Cousin's Country Inn

I loved the huge window, the awesome hot water in the shower, and the overall size of the room. We had a delicious dinner in the adjoining restaurant, with a super friendly server (didn't catch her name, but she had a cat face mask on). If we ever stay at The Dalles again, we will stay here.

The only problem was the card key for the room door. I had to try 3 to 5 times to get it to work....but, that was a very minor inconvenience.

The restaurant was good. Not many healthy options for vegetarian on the menu but it was very good. We had take out for dinner and then enjoyed the Sunday buffet 9-2. It was very good with a lot of options. We were given a 20 percent off voucher. I appreciated that the room and bathroom were clean.

It wasn’t the fault of the hotel but the people above us seemed like they were running laps in the room and very loud non stop. The people next to us left their dog in the room for 2 hours barking, while I assume they went to dinner. And then again at 6:00 am, yapping dog woke me up. (We also had to dog with us that was a bit stressed for the dog). We had to pay a pet fee and you would never know we had a dog with us…..

The vaulted ceiling rooms were reasonably priced and beautiful. Very quiet could not hear neighbors. Great accommodations! The bar/restaurant was above and beyond!! Tway was an excellent server juggling bartending and serving was no problem for him. Loved the personality he brought to the table and even though the kitchen ran out of shrimp, he resolved it with a cinnamon roll. The largest cinnamon roll I have EVER seen!! Great service!! Didn’t like that we lost $40 to the slots, but that’s on us. Ha! AM front desk staff was great at getting me ALL the receipts for our rooms with much patience on their part. Thanks!!

The front desk could not find my reservations right away. I had to tell them to look again. Made me look unprofessional in front of my participants, however they eventually found them and apologized.

Check-in was very easy, super friendly staff, coffee available at check-in. Right off the freeway so easy overnight on a trip (not sure how it would be for a longer stay). Large shower and lots of counter space for the sink. good size room with a table and 2 chairs. The mini fridge is a good size and has a small freezer section that actually freezes.

Hotel provided late checkout (great!) but forgot to tell housekeeping. housekeeping was SUPER nice about it, but would have been nicer for both housekeeping and us if the front desk had made the note for housekeeping.

The room overall, was well laid out, nicely done and clean (except for one thing--the full, plugged poop toilet.

The full, plugged poop toilet. I checked in and went to the room. It looked nice, clean, nice bathroom. But I did not check the toilet till about 9 pm and ready for bed, only to find the toilet plugged. What the back story was, I don't know. The toilet and bathroom looked very clean. So, why was the toilet plugged and full of poop??!! it made no sense unless staff slipped in later and used the toilet but left it. Then to add to the fiasco, I could not get anyone at the desk to answer the phone. I had to get dressed and walk down to the desk. It took another 30 minutes before it was clean and workable.

Spacious, pleasant and clean room. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Comfortable beds. Delicious fresh baked cookies at the reception desk. Restaurant was cheerful and served large, tasty portions.

It was a little difficult to negotiate the entrance as this is a commercial strip with various buildings; only later did we realize there was a more convenient entrance from a side street.

The shower water pressure was awesome! Most hotels are so stingy with the water flow, it's a hassle to shower lol

Well, the room really really really reaked of cigarettes and we mentioned it to the office minutes after we entered the room, they were fully booked so we delt with it. The girl said we would be discounted...not sure if that's happening or not, but that was really the big complaint and the a/c onna timer was a little frustrating onna hot summer night )

Our stay was comfortable. I was a little hesitant at first about no corridor outside our door, because these days facilities are more like hotels with inside corridors. But, after a bit, we got used to it. Plus, our room was protected by another Cousins building. We were amazed at the food which was more like country home cooking. For dinner we had pot roast, potatoes, gravy and vegetables. The portions were more than enough and was excellent. For breakfast, I had French toast with sausage and my wife had a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was huge so it took both of us to finish it. Very good. Strongly recommend Cousins.

A little dated but still acceptable.

It was a great stay. Loved the restaurant on site as well as a pool and hot tub. Room was big and clean, and we had a great stay. Shower was big and roomy. Beds were comfortable and felt very safe and clean. Thank you for the early check in.

The AC was behind a wall so highly inefficient on a very hot day. Would really be helpful to fix that or at least provide a fan. The hot tub and pool closed too early for a summer night and we were very disappointed we were not able to enjoy that at all....which is partly why we wanted to come there. Oh well. Did not care for everyone calling me cousin...lol.

Everything was excellent. They actually leave vacant rooms between guests when they're not fully booked! I've wondered why no one ever did that in all my travels and I so very much appreciated a silent hotel room with no noise whatsoever. Clean, comfortable and attached restaurant had a great steak to go with a much appreciated glass of wine after an epic ten hour drive avoiding snow, through Utah, Idaho and eastern Oregon. Best hotel ever for a very reasonable price.

Not a thing. All superb.
