Escale Oceania Marseille Vieux Port

The hotel's location was perfect for us as the places we wanted to visit were within a good distance. The hotel staff were very friendly/attentive and we had no issues with them. Breakfast was adequate for us and the room we had was good enough for the time we were there.

The only problem we did have was the bracket that holds the shower head was broken but we managed to sort it so we could still use the shower. We did advise the desk of the problem. Marseille isn't particularly cheap to eat out and beware of the prices of beer/lager, we got stung with a 10 euro pint of lager one night (as we didn't check the price first and I had two pints). But that is obviously nothing to do with the hotel.

Excellent location right by the Old Port, the metro, buses and ferry. My room had the view of the port, which was lovely. If you open the balcony it gets loud because of the street noise, which didn't bother me at all, I liked the action. Once the balcony was closed I didn't hear any noise. The AC worked well all except one night, but when it worked, it worked well. The room was comfortable while not very large. All the staff were super nice, so they get 5 stars. Overall, I'm quite pleased with my stay and would stay there again.

Housekeeping wasn't consistent. One time they didn't refill the cups. Also having paper cups instead of proper glasses and cups was meh. Not having a mini fridge was a bummer too.

Room was modern, clean, bed was comfy, staff were welcoming and friendly and the location was near all the good bars and restaurants.

Only 1 tiny pillow person but staff did get a 2nd when we asked. The shower bracket was broken so it kept slipping down and turning towards the wall. The homeless man right at the front door was not the welcome we were expecting but he was harmless.

The location is second to none, as it is right on the old port. The metro is across the road and so easy. Great views from the room. Marseille is a great city with some beautiful spaces. We were there at the time of the Summer solstice music festival and the Old Port was alive and exciting.

The safe could be bigger as it isn't big enough to fit even a small laptop. There were a couple of minor maintenance issues but nothing that really concerned us. Unfortunately Marseille was having a garbage strike which was unpleasant, but that was certainly not the hotels fault.

We booked this hotel for two nights but stayed one extra night because we liked Marseille so much. The hotel is in a perfect location to explore all parts of the city. The room was nice and comfortable with a great view. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again.

We liked everything but would have been nice (and fresh) with a small sink where the toilet was. Shower and sink was in a different room. Also a small fridge in the room would have been great.

Rooms are an ok size but very clean and bed is very comfortable. Location is brilliant. Staff nice.

Given the location is right in the Port itself some may not like buzz of the nightlight and sounds of street music. We actually really enjoyed it as we stood out on the balcony and soaked up the atmosphere. Once door to balcony was closed the sound is mostly gone.

The view of the street and the port through our French windows, the large room. the location is right at a metro and bus stop, and boar trips to the Calenques are across the street. I imagine that this would be a much more pleasant place to stay in the Spring or Fall, when there might be less activity on the street.

It was hot when we stayed there. The location is very noisy at night during the summers when buskers gather crowds to drum, play horns, etc at the pedestrian port area. This meant we had to keep our windows closed,at night, but that didn’t block out all the noise. When we first arrived before turning on the ac, there was an unpleasant odor that we couldn’t place in the room. after about a day it seemed to dissipate, but whenever we re-entered the room from outside, we could smell it again. There are lots of scooters and bikes coming from all directions on the pedestrian streets, so it felt precarious to walk in this area.

Location , view, bathroom, comfortable bed, the receptionist was nice, helpful and funny

The elevator was not functioning for some period of a day. The receptionist did not bother explaining us about the breakfast at the check in, nor she found time to explain that the elevator was not working when we returned to the hotel as we were standing there pressing the button several times.

Perfect location to explore Marseille. We had room 512 which has the side view of the port with small balcony. The view is Amazing! The room was a nice size and the hotel is clean.

The toilet seat is broken and must be replaced. The bed was a bit too firm and pillows were not that comfortable in my opinion. Homeless people camping out on sidewalks directly in front of hotel.

The location was great for getting to everything - the room was a good size and had air con which we definitely needed! Bed was comfy and the room mostly blocked out the noise from the outside area when the balcony door was closed which meant you could sleep! Special shout out to Sally who works there, we had an issue with paying with both cards we had, and she helped to find a solution that worked.
