Great location roughly halfway between Windermere and Bowness, so walkable in either direction. Regular bus service down to Bowness or up to Windermere and Grasmere or connections to Keswick or Kendal. The guest house is clean and comfortable with bright, spacious rooms nicely decorated. TV with DVD facility and a bookcase full of DVDs on the landing. There are 2 dedicated parking bays with charging points and further roadside parking, with the option of using the school car park during holiday periods. The owners are very welcoming and offer a good cooked breakfast if required. We will be happy to stay here on future visits to the area.

Nothing to complain about. Not sure about disabled facilities as we are currently quite mobile.

Breakfast was lovely. The owners like you to pre-order by text the evening before, that wasn't a problem. I have Coeliac disease, so have to eat gluten free. Paula, the host also has Coeliac Disease and her husband Richard, who does the cooking, is obviously very clued up about how to prepare and serve gluten free food safely for Coeliacs. This made our stay very comfortable. Paula & Richard are very warm and welcoming people, clearly love their business and they have good knowledge of the area, so are able to advise on places to go, things to do.

Everything about our stay was perfect. Location in Windermere was quiet but still within a short walking distance to some lovely coffee places, restaurants and shops. Our bedroom (room 8) on the top floor had stunning views, and very comfy beds. For our family of three the space was ideal. Not at all cramped, and with the added bonus of a very clean en-suite with ample towels and lush toiletries. The thing that makes this place has to be Paula and Richard. The perfect hosts! They shared loads of recommendations for walks, activities and places to eat, all of which were great. Richard even went to the trouble of drawing out some walking routes for us which helped with navigation for our family, who aren't confident ramblers. We liked ordering breakfast the night before, and then it was ready when we arrived in the dining room. Great to have the option of breakfast in your room, and had we stayed longer we probably would have done this too. Breakfast was lovely and again Paula was super accommodating asking our son if he wanted small variations to his order, loved her fruit com pots! Really liked that everything here was locally sourced. We felt cared for throughout, and with the hosts local knowledge, settled into the area quickly. They even went to the trouble of letting us know we'd left some bits in our room and arranged with us to collect them. Thank you! Lucy, Danny and George (Essex)

Nothing.

A lovely, clean guesthouse run by a lovely attentive couple. Breakfast was very nice, all made to order....Nothing was too much trouble for them. Parking is really good, just on the road that the guesthouse is situated on.

There wasn't anything to be unhappy about. It was a little bit out of the centre of Windermere, but certainly within walking distance. If walking is difficult for anyone, there is a bus stop at the end of the road that the guesthouse is on, taking you right into the centre of town.

Cozy bedroom. Paula and Richard excellent hosts-friendly, offered helpful advice. Great breakfasts. We stayed a week and would have loved to stay longer. Easy walk from train/bus and down into Bowness to catch the lake and ferries. Also near many nice places to walk the dales. Recommend the Dale way and up to Brant Fell for stunning views of the lake.

The guesthouse is in a quiet area with car parking spaces. The house is lovely and welcoming. Paula & Richard are so lovely. Couldn't do enough for you.. Breakfast were amazing and the coffee a delight. The room was very clean and spacious for us two and being the UK it was a bit nippy out but that was ok as we had heating on which was very nice. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go again. Shame we had to go back home.

The fact we had to come home

The room was very clean, the breakfast lovely apart from the sausage but that’s just personal taste, the host was very friendly and approachable, really enjoyed the stay cannot recommend enough , brilliant

Everything was spot on couldn’t fault it, the only minor thing was a lack of hooks for a coat had to try to hook them on the lock of the cupboard door, wasn’t a big issue but I imagine if the coats are wet then there isn’t anywhere to let them dry but as I said it’s a minor thing in a faultless accommodation

Really lovely little B&B. The hosts really care about you and I love the option of being able to have breakfast in bed. Everything was clean and tidy and the location was absolutely perfect for both Windermere & Bowness.

The only things were that the bed had a bottom and unfortunately (as a very tall couple) our feet were quite uncomfortable during the night as the bed wasn’t long enough and the wifi didn’t reach to our room properly- that’s perhaps just us being picky though!

We loved our stay at Kirkwood Guest House - it is the perfect location between Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere, only a 5-10 minute walk from either town. Paula was so lovey and accommodating and provided us with delicious breakfast every day (I would particularly recommend the waffles) as well as recommending where to eat in the local area. Our bed was so comfy and all the bathroom facilities were great.

The location of the property less than a 15 minute walk from town was perfect, On a lovely quiet street. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, either cooked or continental. Paula & Richard were very helpful with information & directions to point of interest. Lovely comfy room (#2) with plenty of space.

nothing springs to mind... apart from having to leave so soon.
