Hilton Antwerp Old Town

This hotel is very well located, near all of the tourist attractions, restaurants, bars, tram stops and multiple public (paid) car parks -- we used Brabo as it was less expensive. We've read in other reviews that the hotel was poorly maintained -- this is NOT how we found the hotel or our room. Yes, it's an "older" hotel, so it has lots of *quality* wooden furniture that over the years has obvious signs of wear. But we felt that just gave this hotel some character. All rooms are on levels 3 and 4. Ours was on 3. We had a view outside, to the street, from where we could see a bit of Ghent's skyline: a nice perk! Otherwise, nothing bad to point out: this is a Hilton!

The AC remote was hard to figure out, but after we understood it, it turned out it was working fine. Also, as this hotel had lots of rooms and we ended up in the furthest corner from the elevator, we had a "long" walk to get to the room. "Long" means about 1 minute -- this is not a crazy-big Los Angeles hotel :-)

Everything about the hotel was great. Huge room (Business Room) with both a shower and bathtub, helpful & friendly staff, location right in the middle of Antwerp's Old Town and the breakfast buffet had a huge array of food.

Parking! It was written on the hotel's website - "Parking available at the hotel". NOT! We had to park at the Groenplaats parking garage which is connected to the hotel at Basement Level 1. No problem, very convenient too but when we checked out after our 3 days/2 nights stay, we were told the hotel does not have any special discount and we ended up paying Euro55+.

Great Hotel on the whole but it just missed the mark a bit. We had two rooms on the 5th floor. One for my wife and I and one for the Children ( 14 & 17 ) After navigating the car parking issues in Antwerp we found out that we could of parked almost outside the front door and then just headed down to the public car park. The reception staff were great and Breakfast did not want for anything. But the biggest let down in a way was after having access to the "Club Room" on the 5th floor then being told that you can not take your drinks outside to the roof top patio area. When there are chairs and tables laid out. The reason we were told was The Hotel manager did not want anyone outside. Unfortunately park of the reason for picking this Hotel was to chill out in the evening and have a drink or two watching the sun go down .... which of course you can't from inside.

Paula was lovely and extremely kind and helpful. Housekeeping excellent. Reception staff we found not terribly welcoming or that friendly which was suprising to us. The bathroom and shower were excellent as were the wardrobe facilities.

See comments above. The shop is very overpriced. I found the bed too hard, and the room needed some updating and was very dark. But it was very quiet which was important to us.

comfy beds , well equipped bathroom, superb dining area with fabulous food, helpful friendly staff. lovely sun deck on the 5th floor, which is great if you're a smoker , so you don't have to traipse all the way out of the hotel to satisfy your addiction. We got a free upgrade which was lovely.

The hotel is big, the walk to the room(if you can find it) is epic. It's great to get your steps in but not good if you have any physical disability. The Belgian chocolate mousse was disappointing, too milky and not chocolatey enough

Front of house were very helpful - however they had to order me a taxi twice for me to catch a train to BRU airport. No taxi ever arrived so I missed train. Thankfully, I just walked in the end and there was an alternative train. However, I just barely made my flight. If I was Hilton, I would not allow that taxi company to act on behalf of Hilton again. (Note - after initial no show, Hilton front of house checked with them and were told they were "five minutes" away - I ended up waiting outside for another 15/20 minutes before deciding I had no option but to walk.)

The Hilton is a fabulously luxurious hotel right in the centre of the old town. Ideal for sightseeing & close to many lovely restaurants. It is convenient for catching various forms of transport. My room was huge & spotlessly clean. My bed was super comfy & I had the best nights sleep during my stay. All of the staff were extremely helpful & friendly

There was nothing I didn't like about the Hilton. I would love to stay there again

Location. friendly helpful staff (eg helped us store a bicycle with no hassle at all). Luxurious surroundings. Parking very close to the hotel. Large comfortable bed and spacious room with carpet. Bath and shower available. Fridge. A/C. Iron. Excellent breakfast with large variety of items. The gym deserves a special mention, as this was spacious, well-equipped with a large range of dumbbells, several cardio machines and a bench. Also there was a water dispenser.

The shower was not great for a small person who didn’t need to wash her hair that day. Small cubicle and high fixed attachment with no hand held component was very awkward for me. No sockets next to the bed apart from the one needed for the light.

We liked the spacious room with the view over the city and the magnificent cathedral. The bathroom was also spacious with both bathtub and shower. We appreciated the tasty and fresh breakfast while watching the square outside and. fashionable people passing by. Everything to like at the breakfast.

We only got the the small bottles for shower and shampoo, maybe better with something more automatic on the wall to economise. maybe from Rituals.

Hotel is clearly very old and the inside needs renovation. Carpet starts to raffle The hotel also seems understaffed, it took very long to check in. That is not what I would expect in a 5 star hotel. To our surprise a deposit was requested of 50 euro per night, this was not mentioned in the confirmation. That is an unhappy surprise. It was also promised to put back in 72 hours after leaving. 6 days later nothing is booked back and you have to call them to get your deposit back
