Ambrose House & Cafe - SELF CHECK-IN GUESTHOUSE

The location was perfect for us and we were glad we paid for on site parking, we drove to other parts of the city a few times. The check in is simple, the location is easy to find, and the staff were helpful. Our room was perfect for us and the kids with bunk beds, which they loved, as well as high ceiling, heat pump control in room for temperature comfort, and simple nice furnishings. Our bed was comfortable. Very little city’s noise, we slept well. The cafe has pastries and coffee and there are cafes and restaurant options nearby. Would highly recommend.

We do have young kids and we’re a little worried on safety with bunk beds but the did fine, if we needed to switch to a room that did not have bunk beds they may have been able to accommodate but not sure. Towels and sheets were basic and I don’t think we were provided wash cloth or smaller hand towel for bathroom. So accommodations are simple but we had everything we needed.

Excellent location near McGill and many attractions , bar and restaurants . Staff of hotel and coffe shop very friendly and helpful (particularly Tais ) . Food and coffe also very good . They have a room to store luggage . Wi-fi and air conditioner worked fine .

As it is an old building room needs some renovation. Curtains don`t close properly , so I needed to use my hairclips to close them. Matress also is a bit worn out . They could add another dustbin in the room . As shower was over bath ,it is necessary to provide a plastic carpet because it got very slippery and dangerous.

I was looking for a hotel stay that made me feel like I was in another country, not the traditional hotel chains. This certainly was the perfect type of hotel I was looking for. Very clean. My room was very nice with a lot of personality. The hotel itself was a bit quirky, which I really liked.  great location.

The walls were a little thin so I could hear everything my next-door neighbor was doing specially because he was up at four in the morning. I realized it was an older building, and it was just that he was not being considerate for the most part. The fan in the room would’ve been nice white noise. I also enjoy it when a hotel has maps and handouts for things to see and guide me around the town. This hotel did not have that.

This is a very basic place to stay. No fancy amenities, such as a TV in your room. The room was very small. But, it was very clean, safe and cute. It felt a lot like a European hostel, which I didn't mind at all. It was much less expensive than the other hotels in Montreal and on a pleasant quiet street. When we arrived, we got the hint that this had a religious affiliation. This was not evident from the website, but there was nothing in your face about it. No one tried to convert me or give me a hard sell to come to church. It was stress free, affordable very clean.

I have no complaints at all - if you like luxury, then this would not a good place for you.

It’s only few steps away from my work and McGill University, the location is perfect! it’s super clean, I stayed there several times now and always had a very positive experience. I never had any problems with self check-in, everything was ready on time :) I also lost a small bracelet at one of my stays and was directly contacted by the staff - knowing that I would be back a couple of days later, the bracelet was waiting for me in the room! So nice :))

I never had a problem cause I usually stay 1 or 2 days with a small luggage, but there is no lift and the hotel rooms are usually on the 3rd floor.

Excellent location, room spacious and clean, very friendly staff who allowed us to leave our bags after checking out before we left for our evening flight

Checking in on Sunday afternoon a bit complicated as the desk isn't manned permanently Sundays and Mondays (the cafe is closed too). I didn't get a reply to my request to drop off bags early afternoon. Emails with door code instructions had gone to spam, even though other emails came through. Would have been nice to have a kettle in the room. The carpet in the common spaces could do with replacing, or at least a deep clean.

The room was clean, comfortable, and private. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the check-in and out process was easy. The location couldn't be better, right downtown, but it still felt private and restful inside the hotel. I travelled as a single woman and felt really safe here.

The walls are very thin! Unfortunately my neighbour's woke up at 5:30 and were chatting until 9:00, which kept me awake and I'm a heavy sleeper! The room was also very small but it suited my needs perfectly as I was looking for somewhere central to rest my head for a night.

The breakfast was lovely, and the cafe very pleasant and convenient. Very friendly staff. The bed was very comfortable ! We chose Ambrose for the location and it was perfect for our group. We would definitely stay there again.

With our group of 5 in the family suite, some wished we'd had another bathroom, but it wasn't too bad. Also we thought there should be more hooks for hanging wet towels in the family suite.

Clean room , friendly staff , size bedroom was good , but it is more for when you will stay more time outside. I wish they had a smart time or chrome cast só I could had play my Netflix or you tube . It is recomend to use their parking while going downtown since downtown parking very expensive . Great A/C . When I go to a event again in Montreal I will definitely consider staying here again . Also Very convenient to have the coffee shop in the lobby .

Missed happing chromecast or smart tv ,

The location was fantastic, just a hop into downtown and yet such a quiet area. The room was spacious and quiet, in a calm and welcoming house. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

The place was a bit outdated and a small bit run down. We had all we needed and were quite comfortable but the finishing functional and deco touches were in need of further care. We have been told the place will be going into renovations which are much needed. Would definitely go back!
