All the food was fantastic, both in taste and presentation. We upgraded to a junior suite for that little extra luxury and it didnt disapoint. The weather on arrival (Friday) was fantastic and we made the best of our balcony and the outside bar area. On Saturday the weather was a little more gloomy and wet, but we made use of the pool area, with its jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.

The only thing that could have been better was the weather on Saturday and Sunday. But there was plenty inside the Hotel Resort to keep us entertained.

Staff friendly, food very fine and tasty, location special, spa very good and overall a clean, well run cut above establishment. It is situated on the outskirts but that made it a real getaway (driving through narrow lanes..).

We stayed in suite nr 8 which unfortunately had obstructed view although was sold as "with view". It also lacked privacy as the people on the deck and some people at the restaurant could look straigh into our suite. I suggest you ask not to stay in 8 if you like to have unobstructed view and privacy.

The main draw was the spa especially the pool which was warm for a winter month. The restaurant is excellent but expensive. Views from the coastal path are wonderful. We would have visited the beach but my mobility was temporarily limited. The building is very comfortable and the combination of wood and fabrics is pleasing and relaxing. Staff are friendly and helpful.

There is a gap in the food offering. Something is needed between a full meal in the restaurant and lounge bar snacks. This need is apparently catered for by Garavan in summer but, as winter visitors, we needed the option of a light meal/sandwiches.

Gara Rock is a stunning location, with welcoming staff and beautifully furnished all over. Our junior suite was fabulous, exceedingly comfortable bed and we loved the standalone bath. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very kind, so we didn't really get to enjoy the terrace or see much of the view. The hotel lounge area has an array of vast comfy sofas and the pool/spa was also lovely (it's not huge, so better enjoyed with fewer guests!) - and we both had very good, relaxing aromatherapy massages. The restaurant is a great location, lovely views and good food, although not a huge choice for vegetarians. We braved the weather for the shorter walk down through the woods (an easy 30 minutes) to the foot-ferry and over to Salcombe for a change of scenery. We'd love to come back and walk the cliff paths one day!

The only negative was about costs: we had someone else's food added to our restaurant bill on the first night and someone else's round of cocktails on our bill on check out - both of which we thankfully spotted and were swiftly taken off. We also pre-paid our breakfasts for both days, yet were given the a la carte menu only (so had actually paid more for nothing).

Gara Rock is something else - the location is spectacular, and the facilities are really excellent whilst also being relaxed. We really enjoyed our stay, and wanted to stay longer. We made excellent use of the spa and restaurant - the restaurant in particular was excellent, all the food we had was delicious and the staff were super friendly. Marius in particular was really knowledgeable about the bar menu.

It’s not cheap - but we really did have an amazing time.

This is a beautiful hotel with amazing scenery! Being right on the coast with beautiful views from our room, and the communal areas such as the restaurant, lounge and spa. It was really lovely to be able to walk out of the hotel and straight into some beautiful coastal walks. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating with any requests. The spa area is lovely and perfect for escaping the wet and windy weather that we had during our stay (to be expected at the end of November!). The spa treatments that we had were also some of the best we have had! The new 'pudding bar' experience was great and something a bit different to try at the end of a delicious meal. The food was amazing, we couldn't fault it (my partner even saying the pork chop was one of the best meals he has had ever - high praise) and it was great to try some new things such as treacle bread and also seaweed butter! The wifi connection was great but we did also enjoy the fact there was no phone signal, it was nice to switch off for a couple of days and not be contactable if we didn't want to be. We would definitely go back!

There isn't anything that we didn't like, it was a great stay.

The food was excellent (worth every penny!), All the hotel staff were also excellent. The situation of the hotel was super. The indoor pool and outdoor pool were good facilities. The bed was a good size. The complimentary sloe gin was a nice touch.

There were no savoury choices (ham, cheese etc) with the continental breakfast option. No paper versions of newspapers were available to order at the hotel. Apparently no-one will deliver, due to the hotel being so isolated. (To us the isolation was a like!) A round trip of about 16 miles was needed to get one. Bedroom was a bit dark with no view. However, sitting room (suite) was nice with good view, albeit overlooked by the indoor pool's outdoor seating area. These were pretty minor dislikes.

The location is stunning, and our room very comfortable and well appointed, but the really excellent part was the staff - a great team and well managed. Also our meals were excellent too.

Very hard to fault, but I'd say the cost of breakfast was toppy when you consider a high room rate already. It would also be handy to have a laundry service. The only other thing - which is sadly common with most hotels these days - is all the unnecessary cushions on the bed. In my experience, nobody really uses them and, as there is never enough room in cupboards to store them, they end up on the floor, only to be replaced on the bed for the next guests which is really unhygienic. As I say though, nearly all hotels do this and Gara Rock is by no means the worst!

It’s an immaculate, beautifully decorated hotel in a stunning location. The sea views and the little beach are just gorgeous! Our room was spacious and the furnishings were absolutely lovely! The lobby is beautiful and the massage I had at the spa was one of the best I’ve ever had. There’s a private cinema you can book which is a nice touch. The staff (especially the waiters/waitresses in the restaurant) are really friendly and all round lovely. There is a very relaxed feel to the place and we truly came away feeling rested and happy. a beautiful place and well worth a visit.

There’s a couple of minor areas that need improvement, service (although the staff are all absolutely lovely) was at times very slow, a few times we ordered coffee/drinks and were forgotten about/had to go over to follow up and drinks / dinner regularly took a really long time to show up. This was a little frustrating given that there’s a service charge applied to every order. There are no parasols at all in any of the outdoor areas meaning it was just too hot to lay outside while we were there. There’s a strong smell of sewage near the outdoor pool area which really needs to be resolved.

Staff amazing in restaurant , gorgeous rooms, perfect location, amazing food, loved everything and ssheer tranquil luxury. Will be back for sure

Being picky . The spa wasn’t well manned, ran out of no water also needs attention outside area clearly not cleaned for a while , cobwebs everywhere. If I was spa manager I would not be happy with cleanliness outside.
