The staff was very kind and helpful, the gardens were gorgeous and the views beautiful. They had several seating areas by the water and a fire pit as well. The rooms were spacious and all of the linens were crisp and clean. They had plenty of coffee in the room and any type of glasswear needed. They were very dog friendly, and everyone's pets were well behaved. We didn't hear a peep out of anyone else's dog the entire time. Kid friendly, dog friendly and a beautiful location! If you are traveling with family or with a dog, it's a great place to stay and feel welcomed.

The stairs have gaps where you can see down which was scary for our young child and dog- we had to carry the dog down the stairs because she refused to go down. The carpet on the balcony was a bit odd and weathered. These are by far not big deal items in the long run and I'd definitely stay again.

The flower gardens here are beyond beautiful! From the entranceway to our room we were greeted with overflowing flowers. Stop and smell the roses - they are delightful! There is a tiered garden with a picnic area right on the Columbia River Gorge! We watched boats from our third story balcony and woke up to a view of the river and mountains. Room was large, very clean, bed was very comfortable. Nice design provided parking close to room and we only had to walk one level due how the building fit into the rocks. Nice touch was a book with historic photos from the family owned motel.

Nothing at all - we loved everything about it and would stay again. Don't miss the Stone Hedge Garden restaurant within a 3 mile drive - very romantic historic house and garden with the best food on our 2 week trip!

Best Value in Town. The seccond story courtyard facing room we had was fresh and new and very clean with high ceilings and large windows and a deck overlooking a view of mature trees and beautiful grounds. The river overlook is stunning with beautiful gardens and sweeping view of the river and gorge. If you want something that is not a chain hotel surrounded by parking lot. THis is it

The entrance to teh place is a bit deceiving. There is a vacant lot and a wine bar that may or may not be in business but dont be worried. Check into the original old school motel office up front and the back area along the river is like an oasis

The room was lovely, clean, spacious and wonderful river view with a balcony! The colors were bright and cheerful without white. the bedding and pillows were perfect. There was a nice bathroom counter for two women! Even a small pothos plant, a LIVE one. No bad smells. Quiet. Microwave, fridge, coffee pot. I so enjoyed the balcony on the river.

Really small frustration: 1) no one at the desk at check in. Being tired, we waited quite awhile. She said she was getting her lunch. 2) Parking was odd and our assigned parking was in front of someone's room and it annoyed them. 3) I understood the site to say there was a restaurant; there isn't. We went next door and it was adequate. Take your food and wine as there is a nice picnic bench on the river.

The view of the Columbia River from our balcony was stunning! The property landscaping was also very appealing. Our room was quite spacious, with more than enough room to set up both dog kennels. Pet fee was a reasonable $10/dog/night.

Outside appearance of all the buildings on the property looked dated, especially compared to the Columbia Gorge Hotel next door, but never judge a book by its cover! Price also seemed pretty steep. We paid $270 for 2 people, 1 night, mid-week, & room with 2 queen beds. Yikes! (Also included the reasonable fee for 2 dogs,)

The view from the balcony rooms is million dollar. On a cliff above the Columbia a person can see the river, watch wind surfers and boating traffic. The facilities are older which is a plus for us, and well maintained. It's a lovely property with green lawns and flowers. It is a quick 5 minute drive to historic Hood River and the river walk.

Non river front properties appear to be less desirable though we didn't look inside..

Great view of the Columbia River from our room as well as the beautiful flowers on the property. The room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean for an older property. They do an extraordinary job of maintaining the buildings and grounds. We would definitely stay here again.

Park away from the sprinklers or your car will get washed. Be sure to roll up the windows. Expected Booking.com to give me my discount but they didn't.

The room was very comfortable, and the grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on the tables that overlook the river. We will definitely stay here again!

I guess our only comment is that the bathroom is pretty small. However, we understand it is an older hotel and not much can be done about that. Really no complaints!

room very clean, up-to-date and comfortable. We were expecting freeway noise, but there was none once door was closed. loved how spacious and clean the place was.

Pillows are all big and lumpy. A couple thinner ones would have made us more comfortable. A heads-up to us turn off the refrigerator if not needed would have prevented it from cycling on and off throughout the night, which disturbed both our sleeps

The well-maintained grounds with its flower gardens and views of the Columbia River was a huge bonus! Though our room did not have the river view, it was spotless, nicely decorated, and had a small patio with views of the beautiful grounds.

The buildings could use new paint, though some may like the more rustic look.
