to stay in the soon to be completed suites. Tony, the manager was so welcoming and helpful throughout.

On arrival the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Lovey food and selection of reasonable priced drinks. The room itself was fit for purpose and could do with a bit of a revamp but clean and had everything I needed for my stay.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like at the property but a couple small things that could be addressed. The TV didn’t work but think that was down to the Arial and couldn’t fill the kettle as it was to big to fit in the sink.

Lovely clean room with all the facilities you need, good size ensuite. Very peaceful with a lovely view, breakfast was very nice in the downstairs bar, staff were friendly and made you feel welcome.

Unfortunately when I was staying there was no electricity for one day and roads were closed due to the works but that was no fault of the venue, it just made it a bit awkward getting ready for a wedding.
