Novotel Melbourne On Collins

Great location, friendly and overall a nice hotel.

Still no mini bars in these hotels, unfortunately our room had rubbish in draws and had not been thoroughly cleaned.

Very central location for Melbourne Retail precinct. In walking distance to MCG (20mins). Rooms are quiet because they face into an enclosed courtyard.

The lifts from the street to the lobby are in dire need of servicing or replacement. On our departure, they both broke down. The air conditioning can be a bit stuffy in the rooms and you cannot open the windows. There was some muckup with our room keys - we returned from shopping on the first day to find are keys were no longer active and had to go back to reception to have this fixed. They seemed to have lost our booking in the system. It was a bit frustrating.

Location was fabulous Valet / concierge excellent Indoor / outdoor pool was awesome and my daughter loved it, many families enjoying this! Initially Allocated a room that had a very poor view (rooftop / construction site/ air vents) asked if possible to move and was met with kindness and understanding and given same size-room but floor up And much nicer outlook! May not seem important to some but was a special mother daughter trip and meant a lot. Was no trouble at all to change staff member was lovely ! Thank you it meant a lot. Very quiet overnight no street noise at all!!

Condiments in room very roughly slapped together and not replenished in multiple night stay. Hot choc for kids would be nice in room. Tv terrible if you want to see a movie at end of night have to pay more money for pkg :-( and hard to navigate channels on normal tv)

Staff were amazing, room was clean, close to shops, theatres etc Reception staff member was very nice especially to my little Granddaughter.

We ordered room service for breakfast at 7.45am, I had to ring to see when it would arrive. 8.10 it arrived and sadly everything was cold. Over $80 for breakfast we could not enjoy. Our our departure morning I was in the room when a staff member entered. She did knock but I did not wish to be disturbed but she proceeded to unlock the door and enter. Did not say why she was there and asked what time we were leaving, I told her at checkout time 11am.

The Novotel was a great location, right in the heart of the city and definitely worth staying at, so easy to get around and convenient.. The facilitaties at the hotel were great, clean and well looked after. Breakfast was great and would definitely recommend breakfast.

Whether it was because they were short staffed, manners could have been better from some of the younger staff. Not polite at all and made you feel as if you were bothering them to ask a question. Then there were the concierge and some of the longer standing staff that could not do any more for you and make you feel welcomed. Thank you to those team.

The reason we booked this property was because of its good reviews of breakfast. It certainly didn’t disappoint. Breakfast buffet has really good options and it the best thing, this hotel has offered. Its location which is at the centre of city makes it easy to catch trams and roam around Bourke street mall and other places.

They don’t have own parking. Even though they have a valet service but even for that you have to park car somewhere but being at centre of city its very hard to find parking spot. Instead, I got parking at queens street parking centre for 3 days.

Really good location, clean and comfortable/

We booked valet parking as we required the car at a specific time for an appointment. We booked the car pick up time at with the lady at the desk for the next day. We waited and car did not turn up, we were told there was no booking despite me making it in person the day before and the excuse was the staff member was new. We were very late to our appointment due to this. We also were not told valet parking would be charged extra for the check out day, just that we would pay for two nights. We didn’t appreciate being charged extra for parking when the service of having the car ready at an organised time wasn’t even provided.

location and rooms were great, concierge was very helpful and the car park staff at self park were exceptional.

The staff member that checked me out was rude. Didn’t even look around from her computer screen, couldn’t hear a word she was saying as she was mumbling and had to ask her to speak up. I was waiting patiently to be called forward and was ignore. Very disappointing the level of service provided, what happened to hotel reception being the job that required a level of expertise and customer service all lacking with this individual. I also have nothing against casual Friday, but some staff took it as wearing what you watch Netflix in with the attitude to match.

The location, close to basically everything you need. The staff were friendly and helpful, willing to help with all out question, queries, concerns and feedback. The room was spacious and we had plenty of room with the pram and bags. The decor through the property was fresh and up to date- this place more then what we expected. Breakfast daily was included in our room rate from booking through booking.com. we are so glad we selected breakfast when booking it’s definitely the better and cheaper way to go. the breakfast was amazing every day it was beyond any buffet breakfast ive had.

The only thing we could fault was the housekeeping, only did part of the job but that was rectified super quick. The view from our window was of a building / work site and we did hear some machines. But nothing major

The location was ideal for our requirements i.e. in the heart of the city shopping, plenty of good eating places close by, close to several major train stations and perfectly located within Melbourne's free tram zone.

Overall the staff were not very engaging or attentive. The lighting on the room was interesting e.g. you had to have all the main room lighting on in order to be able to turn on one of the room lamps, which defeated the purpose of the wanting to use the lamp to illuminate the room. Were unable to ultilise the restaurant for lunch.
