The Schoolhouse Hotel

The staff was fantastic and very accommodating with our requests. We really liked the size of the King room, and the very large bathroom. We were very pleased with how comfortable the bed was as well. It is nice to see a hotel that is entirely ADA compliant.

Not having a closet in the room was very inconvenient for us. However, when we explained to the clerks at the front desk, they brought up a clothing rack with several hangers, which we truly appreciated their professionalism in making sure our stay was comfortable. Suggestion would be to state which rooms have closets on the website since the local Greenbrier has a preferred dress code and guests may bring nicer attire for dinner; or perhaps having a wardrobe or dresser in rooms for clothing storage would be great.

The place is exceptionally clean and exquisitely designed. What a wonderful repurposing of a city icon. The hotel staff and restaurant staff are very nice and accommodating. We enjoyed drinks on the rooftop although the bar there had not opened, they made furniture available and it was a cozy environment to listen to live music downtown and enjoy the stars and views.

An opportunity for the room amenities may be a workspace. I used my laptop in the bed, but a small bedside table or something similar to pull close would have helped.

To be honest I just didn't like all the electronic buttons. I couldn't figure out how to turn on lights and was afraid of being locked in the beautiful bathroom. LOL I'm being serious. I learned later you can wave your hand but I was using my card and I thought this is strange. I understand this is really for younger people that think its hip and cool but I'm quite ok with boring switches and normal door knobs to turn for a reduced room price! I thought the $138 was fine especially for how nice it was and how unique they styled everything down to the room name cards.

I liked the theme and the room size. aAll rooms are ADA compliant so the automatic doors, automatic shades and more updated tv setups made it ultra modern. The hotel restaurant was comfortable and deliciously prepared foods.

There were no coffee makers in the room so each morning we had to go down to the lobby to get coffee from thermos at the front desk. For all the automated and new age style, a simple thing like a coffee maker seem like they should me a no brained. Huge fail.

This was an easy and convenient stay for a single night. We were attending a wedding at the Greenbrier and the staff so wonderfully let us into our room with an early check-in to get ready. It is just down the road from the Greenbrier entrance and an easy walk to shops/restaurants in the area. Our room was incredibly clean and featured smart technology for the lighting, TV, google device, and even bathroom. I would definitely recommend this stay! It was worth the price and convenient to explore White Sulfur Springs!

The location is great. New, so clean as a whistle. Dinner in restaurant was good, although they weren't serving breakfast yet (they've just opened; we were among their first guests.) They said they were planning to. The rooftop bar is very nice. The staff were just terrific. The heated toilet seats and the bidet was really nice.

Since it is so new everything is "smart". We had to have them disconnect the bathroom door because we wanted it to stay half open to get dimmer light. The problem with "smart" is that it only goes the way it is programmed. So the shades are all up or all down. The door is all open or all shut. The lights are all on or all off. I prefer to be able to modify lighting, etc. to my needs.

Good location. Rooms and bathrooms are a nice size. Enjoyed the rooftop bar at sunset!

The bathroom needs better lighting over the sink. It's impossible to put makeup on and even hard to shave. It would also be nice if there were reading lights on either sides of the bed.

We loved everything about the hotel! It was very unique, and the staff was amazing! They attended to all our needs.

I wish there was a full length mirror and a small dresser. The air conditioner in our adjoining room started blowing hot air in the middle of the night. That was problematic, but they fixed it the next morning. Unfortunately, it did the same thing the next night after it was fixed. That wouldn’t keep us from coming back. It was an unfortunate glitch in the system.

I really enjoyed the excellent customer service and all areas of this hotel. Wendy, bar worker was friendly, helpful, and fast with service in drinks and food.

There should be a few rooms without all the high tech features, for example the bathroom door needed a hand swipe every time to go inside, and took a while to close. Which also caused privacy issues to other person in room.

Loved the setting. Easy to walk to some shops and restaurants. When I walked into the lobby I felt very relaxed, the same with the room. Loved the exposed brick in the room. Beautiful views from the rooftop!!

I am not a tech savvy person so the smart room wasn't a me thing. It was easy to operate once you got it. Shower wall could have been built out longer so the water didn't splash/seep out into the bathroom area. I wish the lights would dim a bit more.
