The location is wonderful - right downtown and close to shops and cafes. The building is historic and the decor is old-world elegance (high ceilings, tall windows, chandeliers). Internet access is provided and is easy to access.

The hotel needs to rethink the impression it makes as people enter the lobby. It is not welcoming, it appears pretentious. The hotel obviously wants to deter non-guests from casually walking around, using the restrooms or visiting the cute gift shop. The entry way is a small, cramped space with a sign that says stop here for staff that is separate from the nearby reception desk. It detracts from the sense of elegance found on the second floor and throughout the hotel.

This was once one of the fanciest hotels in Oregon and it has been renovated and restored to some of its former glory. The rooms are large for a historic property. The location is perfect for a visit to Baker City. The staff is pleasant and helpful. It's dog-friendly. Beautiful mountain views from some rooms.

It was restored in the 1990s and in many ways it still seems stuck in that era: DVD players instead of streaming services; a second-floor library filled with Danielle Steel books. Even the restaurant menu seems dated with bread pudding as the featured dessert.

The atmosphere of the hotel was wonderful. It was like stepping into the late 17th century. The architecture was splendid and the warm enveloping feeling of the Grand was unlike any place I have stayed. The staff were very nice and helpful. The bar and dining staff were professional.

The tour of the hotel could have been longer and more informative. Much of the place (that is still in restoration phase) was off limits for observation. The TV and DVD picture were very poor.

A grand old hotel in the small town in the Oregon outback. We appreciated the look and feel of the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. if you are looking for perfection in period furnishings do not come here. Quite amazing that the restoration was able to be done considering it was to be torn down for installation of a parking lot. Certainly 2 years of Covid circulating did not help income. Comfortable beds and bathrobes. Check out time was 12:00 noon.

Felt the food was a bit lacking in variety. probably could have used a pasta dish (not vegan) and some chicken options.

Grand entrance outside and in. Fabulous lobby, dining area and large rooms to say the least. Fabulous customer service. Loved all the history and pictures. Take time to go downstairs to see the remodel pictures and in the cafe. Great dinner and breakfast! The food is as wonderful as the accommodations.

It’s so amazing it is hard to improve upon. Would have liked to have the wine cellar open for viewing. Seemed like a lost opportunity that it looked like was being used for storage. But did see they host a wine dinner in there that would be amazing. Would be nice to see open year round.

When my aunt lived in Baker, she would take us to dinner at the Geiser Grand, and when we visited recently, we though it might be fun to stay there. The hotel has been fully renovated, with attention to detail, and we were delighted with our stay. The room was large, the beds very comfortable, and with 12' ceilings, it gave us a taste of bygone elegance not often available to travelers in these modern times. Breakfast was excellent, and served well.

Hard to think of anything that didn't meet our expectations.

We loved the period furniture combined with the modern conveniences. The beautiful wood and chandeliers made it easy to visualize how the hotel may have looked in it's earlier life. We especially enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant under the beautiful stained glass ceiling.

We would have enjoyed having breakfast in the dining room, but it was closed the morning we left.

Wow! I don't think I had considered a trip to Baker City before, but after our stay at the Geiser for a single night we're already considering coming back. We were traveling cross-country for our move and needed a pet-friendly hotel for the night. The Geiser was warm, friendly, opulent, comfortable, luxurious, and fun all in one. We ordered room service and the food arrived hot and delicious, served by the friendliest staff! We stayed in room 302 (the Lady in Blue suite) and believe we even had a little "spiritual" company. The bed was comfy, the tub divine and the room so beautiful. Every interaction we had with the staff was warm and inviting. Just a perfect stay in a gorgeous place.

This hotel is a beautiful gem. The entire building, woodwork and stained glass are beautiful, and the staff was incredibly friendly. This is a well preserved piece of history and I am so glad we stayed. It might be a little bit haunted, but that made the stay even more fun!
