As with most motels, there is no food on site but there is a good steakhouse just around the back. However, worth knowing that McLean was until recently a dry town in a wet county: ie no alcohol (wine/beer/spirits) served. This is still (as of May 2023) true of the steakhouse, otherwise good food. There is one bar in town which is a 10 minute walk in the other direction, opposite a very good breakfast cafe/diner The barbed wire museum is definitely worth looking at, hard to believe but absolutely true.

The staff was super friendly. The room was much larger than your average motel room. There was popcorn available free of charge in the room. It is an older building but it seems Cactus Inn is keeping it updated. If you're staying in McLean, make sure to check out the Cactus Rose Taphouse as well 🙂

There was a missing cover on an outlet (not a big deal but it may be scary to some). Hopefully that got fixed since our stay. Everything else was perfect!

Great price and a fantastic little Inn. Felt like we had stepped back in time with the decor and look of the Inn. It was like we had gone down Route 66 and pulled in for the night. But it had all the things you could want for today's times. A nice TV with cable and smart services, a coffee pot, fridge and microwave. Very clean room and comfortable beds.

Room is dated, but still clean. Faucet handle in bathroom was loose fitting but worked. Pillows were too thick for me, but my wife loved them.

I have know about the Cactus Inn for several years and have eaten a few times at the Red River Steakhouse. I read good reviews I thought it would make a place for an overnight stay. I was very pleased and would recommend it to anyway who wants a quiet place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of I-40. The Red River Steakhouse house is excellent and the other restaurant, the Chuckwagon, also is good.

This is a wonderful, reasonably priced place to stay, east of Amarillo and on the way to Oklahoma (in my case). The owner is very involved in upgrading this motel and has already done a great job (big flat screen TV, updated doors, and redecorating to reflect the Rt 66 identity of the place). The room was comfy, the Wifi was strong, and the owner suggested some fun places to eat and explore in tiny but fascinating McLean. Well done! A lovely little oasis.

The mattress on my bed was not as comfortable as I was hoping. In the next wave of upgrades, better sheets and a newer (less sagging) mattress might be in order.

Its a quaint little single level inn. Owner was very kind and met me as a late arrival. The room was immaculate and I know they are working on upgrades as monies are available. They only bought property last year. Felt very safe as a woman traveling alone.

Love the old time setting and look. Always clean and the staff is amazing. Feel like I just came down old route 66 and stopped for the night. Huge rooms with charming decor.

The steakhouse next door is closed on Monday's! Haha Not their fault but only bad thing I could think of.

I was looking for an authentic Historic Route 66 motel to stay at and this was it. The room had been expanded by 50% from it's original Route 66 heyday size (three rooms turned into 2) The decor was patriotic in theme, with copies of the US Flag, Constitution and Declaration of Independence hanging on the wall 👍.

Staff is very nice. Cute individually decorated rooms. Bottled water and popcorn sitting g on the microwave fridge. Great price. Enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night to catch up on sleep. Chuckwagon just down the road serves real Texas food at good prices

Sink was a bit sketchy but really not an issue. It was clean. Just thinking g of a negative was hard. Nice place.

The room was very clean. The owner was very friendly and made us feel like we more than a hotel guest. She also owns a tavern in town that is usually closed on Sunday’s but she opened it up for us to experience her Route 66 renovation.
