Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Clarington - Bowmanville, an IHG Hotel

Right from the beginning, staff were welcoming and helpful. Check in was smooth and quick. The hotel is clean and quiet. The room was well stocked. The in room fireplace and jacuzzi tub were welconed additions. The accessible parking is right out front, steps to the entrance. The rooms are spacious, yet cozy. Breakfast selections were great quality and variety.

The pool facing the parking lot was not a great discovery. Frosted windows for privacy would be welcomed. It would have also been logical to provide a bath mat and soap, shampoo etc for the jacuzzi tub area since it's in the bedroom, not bathroom. Labels for the multitude of power and light switches would have been helpful too

This place was so clean, and the staff were friendly. You get a free hot breakfast which had: pancakes, bagels, cream cheese, scrambled eggs, baked beans, turkey sausage, pork sausage, oatmeal, cereal, apples, bananas, yogurt and muffins. Hot coffee and tea at breakfast and available in the front lobby. We will definitely be back!

The breakfast lady seemed pretty upset and I couldn’t hear her complaining loudly to another staff member about how busy it was and how they better give her a raise. Didn’t seem appropriate to be doing that within ear shot of where we were sitting for breakfast and were were about 10 feet away. (Between 9:00-9:30 on Monday August 7, 2023)

Location was pretty convenient, especially given the fact that I don't drive, so we just took an Uber in. There isn't a huge amount around given the hotel is located in a car park, but we only intended to stay in for those two days anyway so it worked quite well with what was available. Staff were super friendly and helpful, especially with check-in and out. Facilities were quite nice all around, just like our king room. Bed was super comfy!! But our favorite part, without doubt, was the stellar and DELISH breakfast. I may or may not have overdone it both mornings we were there... ;) 10/10 would book here again for the same kind of stay in/staycation style stay!

The breakfast was good but the day we were there. there was no butter available. The location is good but a little tricky to find as there's no direct driveway from the road off of highway 57. You have to navigate several turns with no signage about the hotel to guide you. Booking in and out was efficient and helpful. Nice towels in the bathroom.

A handheld spray head in the bathroom would have been welcome. And the mattress of the room 302 bed closest to the window a little soft. I prefer a fairly flat pillow but none was available as the four on the bed all seemed the same size.

The breakfast is great with lots of variety. I don't like sausages, so offering bacon everyday is wonderful. The location is very convenient.

The one thing I didn't really like is the pool area amenities. You just have 2 benches, one small and one a little larger, to sit on. When I get out of the pool, I like to dry off a bit by sitting down before returning to my room. I don't like 'dripping' in the elevator, etc. It would be nice if you considered putting a few chairs and/or tables in that area to 'dry off' at. Thank you.

We decided to sleep in and miss breakfast. The good news is we slept well. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet.

No creamer was provided for coffee in the room. I asked about this, and was told as we were leaving, that they keep the cream in the breakfast room, even though there is a refrigerator in the rooms. No note indicated this in the room. Also some people prefer non-dairy creamer. The soaps are high on the wall for shower use only. I wanted to take a bath and had to use soap I brought with me because I could not reach behind and above me to get soap. This could be easily resolved by placing the soap and shampoo dispensers on the side wall in reach of both the bathtub and shower.

we liked the size of the suite, comfortable bed. having amenities in the room like a fridge, microwave and keurig coffee machine. The complimentary breakfast was great too

not being able to get extra pillows or blankets. was told that they were sold out as to why no extra pillows. The pillows we had were flat. tried extra towels to make more support. would also liked more access to hot food throughout day not just breakfast.

Loved having use of the pool. Wished the hot tub was working though. However, the showers remained nice and hot and enjoyed them as the showers at home never remain hot for very long. The choices for breakfast were fantastic and fresh and always left full. Most importantly, the staff were amazing with a simple birthday request I made for my husband, which was more than I expected and pleasantly surprised.

The breakfast was very good,,,, but crazy busy when we were there about 9 am. the staff did their best to try to keep up. Might be helpful to do the breakfast till 11 on weekends, especially when they know there are people staying there for tournaments who all need to eat about the same time...

hot tub needs some updating. its mostly steps. good thing we were the only ones in it when we were there.

Things were neat and very clean. The staff reacted to a couple of issues that came up by some other guests and there corrected the problems immediately. The one lady who worked in the kitchen was very attentive to everything. She watched the level of milk in the pitcher. She checked the dirty dishes. she checked the level of cereal in the bins etc etc. - an excellent worker!
