Sonesta ES Suites Chicago Waukegan Gurnee

Breakfast was good. Location was a bit tight.

The seating area for breakfast was a little cramped. Seating was not readily available.

The facility and staff were good. The rooms were nice and large very accommodating

First time staying in an ES so it was confusing that there was no cleaning done at all during the 4 days we were there. It would be nice to have something in the rooms or given upon check in that explains procedures. We had a huge pile of dirty towels and over flowing garbage bags at the end of the four days. Had to go ask each day for clean towels. Chairs were old and very worn. Coffee table leg broken. It didn't bother me just think that it should be replaced.

We liked the tranquil outdoor settings. The grounds is beautifully landscaped. We liked our studio set up, it comfortably accommodated my family of 3. I appreciated the kitchenette and was able to bring in our on groceries to prepare our breakfasts to our liking. Good location close to Walmart, restaurants and Great America.

The bed wasn’t the most comfortable for me but it was fine for my wife and son. We made reservations for three people but only received two sets of towels and so when I requested for a third from the lobby, I quickly received what I needed. Unfortunately, trash littered the entrance of building a due to people depositing their garbage from their rooms in the single receptacle that was outside the buildings; however, the garbage was removed the next day. Note: due to Covid, some services were limited like housekeeping but the establishment did their best to accommodate as well as we did to make our lodging and rest time enjoyable here.

The staff was super polite and friendly. The rooms exceeded expectations in size. The dressing area had a huge countertop, plus a couple of shelves for toiletries to keep them from getting wet - nice! There was also a real hair dryer, not one of those wall-mounted things that only have one speed (low) and one heat setting (incinerate). The room was fully equipped with dishes and cookware. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of storage space if you want to unpack and stay for a while. The location is great - only a few miles from the Navy Base at Great Lakes and plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. This would be a great place for families. The value for the room size and amenities is exceptional.

This is being very nit-picky, but there are no usb ports built in. There were plenty of electrical outlets, but our phones seemed to charge super slowly. It would have also been nice to have some disposable cups for the bathroom area. I don't know if they offer them - I kept forgetting to ask. We also had an issue with our tv randomly switching back to the main menu, interrupting what we were watching as it would also display the first channel on the list. Not a huge issue because we weren't there to watch tv, but still somewhat annoying. It was reported but not fixed by the time we left.

It exceeded my expectations. I went there with my husband and mother for my son's Navy Boot Camp graduation. This hotel was in a quiet area with tons of amenities, it was close to the base (2.2miles) but not so close that it was crawling with other recruits. The town of Waukegan is really focused on the boot camp graduations, which happen every Friday. I could not believe that this hotel wasn't included in the Navy's materials for planning your stay there. The women staffing the front desk, Christina Webb and Samiya, were so friendly and familiar with the Navy process and customs. We loved talking to them about our sailor.

Nothing. It was all really good. I wish I would have brought my dogs. I wish I had stayed longer. My expectations weren't very high-I looked for an air bnb first because that's usually cheaper, not so for Waukegan. Staying in a hotel was my second choice, and everything about this place was perfect, at less than half the price of an air bnb.

I'm giving this hotel a 9 for the overall value for money, which was exceptional. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful. They had a nice little shop area with drinks and some bottles of wine. In the room, some of the furnishings were a bit beat up/dated but everything was clean which is what's most important to me. The A/C worked fantastic, we had an ice maker in the fridge, and the bed was comfortable. The set up was perfect for a couples weekend in the two queen suite, which had an adjoining living room/kitchen and two separate queen bed rooms with their own bathrooms.

Our particular room had the shower soaps broken off from the wall, which was skeevy. We brought our own soap. There are two things that could make this place a 10. 1) upgrade the continental breakfast, which was pretty sad. 2) increase the pool/hot tub hours. They have an outdoor pool area which was fabulous but it's only open 10am-9pm. We were doing activities all day and had to leave shortly after 10, didn't get back till 8, so we barely got to use it. On a beautiful summer day it should be open longer. They did strictly kick out about 20 of us in the pool area as soon as the clock struck 9.

The place is charming and welcoming. Rooms are clean and well stocked with basic necessities during your stay. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. The lady in the morning that attends the breakfast is super nice and helpful. Also the lady that checked me in was very kind and knowledgeable about the navy graduation ceremony. Am definitely coming back to stay again whenever I visit my son sooner than later.

The grounds were beautiful. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. We liked the kitchenette and the supplies provided in there. We ended up needing to check out early because we were in that location because our some graduated from Navy boot camp and ended up leaving 2 days earlier than we expected so there was no reason for us to stay. I called to ask if we could cancel the next days reservation late that evening (so less than 24 hours) and they did it kindly and with no issues. I was shocked and impressed.

The breakfast was a bit bleak.

The location is great, the room was clean and the toiletries were always available upon request. Waking up to available breakfast was awesome.

The night shift staff was great and very pleasant to work with but the the front lady in the mornings was so rude and dismissive every day I stayed in. I checked out by the time housekeeping was arriving and she still charged me a late checkout.

Breakfast was simple but good and the timing was really good. Were able to grab food really early in the am.

The sofa in our room was lob sided as if a part of it had some very heavy weight and not very comfortable.
