YOOMA Urban Lodge

The room and bathroom were super spacious. We had a family of four with two older kids. We had a king-size bed and two twin beds. Everyone had access to charging ports. The decor was super cute. The hotel was located within 5-10 minutes walk from Brussels Midi train station. It was wonderful!The staff was super helpful as well.

There was nothing I didn't like

The family room was much bigger and more comfortable than we had expected and the pictures thereof on their site do not do it justice. The decor throughout was excellent and the free arcade games in the basement were a plus. On odd "ballroom" with an oversized low hanging chandelier was an amusement.

The location while perfect for reaching the station for day trips out, wasn't great as we often just did not feel as safe as we would like on a holiday. This was probably not helped by all the construction ongoing in the area. They had board games in the lobby but there was no option to take them to the room to play. They should consider this with a refundable deposit option.

The hotel was extremely kid-friendly. Our son loved all the comics on the walls and insisted on borrowing a different comic book to read every night. Our children greatly enjoyed the playroom. The luggage lockers were easy to use and great value when we had most of the day to spend in the city after checking out. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

While the hotel was close to the train station and metro, some areas around the hotel did not seem very safe. We opted against getting the breakfast because of the high price.

The breakfast was excellent. The tray of freshly cut selection of fruit was a cherry on the top of great selection of different meats, cheese, salad, and pastries. The hotel is close to Gare du Midi. There is no need to take a metro as we had an impression from some of the descriptions.

We were surprised that we had to pay for the luggage storage. Usually, hotels provide this service for free.

I liked the hotel rooms , excellent setting very fun for kids. The arcade was great, the area around the hotel had a large amount of food stores.

The area while great for affordable food options, was a bit rough as it smelled really bad and I would be concerned walking around with my family in the evenings.

Very cool, comfortable, and clean. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The decor, developed in partnership with the Comic Arts Museum in Brussels, was great and unique! An excellent choice for families. Location was ideal for arriving from and leaving via the train station, Gare De Midi/Zuid, and we were able to walk to/from the hotel to the station.

Note, it's a slightly gritty area around Gare De Midi. Also the hotel is a 20 minute walk to main tourist draws of Brussels.

Staff were wonderful, very welcoming. The hotel is modern, very clean, unique and trendy, and family and wheelchair friendly. The restaurant downstairs is very good. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, a good mixture of pastries and fresh fruit with a few selections of bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs. We messed up our leaving dates and ended up checking out a few hours late and the staff were very accommodating.

Room layout wasn’t the best, we stayed in a family room, with a large king bed, and 4x comfortable bunk beds. It is essentially 2 rooms, where you walk through the room with the bunks to get to the king bed in a room with sliding dividers, however you need to walk through the room with the king bed to get to the bathroom. Which doesn’t make it ideal due to disruption at night and lack of privacy (there also isn’t any soundproofing so you can here everything from the bathroom). The breakfast is €17 (€12 if you pay up front) which I think is a little expensive. The location isn’t ideal, to walk into the centre you need to walk 15 mins down a pretty dodgy street - however, there is a tram station 2 mins away which takes you directly into the centre within a few minutes.

Most of the hotel personell were great and helpful, I had to deal with them quite a bit because I was robbed in the vicinity. If you walk outside, esepcially later in the evening, make sure to be at least two or three people. The rooms were clean, fresh and modern. Bathroom was very nice with a cozy shower and bath tub. The location is good too, close to many great dining places, bars, city center and other things to see. All in all, very good and price worthy. Just be aware of pick pocketers and groups of people late at night.

Some areas and streets nearby can be a bit shady. One staff member seemed less interested and helpful than the others, but the rest of them were super kind and helpful. You can also not buy snacks or something to drink later at night so make sure to visit supermarket in the daytime to have something for night time if needed.

Great fun hotel, staff are lovely and always ready to help. Great location easy walk to the train and bus stations. Lots of shops around the corner full of cheap tat you don't need but must buy haha but it was great to look around and waste some time and euros and the people were all friendly. I would stay here again and definitely recommend it.

Parking is 2m height restriction but is also quite narrow. We have a Ford Tourneo disability van that just about made it in. For us shorties the bath is a bit difficult to get in and out as it's quite high and the edge is quite wide.

Breakfast was ok - not spectacular, but versatile enough with all the classics and some Belgian specialities. Hotel restaurant was surprisingly good. Tasty and good value for money. Kids pizza wasn't that great. Gaming room was the kids' favorite and hotel's own rooftop terrace was a nice and peaceful place to relax.

The bathroom in the room didn't have a proper door with a lock and the drain didn't work that smooth. The location was a bit on the side and the area was not that clean and nice, but similar to areas in other large European cities. We had no trouble during our stay walking around, but we always returned to the hotel before sundown.
