It was very nice recently renovated.

I did not know that food was not served on Sunday evening and the bar closed at 7 pm.. Been a few miles from the next village that was inconvenient. Also in Monday morning the whole place was locked up so unable to ask for breakfast, or receive my final bill. There was a couple who had paid for breakfast included but they had to leave without it. To crown it all the cafe in the next village was closed on Monday. I drove miles before I could get some food.

Loved the location, so easy to get too staight off J5 M40 & into Ibstone. Was unsure what to expect after reading mixed reviews but we understand why, new owners & they are getting this beautiful establishment to its full potential! The ground floor room was exceptional.. huge, fully equipped room with TV, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, tea/coffee facilities, comfy bed, gorgeous bathroom with the biggest bath plus a double shower, double sink & toiletries. Amazingly dog friendly, lovely gardens, food was delicious & we will stay again! Wishing the new owners the absolute best of luck. Would highly recommend a stay here & we can't wait to revisit.

Water was very hot very quickly, so just be mindful!

The accommodation was excellent. Warm, comfortable, clean with super en-suite, The room was cleaned each day. The cooked breakfast was good albeit rather basic with no menu. Superb coffee!

The establishment appears to be only half open, but with some refurbishment going on.. Lovely position with great potential. There was some confusion over our booking which I am sure can be resolved between the proprietor and Booking,com

Ample parking, room was clean, bed very comfortable, Wi-Fi signal was good and very tranquil area. When you talk to Chef Dan you soon realise he is passionate about how the food is sourced and prepared and the full English Breakfast was one of the best I have had at a hotel for many years. Bar manager Tony also deserves a mention, nothing is too much trouble with excellent customer service his priority. Good selection of beers and an interesting chat guaranteed if he gets a few minutes to spare.

Breakfast was fine - had a full english, which was presented in an upmarket way, and included in the room price ( otherwise £18) The staff were very attentive, parking was easy - room for perhaps 15-20 vehicles in the car park. Location is rural - although not far from the M40. Our room (15) looked out over open fields. Room was very clean - shower room was spotless. Wood fire in the bar. Very comfortable bed :) Old and characterful main building - the rooms are of a modern design.

Hard to fault it really. Bar is quite noisy when busy ( although we could hear nothing in the room which was in a separate wing). Food is rather on the expensive side, but very good. They were having a bit of trouble with the fire flue - a little smoke came back into the bar, so we went to bed smelling vaguely of wood smoke, but who cares - such a minor thing, and not really a 'dislike'.

We stayed in one the recently-refurbished ground-floor rooms - which are beautifully finished, with nice views of the countryside.

Our reservation with Booking.com had not got through to the hotel. The owner kindly looked after us, and gave us a room -but there seems to be an issue with Booking.com sharing bookings and payments with the hotel.

The location was excellent. The bed was comfortable. The breakfasts were very good and the evening meal.

Unfortunately the owner had only been in for 4 weeks and was struggling with lots of unforeseen issues. The service in the restaurant was very slow., for the first 2 days then this morning at breakfast there were more new staff. The drinks were expensive.

Location and ambience in inn.

I thought having breakfast charge should have included my coffee and orange juice but additional charges were made. This isn't typical. Normally breakfast charge in other establishments includes ones drinks. The shower door was off runners and room TV didn't work. Bed was clean and comfortable which most important considerations

The chiltern fox was a lovely pub/hotel, the staff are excellent, I emailed to see if they could order a taxi for me, this was all done. Extremely helpful and friendly the roo.was in lovely condition and extremely clean, had iron, tea making, beautiful bath. Great stay Good range of breakfast choices Lovely area and views

Everything was fine Enjoyed the pub, fair prices Real log fire, Good choice of wines Lovely staff, great breakfast

- Exceptionally helpful staff - Beautiful setting - One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve eaten - Comfortable beds - Clean and tidy property

- Vegetarian options on a Sunday could be better - Rooms were warm It is worth noting that the staff were aware of both of these possible improvements and did everything they could to address It at the time. Our vegetarian guest was given a very nice lunch, and windows in all rooms were opened well in advance of our arrival.
