The staff is friendly, rooms are very clean and they give you a doggie bag with towels and linens to help keep things clean. Very peaceful, easy walk into town, close to stores and gas, with a great little taco shop near by. They now have a food truck but it wasn’t open on the Saturday I was there.
Their coffee in the room. It’s not coffee, it’s watered down tea so bring your own or walk to the gas station if you like real coffee in the morning.

This is an old time motor inn where you park in front of your room. We received a text early on the day we were arriving with our room number and a message to let them know if there was anything we needed. We were quite late getting there but they came right out when we rang the bell to check in. We were handed an old fashioned key to open the door with and honestly, we weren't sure what we would find when we got in the room... We were definitely surprised..... The room was huge and decorated in a rugged, western style decor. No curtains on the windows but wooden shutters you close and latch. The bed frames looked like they were hand carved out of logs... the bathroom was very clean and neat and the shower was HUGE..... you could have a party in there. I liked the fact that the coffee center was a huge counter with a tall fridge under it and it was ice cold. This room was the cheapest we paid on our 6 night vacation and the bed was THE most comfortable one we slept in. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I was ever in the area....We did leave very early the next morning, so we just dropped our key in the drop box and didn't get to visit with anymore but they couldn't have been more pleasant when we checked in.
nothing.... it was all very good

Great property and it is in a great location in Chama. It was very quaint and clean. Staff was extremely friendly.
It was extremely hot outside and hot in the room. The room was west facing and I was surprised they did not have the shudders on the window closed so the sun did not heat up the room. There were no vacancy and it would have been nice if they had turned on the air before my arrival. I had to open the window and get the fan out of the closet and put on the window seal because it was cooler outside than inside. It did cool off early in the am but it would have been nice if the staff had been proactive in cooling the room before the guest arrived. I would have been willing to pay more in the summer if the room were cooler.

The folks that own and operate this place really go all out to make sure you're happy. Having snowshoe rentals was a blessing because we couldn't get up the mountain to ski so it was nice to have another fun outing closer to the hotel.
It was a wee bit snug for three women to share the room. I would have liked some hooks on the walls or ways to hang things other than the small closet. The toilet paper holder needs to be replaced. It's too institutional. The town isn't walker friendly. That isn't the Chama Trails fault.

We enjoyed our stay so much here. The staff was so friendly and helpful every time I called before arriving and while we were staying there. Everything was very clean and nice. They also checked to make sure we had everything that we needed. It was a lovely experience. Thank you!
I can't think of anything that I would have changed.

We were in Chama for the train. The Cumbres Toltec. We stayed at the Chama Trails Inn and it was very nice and clean. The people were friendly. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was modern had already been refurbished.
No complaints about the property, however, I do have a complaint about Chama. The town of Chama has very little restaurants available before and after the train departures. We ended up going to the grocery store to buy food.

The Chama Trails Motel is exactly what you need after a long day of travel. They are in a great location, the staff is super nice, the rooms are comfy, the food truck out front is super yummy, and my favorite part…the WiFi was so good I could sit out on the picnic table with my laptop to take care of some work I needed done.

Top quality remodel. The owners have taken care of every detail outside and in. It's a very welcoming southwestern exterior, and when we walked into the room, it was an immediate "wow" from both of us. Very nicely decorated and finished. Super comfortable in every way. Even out-of-the-ordinary but appreciated bathroom dispensers. Just a nice touch. The motel is very conveniently located to highways. I would highly recommend staying here.

It is quite uncommon for me to provide high praise for any property I visit, but I am more than happy to share that my expectations were totally exceeded by the Chama Trails Inn. My wife and I were in town to ride the Cumbres & Toltec Railway the next day, and we arrived shortly before sunset. The Inn is run by a lovely, sweet couple, Manny & Kabrina, who introduced me to their beautiful little daughter. They shared that when they first arrived in Chama, they were guests of the Inn in Room 18, which is the room I was offered. The room was very comfortable, with high beam ceilings which felt more like a bungalow than a hotel room. It has a charming western feel, appropriate for this 'old west' town. They offer a great premium locally roasted coffee to wake you up in the morning, and the property is exceptionally clean and well maintained. I felt that I received exceptional value for my money - and by the way, in the office, thee is a large-gauge model train which runs the circumference of the office just below the ceiling. It was lovingly restored by Manny who is looking forward to introducing it to his child when she is a bit older. When I arrived, my wife and I were hoping to head out for dinner; and were aware that places would soon be closed. Kabrina made a couple of call for me, and confirmed the availability of a place she recommended - which was great! The room worked out great, it was charming, and the next morning, we were even allowed to check our luggage in their office while we enjoyed our time on the railroad. If you are traveling to - or passing through Chama, New Mexico, I can sincerely recommend the Chama Trails Inn for am exceptional stay and great value.
I only wish the fridge was a bit bigger, but then, that's just me.

Nice room. It was clean and we did inform them of our dog that was with us. They provided a "Welcome Bag" with items for our dog. We were able to park right in front of our room. There was a food truck on site, but we did not have a chance to try it out. May be next time.
