Hotel Matelote

Good communication beforehand, perfect location 50m from the main area. Lovely greeting by Erik, nothing was too much trouble. Coffee area that can be used 24/7. Beds were great and i had a wonderful.deep bath which was great after walking around in the rain. Breakfast was simple though plentiful. Without asking we could have a late check out as our rooms were not booked out. We used P&R merskem as parking is very expensive in the area. This was perfect and easy We had a great, relaxed weekend.

Nothing to make a fuss about

The hotel is located perfectly in the centre of the city, right in the middle of the pedestrian areas full of bars and restaurants. The hotel owner was extremely helpful and friendly, and the access system to the hotel made it feel exclusive whilst still being practical.

There's no parking and the taxi drivers didn't seem to know how to get to it so I had to walk a little way, and because it's so central and in a busy area it was noisy, as my room fronted onto the street

The breakfast was great, the location in downtown Antwerp was excellent as well. We received an unexpected upgrade to a larger room due to a cancellation, which was a more than pleasant surprise. The host was also very hospitable, accomodating our every needs and being very helpful overall. We would love to come back here again.

The hotel is located in a monument, which prevents the owner from making any fundamental changes, such as adding an elevator. Because of this, we needed to use two spiral staircases. We didn't mind at all, but we can imagine this being an issue for other guests.

Great host, who gifted us a bottle of Cava for our wedding anniversary. Hotel is a great location in the historic centre, we had a super top floor suite. It was too cold and damp to enjoy the enclosed terrace, but it would be a great place to chill out in warmer seasons. Good secure underground parking in the Grote Mkt, €26 for 24 hours was a bit steep maybe.

Spiral staircase wouldn’t suit everyone and made it a bit difficult with luggage, but we coped ok!

The location was excellence easy walking distance to the old part to the market and square with an amazing amount of restaurants. The owner was delightful very informative and could not do enough for us. We had a wonderful room which had a big window opening the fire escape. Loved the fact we could leave this open at night. He had an outdoor area which was lovely even though due to the weather we could not use. I would stay again and recommend it

This was a lovely hotel, right in the centre of the old town and a short walk from everything we wanted to see yet down a quiet side-street so very peaceful and private. The host/owner lives next door and couldn't have been more friendly, interesting and helpful, without being overbearing. Breakfast was huge and generous, the room spacious, clean and comfortable. We loved Antwerp and will book this hotel again when we return.

The location is great - right in the city center near to the main attractions. It's an authentic building which makes your Antwerpen experience extra special! The staff is really nice and helpful. Good breakfast: variety of musli, jogurt, fruit salad, cheese, fresh bread and pastry. And you can boil eggs the way you like them! Would absolutely stay in here again my next visit in Antwerpen.

The breakfast was very good and the location is excellent - right in the centre of the old town.

As our room faced onto the street it was very noisy on Friday and Saturday night with what sounded like non-stop revelery outside! If you book this hotel and that is likely to bother you I strongly recommend asking for a room that doesn’t face the street!

Fantastic location Good flexibility (even though reception closes around 8 it was easy to get in and out of the hotel) We got a complimentary upgrade (which we were delighted about as we just got engaged )
