Costa Rica Guesthouse

Location is convenient, our transportation could find easily. Huge fan was nice in the hot weather. Lots of nearby places to eat. Staff; front of house and cleaning were friendly and helpful.

the only reason for the : I face on cleanliness was the one chair was very badly stained. I could not even look at it. Also, it would have been convenient to have something to put our bags on, else guest will tend to use the bed, not a good thing as bags can get very dirty. Please help us help you.

The place is pretty well located if you want to be in the area with bars and restaurants. At night, it is relatively safe to walk around as it is an area full of bars so there tends to be police around. The double room was very spacious and had a nice balcony. The bathroom was shared but I never had to wait to use it. There is a big lobby where there is always free coffee, which is nice. For the price we paid, it was definitely great value since we had a private room.

The windows towards the balcony were not proper windows but rather some kind of shades, so it was very easy to hear the noise from the street.

Big room with a balcony with a nice view to the street and mountains. The rooms and bathrooms were probably newly reconstructed or the whole building was newly added to the Guesthouse. As it is a building opposite of the reception, with separated entrance. Rooms and bathrooms were really clean. Not many people in that building. Great, that they have female dorms and security guy in front of the building. Nice lobby and free cofee at the reception.

There is still some small maintenance work to be done. The doors to the dorm were squeaking and the doors to the bathroom were hard to close, but not a big deal. For light sleepers could be a big minus the train which is passing by very close, that the whole building is shaking and you can hear the horn every 15 minutes. First train will pass by at 4.33am. So if u have a morning flight or bus, you will not need to set an alarm. :)

Everything was as promoted/depicted. The neighborhood is very close to the downtown and easily accessible to all the restaurants. Facilities were large and clean and comfortable. The price was great.

Only downside: It was recommended that I NOT walk in the neighborhood alone at night as a female, so I took ubers to/from dinner. Not sure if this is just San Jose. Only had one front desk person for all the checkin/checckouts and breakfast orders. So a little understanding and patience if you are trying to checkin/checkout at a busy time.

Guesthouse has very nice facilities, clean, the room was huge and very comfortable, I appreciate there where different types of furniture like 2 nightstands, closet, and a little desk where I could work. The private bathroom was very big as well. Very comfortable.

The staff wasn't that helpful, any time we had a question, they never knew the answer, and said that only the manager's know, but made no effort to contact the manager. There was no fan (I was dying in that heat)

I stayed there several times on my trip and in San Jose I was very loyal to this accomodiation. Silent and save area, friendly staff, fresh coffee all the time, perfect Wifi, private parking for my rental car are some of the benefits of this place. The area around offers some really nice restaurants especially in the area "Escalante". Easy to walk to the City if you are not to lazy ;) Otherwise Uber is all around. The prices were volatil, but not expensive, so it was a good deal. I would go there again.

Sometimes really loud depending on the guests.

This is an EXCELLENT hotel for budget travelers! It's in a pretty good location. Very quiet area. There's a restaurant with a delicious and affordable breakfast on the same street and a convenience store a few blocks away. The staff is wonderful! So kind, helpful, and friendly. Carlos and Luis Miguel are both very helpful. You can pay by credit card. They also have an airport pickup service for a fee. The hotel offers free coffee and tea 24/7. They also have lots of travel information like a list of bus stations and departure times for buses going to other parts of the country. The rooms are big and comfy. I like that there are lots of places to store your luggage and even hang your clothes. Plus! There's a bedside light which is nice if you want to read before going to bed or just need to get up to use the toilet in the middle of the night. You can turn on the light and not have to search for your cell phone or flashlights. The bathrooms are shared and they are very clean.

I wish there were more hooks in the bathroom to hang your clothes and towel. There's one for your towel but then you have to put your clothes on the toilet seat which I just hate doing. So more hooks would be helpful.

Lovely guest house which is great value for money. We stayed in a hostel for 10 euro more the first night which is across the road however the is place was cheaper and much nicer. The rooms are large and clean and there is a nice common area. There is free coffee and tea during the day which is a nice touch.

I couldn’t get the hot water to work. My boyfriend said there was a sign to explain how to do so in one of the bathrooms but I did not see this. I also had to wait to use the shower as there is only two bathrooms with showers on the side we were on.

I had a private room at it was VERY big! I was pleasantly surprised. The bed was great, room great! Super private, almost too private (as a solo female I feel safer when I can hear others around and I really didn't). But it was fabulous for the two days in San Jose. I walked to cafes and restaurants and downtown 15-30 minute walks.

One night someone tried to get into my room. I don't know if they had the wrong room of if a staff member forgot I was there and was trying to clean/ put someone in my room. Unsure but I didn't like it!
