Dragon Gate Inn

Room: 1 Superior Double Room for 2 nights: Exactly what we were looking for; an affordable place to stay that was safe, in a good location, and access to public transport in order to explore the beautiful city in the day and sleep at night. Located in the heart of Chinatown, it was also around the corner from Kensington Market. Tram and subway stops a brief walk away. Beds were more on the firm side but surprisingly comfortable. The booking deposit was refunded without issue. Parking is limited and cost extra per night (~20 CAD), but it was not street parking and I was not concerned about my vehicles safety. I was satisfied with the provided soap/shampoo, and there were more than enough towels to go around for the two of us. They also had a light, pleasant fragrance. Bonus points for being quirky as well, both in the building's shape and the general atmosphere; it did have more of a hostel feel. Were I to do it again, I would book here.

1. Room was not overtly dirty, but it could have been cleaner. There were a small amount of stains in the white linens. 2. The website could have specified better that there are a limited number of parking spaces and that it is first come first serve, luckily they were able to accommodate us.

The staff were very very nice I forgot the adapter for my phone so they lent me one it was also pouring rain when I got there and we had to go down the street to my room in the pouring rain and the gentleman I believe the owner lent me an umbrella very nice of him. The location at Dundas and Bathurst was fantastic for me.

I'm more of a soft mattress person and the bed was very firm but if you like that there you go. There was a small kitchen that wasn't very well equipped. The fridge and microwave worked well. The room was small but I still found it excellent value for the money.

bed was a good, firm mattress. view from the window was lousy, just the other side of the building and parked cars on the street for a view. The TV was bolted too high on the wall. It was hard for me to look at after my eye operation. The room was okay and clean. location was great cause i could walk to the hospital. i did use the kettle for tea and the microwave for warming up some chicken wraps i bought at a nearby restaurant.

TV too high on the wall. Some lunatic was yelling and swearing outside on my last night there. Scared another couple that was staying at the hotel as well cause we didnt dare go out for a smoke till much later.

The location. Owner was friendly and staff. Nice sized studio apartments.

Staff need to attend to one person only and not get side tracked in to dealing with another person, as the current person wants to check in asap first. U can tell the other person to wait. All rooms should have 2 keys. 1 key for each room is unacceptable and not convenient. Also that 1st picture showing the metal stairs and hotel.. shouldnt be put up as it makes the hotel look ghetto and not nice. So take it down. Not a good pucture to market the hotel.

The place was a little dirty when we arrived Mirrors were dirty Floors were dirty Light bulbs were out and made it difficult for some of the staff to get ready and work on details. For the price of the Stay, parking was an additional $20 per vehicle, and there were only 5 spots, first come first serve

Stayed with my son one night to visit universities. Didn’t want to pay $400 to be dt. Location, beds were good, was clean, owner is nice, was quiet, wasn’t a scam as I feared or disgusting. Was quite happy with it for the price. Still a lot for what it is but this is dt TO I guess. Didn’t encounter any of the horror stories or ‘1.0’ (star) ratings I’d read in some reviews. Glad I gambled!

The front non entrance is a bit weird but no biggie. There were two mattresses leaned against the hallway entrance to our room..

The price was was excellent. The room was plain but clean and comfortable. The facility is on transit and located close to downtown attractions. Wi-Fi service was also included.

The entrance was not well marked and the address of the building differs from the address on the website which made it a challenge. Google maps also gives roundabout directions to reach the facility from Union station.

This is an amazing place, I would totally recommend this place to stay in a short or long visit to toronto, is so near to the CN tower, even walking is not a huge distance, great people and great place. More than expected.

I would say maybe that this place was not the cleanest but for the price totally worth it. clean bed, clean bathroom just in general the walls and floor were a little bit dirty/old.

The hotel manager was really nice and the rooms were great and comfy! The apartment came with 4 beds and 2 washrooms, and also contained all the appliances we needed. It was excellent stay! Especially for its price.

Although this was more of our fault than the hotel's; there is a door at the very back of the apartment that leads to a flight of stairs. DON'T GO IN THERE. If the door closes while you are outside it locks you out there and you can't come back in, even with a key! We had to call the hotel to rescue us in the end. Besides that little mishap caused by our curiosity, one of the washrooms is also lacking a shower curtain, so if you take a shower there the whole place is going to get wet.

Amazing value for money. We got an entire 1 bedroom apartment for a reasonable rate. The location was superb. Had one of the best meals of our lives up the road at Contrada. Staff was also very accommodating

It was not as clean as a 4 star hotel. However, there were no smells, and it was not dirty. The corners and edges would have bennifited from some elbow grease.
