Marcus Whitman Hotel and Conference Center

This place is AWESOME. The minute you walk in, it is breathtaking in its vintage beauty. One you are done ogling the lobby, the people at the front desk are AMAZING. Everyone we talked to there was super helpful, but shout out to the hotel manager who personally checked me in and offered me an upgrade to the best fricking suite in the hotel at only a slight upcharge (because the hotel was pretty empty, as we were there during Christmas). He was also kind enough to get us a bunch of free wine and distillery tastings, and also directed us to the nearby downtown and gave great recommendations for places to eat. Hot breakfast on the daily was pretty decent. We also ate at the restaurant one night and it was delicious, and the service was TOP. NOTCH. The room was HUGE and clean and comfortable. Everything about our stay was 100% amazing and we will definitely stay here again in the future.

Nothing, really. If I have to say something negative, it's maybe that I wish there was slightly more variety for breakfast? Like maybe more protein choices?

There was minimal effort put into the "free and included" breakfast buffet. I have had no worse at a Holiday Inn express. The historic portion of the hotel was nice. The staff at check in was great and helpful. I wish the morning checkout group was as welcoming.

The bar staff had a nice time visiting with guests, the only other table in the room. However I sat without even getting eye contact from the barman or waitstaff for over ten minutes. I guess I would not expect this with 3 people serving two tables.

Really enjoy staying at this Hotel. Not only are their wine shops within the hotel, we were able to walk right into lovely downtown and enjoy many other wineries, breweries, and shops. So the location is excellent. Also loved the fact that our room did not have carpet but was hardwood-like flooring and very clean! The breakfast was great and the lounge area in the back of the restaurant was perfect for a great nightcap. The hotel also has many areas in the reception location where patrons can congregate and lounge, playing piano, having conversations, it lends itself very well to a traveler's community.

Insisting that you "register for a table" when you are taking food to your room by an officious staff person was awkward; then as it turned out there was nothing for us to eat except for potatoes and monkey bread? Oatmeal would have been nice, some fresh fruit, e.g. apples, bananas would have been nice (instead of that packaged stuff). Not all of us eat animals and sugar for breakfast. Good thing we brought some of our own food. A microwave in the room would have been a helpful addition. Oh and the coffee mugs in our room had to be handwashed to remove residue from dishwasher (?)

The Marcus Whitman Hotel truly exceeded our expectations. The hotel is managed with an attention to every detail with high standards. The hotel itself has warm, impeccable grace and Old World charm. Cleanliness is in high regard accompanied with pleasant scents anywhere you go, including the restrooms. The staff is welcoming, helpful and charming. The room was exceptionally clean, well decorated & incredibly comfortable. The neighborhood is very quiet and well located within very easy walking distance to everything in historic Walla Walla. Parking is abundant along with many entrances to the hotel for easy loading/ offloading. Breakfast had a nice array of buffet options to include table service. Sitting by the fireplace at the end of the day, glass of wine in hand or not was lovely. Staying at the Marcus Whitman was an unexpected treat in Walla Walla to say the least. Thank You!

First of all the greeting by the manager. I arrived in Walla Walla quite early so thought I'd get checked in with the paperworkd but they were able to upgrade my room to the tower and let me check in on the spot. I was so appreciative of that. Second, the room was beautiful (rm 5007), quiet with nice views from the rooms. The hotel itself had so much to offer with wine tasting rooms, artwork, location and lots of history ... it was beautiful.

Not all the wine tasting rooms were open, and neither was the restaurant ... but it wasn't a big disappointment. Overall the hotel was delightful.

Location and charm

Several surfaces were dirty. Countertop of wet bar, glass table top had not been cleaned requiring us to wipe them. We decided not to call the main desk to have staff clean them, fearing they will use more of the pungent, overpowering, smelly products. We had to leave the room upon arrival, with windows open, because of the chemical stench of air freshener or cleaning products. It would be advisable to review the kind of cleaning products used,as well as the quality of the cleanup.

Very close to downtown shops and the farmer’s market, liked the parking. Everything was clean and staff were receptive and friendly. Breakfast was included and the fruits were nice.

Such a big property and no pool?? Bit outdated appliances and security but good if you like the retro feel. Room was a bit small but comfortable.

The staff is great. So helpful and accommodating. Everyone including the security guard made sure we were having a good time. The breakfast is good, nice to have coffee out there early, good fitness room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Maybe a cereal option, bananas toast...otherwise all good

The staff was absolutely incredible. The manager checked us in and went above and beyond to make our experience amazing. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. We were presented with a map of local businesses, free tastings and live music events. The remote wasn't working so I went downstairs and spoke with the night doorman. He let me know that I could have called down and was shocked when I told him about a terrible experience at a different hotel. He checked the batteries, went to grab a brand new remote, came up to the room, programmed it and made sure everything was working right. It was so appreciated!

We stayed in the West Wing and were a little disappointed with the lack of character. The room was excellent but unfortunately didn't have the flair we expected.
