Oaks Melbourne on Market Hotel

The room included a taxi from the airport which was waiting , quick check in to a nice size comfortable room in central Melbourne close to free public transport & short walk to many restaurants .

We asked for a room on a lower floor and that was given (floor 2 out of 21). The location is good; close to Collins Street in the 'free tram' centre of Melbourne so it was easy to get to and from other parts of the city. We are an older couple, who were not driving and it felt like a safe place to stay; a very short walk from the tram. The deal we had did not include room servicing but did include breakfast which was ok. The best aspect of breakfast was the chef cooking eggs to order at the self-service area.

The bed was a bit too hard for me. The kitchen area, while good enough in most ways, did not have a sharp knife, no pepper and salt and no dish cloth. Not having room servicing, we needed to request extra toilet rolls. I feel that could have been much better anticipated given that we were booked to stay for 5 nights. It felt unnecessarily uncomfortable.

Very big room with a dream-like bed. Pool & gym on a lower floor. Fantastic location next to bars, all kind of popular stores & supermarkets. You can cross the river in a 10-min walk or hop on the tram and be in 20 min at the beach.

The shower was not ideal since the mixers were in the opposite wall of the shower head and were rather hard to regulate. I missed a more Mediterranean breakfast, but that’s just cultural shock (baked beans, bacons, spring rolls; I missed a bit of avocado, boiled eggs, cheese or even tomato slices for my toasts). However it was a bit disappointing that they didn’t have any kind of vegetal milk for vegans.

Loved our stay here for the annual tennis trip. Great facilities for a family in two interconnected rooms. Teenagers loved the pool and gym (albiet the pool was the same temp as the spa) and mum loved the ease of location close to the city and dfo connected by tram or easy walking paths. Typical Melbourne weather of rain wasnt an issue and they loaned me out an umbrella. Staff were also informed and attentive. Will definitely look to stay next year.

The maze to get to the pool and gym area, up... down... up... steps but hey that is just the small stuff that you cant really change.

The apartment location was excellent, and there was easy access to the Tram network (less than a 2-minute walk from the front door). The bedding was more comfortable than some of the higher-end accommodations we have visited.

The only item that disappointed me was the lack of room servicing for the entire stay, which was worth calling out given the price and duration. A room service once over a four-night stay should be a minimum. To be fair, it was mentioned in the booking details and again at reception, but again, a minimum of once every 2-3 days should be considered.

The staff went above and beyond for us, they complimentary upgraded our room and got us drinks vouchers, the breakfast was fantastic, the staff were hospitable when we needed extra amenities, the room was clean and roomy it was perfect for what we needed. the pool was amazing and the spa was luxurious

The shower/bath combination was a bit small and there wasn't a rail so it got slippery getting in and out. The pool and spa being filled so much meant anytime someone got in or moved so much water went everywhere and it was extremely slippery, there were no pool towels when we went but we brought our room towels down thankfully. There was roadworks out the front which was unavoidably noisy and inconvenient for pickup and drop offs and the nightclub next door meant that it was very rowdy outside

Was pleasantly surprised during our recent 2 night stay at Oaks. We were a family of four who stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was very spacious and had everything we needed including basic kitchen facilities which were useful for bottle sterilising and breakfast. Although the apartment was clearly older and a bit out dated, it was clean and very comfortable. Both check in and check out was efficient and the location was in easy access to all the Christmas events in the city.

There is no ramp access into the building which made it somewhat difficult with the pram. There is a stairlift however you have to press a button each time and wait for a staff member to come out and operate it. Given there were 2 of us, we ended up just carrying the pram up and down however it would be quite inconvenient if I was on my own with the kids or if you were in a wheelchair or had any difficulty managing stairs.

Location was central to the city. The pub at the entrance was a good place to relax. Able to store bags easily. Room was clean.

The main tv didn't have a remote. The bedroom tv picked up a lot of pay channels but all of them were pixellated.

Being close to the city and having everything on our doorstep was a bonus. Our room was nice and all the staff were lovely especially Betty on the front desk who was exceptional!!

We didn't like our a/c in our room not cooling, we had a very uncomfortable night and woke with headaches. Reception gave us a portable air cooler to try but it was noisey and didn't make a huge difference so we moved to a different room with a/c that worked properly. The down side was that our new bed was smaller and the room not quite as nice.

room was great layout and very clean, beds were comfortable, pool and gym facilities were great and hotel staff lovely. Beautiful view of the city and Yarra river as well as Crown casinos flames at night time.

apart from the furniture being outdated and obviously heavily used, the hotel and stay was exceptional. I think it would be beneficial to have some printed information available in the room for things like pool opening hours, breakfast availability times etc so guests can refer back to it on an on need basis. It also would have been nice to have a few recommendations for things to do within a short walk, in support of local community. Again just something printed and kept in the room. Also didnt know the neaest beach was sandridge (below question), had we have known we would have visited it.
