The on-site amenities were really stand out. They had live music on Saturday night. We thought they had an outdoor grill only but were pleasantly surprised to find an entire outdoor kitchen with propane grill and range as well as a sink. We played cornhole and horseshoes. Their on-site ice machine was a blessing and if you happen to fish, they have a fish cleaning area too. Netflix is included with the in-room televisions so, no need to log in to your personal account. Location was good with plenty of shops and restaurants close by. Only a mile away from the lighthouse and plenty of nearby beach accesses.

AC was a bit loud but it works and kept us comfortable.

Staff was super nice. We had the kitchenette, plenty of utensils, full refrigerator, and stove. It is a bit redneck, that's OK because we are too. Lot of improvements going on, a bit slowed down because of Covid & inflation. Fire pit, horseshoes, bean bag, kayaks. Had a problem with bathroom faucet, had it fixed in less than 30 min. Would be interesting to see when they have all their projects completed. Would definitely come back!

Had to leave early because of family. Staff were super helpful getting our money back for our unused day.

Location is ideal! You can drive out to the point and back without airing up or down your tires (awesome for frequent surf-fishing outings) and anything you need is either right there at the motel or within walking/biking distance (and bikes are provided) - including great restaurant options! Great pool, great space for pet. Very friendly and accommodating staff, good spacious rooms.

Noisy AC affected evening relaxation, motel's amenities still under construction so some construction noise also.

Centrally located motel close to the fishing spots we frequented and to the various local restaurant choices nearby for dining out. We were surprised how quiet it was being so close to a busy road. We were pleasantly pleased with how clean our room was. Will return late fall and stay at the dog friendly Swell Motel.

We stayed at The Swell for 1 night while we were helping our son move. The motel was very clean and quiet. We did not go to the beach but it was not far away. The Swell is a basic motel that has been renovated. I will stay there again when visiting my son. I think is was a good value for the money.

The window air conditioner was new but a little noisy.

Location. Convenient for fishing. Right in the middle of all the OBX fishing ramps, also restaurants, convenient store, bait&tackle shop and others are all in walking distance from the motel. Motel rooms were clean and updated. Lots out outside construction/ upgrades going on. Hotel staff literally worked from sun up to sundown on improving the entrance and outside activities.

the room was recently refurbished. beds were comfortable and the linens very nice. we road around on the bikes a bit. the pool looked terrific, we just didn’t have time for it. quiet. the staff was very nice. outdoor kitchen was available and picnic tables were clean.

the air conditioner is loud.

Spur of the moment trip for me and I got lucky enough to get a room for my birthday. I had the sweetest “Happy Birthday “ with a little gift in my room when I checked in and that was so thoughtful of them . It was absolutely perfect, I wish I could have stayed longer but I will be back asap !!!

This was the cleanest pet friendly place we have stayed outside of 4 star hotels. The owner is wonderful and has really thought of everything! We loved having access to the outdoor grills and even a porch to watch the rain! Hands down my favorite motel we have stayed at yet!

This is a cute little rustic style motel. Very clean and tidy. There is a small microwave, coffee pot, fridge, and TV. Instead of dressers, there are long shelves for your clothes and whatever you want to unpack. Hardwood floors so you can just sweep up the sand you track in (broom and dustpan in the room). There is a hose outside to rinse your feet, and chairs outside each room. They have a fire pit set up, as well as picnic tables and a nice little pool. There is even an air pump to pump up your tires! The bed was super comfortable, and lots of pillows, some squishy, some firm. The room stayed cool, the shower had good water pressure. Super close to beach access and several really good restaurants. There is also a little art gallery attached! The owner is really awesome, and makes you feel welcome. We had a great stay, and we will definitely be back!!

The towels were a little rough. Definitely clean and not stained or anything, they were just not terribly soft.
