St Georges Motor Inn

The people who run it are so lovely! Our flights got bumped and they were very accomodating in terms of when we could check in, they were very helpful giving directions and they let us store our bags on check out day until it was more convenient to grab them. They also were hyped for us going to Taylor swift which was so fun and lovely. We were a bit worried our accommodation would get cancelled as we kept hearing stories of other people travelling for the concert (who were staying at different hotels) but after getting there we realise they were not the kind of place to do that. It has a real homey feel and it’s so close to the tram line and in walking distance of a cafe strip.

It was fantastic. We came in late from a long drive from Adelaide to Melbourne. Along the way they checked in to see when we would be arriving (after 8pm) and helped us through after hours checkin. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and the bathroom was really nice. The heater was also fantastic. The motor inn is also right next to the tram station with ample parking as well. The next morning when we checked out the receptionist remembered who we were based on the room number (and the place looked packed full of people staying) and noted she made sure we were put in a room away from the busy traffic and trams since she knew we'd had a long drive. It was one of the most impressive and personal experiences I have ever had at any motel, hotel, etc. They obviously take a lot of pride in their business and their customers, which was so appreciated from two exhausted travellers🙌

Literally not a single thing was at fault for us.

We always stay at St George Motor inn whilst in Melbourne. Exceptional friendly service. We needed a ground floor room as hubby has mobility issues, they went above and beyond to help us in everyway. Thankyou so much, it was greatly appreciated! Room was exceptionally clean, bed very comfy, best shower head ever 😂 everything was perfect including the carpark and tram is only across the road. ALDI and Woolies a few streets back. Subway and KFC across the Rd . Everything you need is close by! We look forward to returning! Perfect stay! Thanks again!

Great location. Parking is easy and free. Reception staff welcoming and helpful. Bed was comfortable, Tram stop right out the front to go to the city, food available across the road. Bathroom had been renovated, large shower and great water pressure. Had a back corner room on 1st floor, so traffic noise was minimal. Felt safe as a lady staying by herself, lock on inside of the door and locked gate at the bottom of stairs.

Room itself looked tired, but it is a older motel and renovations take time and money. Parking was not allocated so not sure if there are enough spaces when motel is fully booked as there is no parking on the street. If you require items like toaster & microwave request when booking or on arrival as these ae not already in the room.

Staff were helpful, very accommodating to our needs. Very respectful and took joy in how happy our kids were about being there for a sporting event. 9 rooms organised to suit our needs. Needed something, the staff got it and delivered to the room in a timely manner.

1 other guest in the whole place who complained about noise at 7.30pm when there were of our 21 kids there plus other groups as well. Staff informed them respectfully that until 10 p.m., the kids were fine. Oyr kids were in bed by 9 at the latest. They weren't even being super noisy kids, just happy and chatting, walking from room to room to get organised for the next day. So, not the accommodation, it was a guest.

This Motel is a treasure. It feels like it's in another world. The immediate impression was a well thought out purpose-built building, a commitment to professional hospitality. The business is apparently owned by the man who built it. It's old but the high quality design and sense of a pro-active attentive better than average admin makes up for the age. Excellent. Very clear first impression for me.

Well...there was one thing. Don't expect a toilet brush in the bathroom, and in my chat at check out I could make no headway on that. So strange. I've been in 2 caravan parks in the last 4 days, where pilfering might be expected, and they've both had excellent clean bathrooms with a brush for each bowel. So strange.

The property is very well maintained & the staff are very friendly & helpful … it is located close by tram stops which makes it very attractive & there are adequate restaurant facilities available in walking distance. This was our third stay at St. George Motor Inn & we would be happy to return.

We did have a problem with the air conditioner in our room, although the Melbourne temperature fluctuations were challenging. We would advise a good servicing for this unit. Otherwise, the property perfectly suited our needs.

I had a great stay at St. Georges. The couple running the motel are incredibly kind and lovely people. I had car issues that ended up needing a tow from the carpark so I was that annoying and messy guest. I also had to leave my suitcases and a few bags with reception, due to no car, until about 1pm the next day as I had to attend a funeral that morning. The bags were kept out of the way, safe and secure. The renovated bathroom was very nice, much nicer than mine at home. The queen bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep after an evening of high stress. Tv worked just fine and there was heaps of room to put a suitcase and numerous bags. I had breakfast next morning at the onsite cafe.. toast was hot and the cappuccino was delicious.

At this time, I couldn't pick a fault as the price was extremely reasonable and the hosts went out of their way to help me.

Flexible check in timing. Front desk was really helpful when enquiring about getting into downtown Melbourne. Location was splendid with the tram stops right outside. Allowed us to leave our car on premises after check out. TV channels were entertaining.

Rooms looked dated. Toiletries were basic. The room was functional. I felt it was good for a short stay but it didn’t make me feel like I would stay for more than a night.

We had a large room with a reasonable standard of furniture and fittings. The room was easy to access from the carpark, although some care was needed getting into the car park from the busy main road. Road noise was not intrusive provided the bathroom door was kept closed.

There was only basic equipment provided. While this was adequate, these days it is fairly common for even basic properties to have a microwave. This one didn't. Toiletries provided were adequate, but limited to soap and shampoo.
