sportmens has nice atmosphere the bar the food tastes good. facilities are secure and its theme is nice. plenty of screens to see plenty of visitors in bar areas. front desk staff-- all extremely helpful george, gwendolyn , and another gal i forgot her name she has glasses little taller , door guys --marcos, daniel, and the taller guy all helpful with information as well .bar area personnel -- dayanna carla julry malfredo all pleasant and efficient. i Recommend this place i will stay again when i come back. proximity to other places to go ins bank near , park downtown very easy to navigate . The area felt safe for me to walk after dark hours

didnt like that i didnt plan as well for when i went to jaco so was unable to cancel room for 2 nights while i stayed in jaco then returned. but that on me not the sportsmens

Food is amazing. Staff is excelente and friendly. You can watch sports all day. I highly recommend for bachelor parties only! The food here is amazing. It's also close to el centro and all the shopping and restaurant areas.

Really nothing. Been here 7 times. If you want to have a good time as a solo or group of males traveling to Costa Rica and you know what to except then this is the place to be!

The staff were fantastic, couldn't be more helpful. The experience is not one for everyone but if you just want to have a drink at the bar no one bothers you other than to smile.

Nothing, once I got comfortable with the venue all was fine. I'm not interested in company and that was fine. Although if you are I'm sure you will find a friend here. Beware if travelling to airport of the rush hour traffic though. Leave entry of extra time.

Outstanding staff

Music sounds like construction site demolition, hard to rest or sleep with the sound(not really music) of the noise.

excellent location…specious room…sports bad…everything …penthouse is the room to get in the lodge…everything is perfect…i am not sure about any other room as this is the one & only biggest room in house…special thanks to Carla & Adriana….bar tenders…always smiling and ready to help…also, security guy, bell room , reception everyone super friendly and helpful….not lots of girls at night but its getting there…just a suggestion to include more english music at night would be nice…but i enjoyed partying with all girls & bar staff…great food & drinks…no chicafee…go for it guys….perfect for adults…

This place is amazing. And yes breakfast was fine, but very Costa Rican - eggs, toast, black beans, rice and very fresh fruit. Not my favorite foods, but yes I am in Costa Rica and that's what they eat. Being a Lo-carb guy, I asked them to just serve me eggs and coffee. I am quite satisfied. But the staff, the waitresses - Everyone! - was exceptionally nice. I even extended my 5-day stay here by a day. I didn't want to leave. Why would I? This is my third trip here...and I will return here...again and again.

Showers, bathroom facilities and rooms were excellent. The food was amazing! I ate at a few expensive restaurants locally and the food at The Lodge was just as good - or better - at half the price. I don't know how they do it!

You might find a plusher hotel with fancier rooms but you will never find one that's more fun. The bar staff, especially, is so fun, smart, sweet, and wonderful that there is no way not to have a good time. I may not have all the names right, but they all deserve a mention: Hazel, Jinyi, Crystal, Carla, Greten, Julianna, Samarrra, Dayanna, and I only hope I didn't miss anyone.

That it has to close at Midnight.

Sportsmans is a nice place to relax and talk to with other customers or enjoy a drink or dinner with one of the beautiful visitors if you want. The customer service is excellent.

There was a little animal in the tree across the street from my room that made noises at night. I'll pick another room next time. I'm not much of an animal person.

I especially liked the staff! The controlled and safe environment. The Chicas were great. And the free breakfast is genius.

I did have to change rooms but, heh, I booked late on a lark so happy my dates were accommodated. The roomers were basically mostly old men. You need to do renovations to protect them. Like no step in the bath tub to get in the shower. I was OK but 2 shared they fell.

As always, the staff makes the stay special. From the excellent housekeeping staff to the always helpful and charming front desk to the truly spectacular bartenders who are so charming and friendly they make it sad to leave.

That I was only there for two days.
