Tthe hotel has a very nice pared down LA chic vibe. I loved the limestone courtyard and restaurant full of marble tables and palm trees -lovely. The rooms were comfortable and nice sized (jr king) The Staff was excellent and learned our names. It is right across the street from the Farmers Market and the Grove which was fun. Third street had a number of good restaurants within walking distance and centrally located with plenty of Hollywood sights nearby. The pool was quite small- certainly nice to have but nothing special. Overall we thought the hotel was an excellent value with plenty of style

No coffeemaker in the rooms!! also none in lobby- we had to go out every morning if we did not go to their restaurant (that did not open until 8am.) Coming from East Coast we wanted coffee earlier than that. There was a heat wave the weekend we were there (I know rare!) and there is virtually no indoor lobby so there was nowhere to meet our group (in for a wedding) that was air conditioned. The courtyard was gorgeous but we were all sweltering. But again heat waves and rain (we had both) are extremely rare here. Lastly and sadly there are a lot of homeless people on Fairfax- the problem is a growing one in all of LA so not specific to this area

The hotel has a lot of quirky charm. Although the rooms are small they are full of interesting retro touches, art books, a comfortable sitting area and quality bedding. There is not alot of storage space but you can ask for a luggage rack. The location is fabulous for visiting the Farmer's Market, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Grove shopping mall. Cantor's Deli is a few blocks down Fairfax.

The lounge muzak that played from 11am until 9-10pm and can be heard in all rooms facing the central courtyard. It's a shame that they can't eliminate this or at least upgrade to more uplifting musical choices.

Very nicely decorated. Chic and modern. The room was very nice and matched expectations. A nice place to relax. I didn't hear neighbors which was a huge plus. Didn't have a great view outside the window but what can you expect in this part of LA! The staff were friendly and the location was good.

Was told there would be a free breakfast available on New Years Day, but it didn't start at the time they told me and when I went to check out it looked like the breakfast was all gone and I had missed it. Wish there was a bit more communication about that or they had started on time since the restaurant was also closed that day.

I love the location of this hotel. The new owners have give the hotel a freshen up and it looks lovely. My room was beautiful

This was my 5th time staying here, first time with the new owners and it being Short Stories instead of Farmers Market. Whilst the hotel has been given a freshen up I feel its lost the warmth that the previous owners provided. The little special touches like cookies in the room, slippers, fresh water in the foyer and snacks ect. have all been removed. I feel the staff lacked enthusiasm also. the wine hour between 3-4 is a silly time to have it on for guests to enjoy, who is back at their room at this time.

Liked how clean the hotel was and the ambiance. The beds were comfy and the rooms were boutique. The expresso machine and welcome drink was a nice touch

The resturant service and food was not up to par. Waited an hour for food when the steak was the excuse. Recieved meal and was cold. One of the dishes looked like salsa was dumped in a bowl. The stay was good but won't eat at the resturant again. Staff was extremely friendly but needed some additional training. Example, if a guest lost their keys, check their ID. My ID was not checked and could have walked in someone else's room.

very close to the farmers’ market and the grove shopping center. very good restaurant at the hotel. hotel has character- bed was very comfortable.

inconsistent cleaning crew. some days were very clean and others not so well cleaned. very stingy with toilet paper. had to keep asking to replenish. inconsistent receptionists: when we arrived, Tyler was there who was super friendly and helpful. rest of the team hit or miss. one person was busy reading her computer and never even looked up to say good morning several times during our stay.

The property is quirky and fun. It is stylish and they have made an effort to add some original touches. It is more boutique hotel than main stream which we really liked. The pool is also sweet and in a small courtyard.

The air con is very loud but we have found that in a lot of Hotels in America. We had different rooms as stayed longer. The rooms in the main building are quieter than the ones across the courtyard on the other side of the restaurant so ask for a room in the main block.

I am currently in a different hotel room in a different city and all I can think about is how Short Stories ruined me for all other hotels.... I decided to splurge and try something nice in LA and my goodness I'm going to be doing it again. I quickly checked in was handed a tasty drink and was walked to my room. The door was opened to the prettiest room I have ever seen. Books abound, a pretty little sitting area, and the most comfortable bed I have ever experienced in my adult life. In fact I had dinner reservations before the show I was going to but I canceled them just like spend more time in the room. It wasn't just pretty, it was comfortable. It had a feel of comfort and it felt lived in though clean it could be. Everything was just gorgeous and well done down to the fact that they provided a black wash cloth for those of us who like to take our makeup off and will prefer not to ruin yet another wash cloth. Not something I can afford all the time but I will be staying here again, I have to it was too perfect. Oh I also forgot to mention it's on Fairfax right across from the Grove? I heard nothing nothing. No traffic noise, nothing. It's like there's some magic bubble that covers covers the entire hotel. I also need to come back and try the restaurant and bar because it all looked so cool.

The only request, and it's a mild one, is that there be a makeup mirror. Though there is a walk up full length mirror available which helps for those of us with bad eyesight.

The location is perfect, close to Hollywood, WeHo, Silver Lake, and easy access to downtown, Beverly Hills and the beaches. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Bed was perfectly firm. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The hotel has a restaurant but it wasn’t open for breakfast. It would’ve been nice to have a good coffee I’m the courtyard where the restaurant was located each morning. (The free lobby coffee was just ok).

The feel of hotel is warm and inviting in a hip way, not corporate or cookie-cutter. Staff is pleasant and love outdoor courtyard. Easy to get around since small. Also like minibar selection.

Wish there was coffee in the room, though when asked one was immediately brought up. Valet parking for hotel seemed a bit too expensive. We went to another hotel in West hollywood to meet someone, valet half the price. One last thought - wasn’t crazy about pillows, as much prefer feather to foam.
