Capital O Parador Crespo Hotel, Oaxaca

This is a cozy boutique hotel. The room was somewhat dated, but it was clean and well-kept. WiFi was above average and the rooftop patio was a bonus. Kudos to the staff for their friendliness, helpfulness and patience.

The hotel is located on top of a hill, so be aware that it's a somewhat difficult walk to/from downtown. If you have mobility issues, this may not be the best choice for you. Also, it would be nice if the rooftop were open earlier as a place to enjoy the view from there.

The room we had was quite big, amazing for two people although 4 can perfectly sleep there. It had a small balcony and a sofa. The hotel has a terrace with a bar and spectacular views and a small restaurant downstairs where you can take a coffee and breakfast or you can ask them to lend you a plate and a knife if you need to make yourself a sandwich very early in the morning. The restaurant opens around 8. The hotel also has a hairdryer, you need to ask for it at the reception. There also various tours that you can book from the hotel. The staff is very friendly.

Everything was good. The hotel is on a hill which can make it difficult for people who are not keen on walking but you'll have great views from the terrace upstairs.

Location is great. Near the hill where you can easily get into the woods and great views of the city from the planetarium. (Do not go up there alone after 9am, a local woman advised). There is a beautiful market walk distance: you can buy goodies and also sit and drink juices and eat homemade local food for local prices. The building has a cozy rooftop where you can have a drink while enjoying the amazing views.

The bedrooms on the side of the road are really noisy. I couldn’t sleep coz there are trucks and other vehicles from very early in the morning. But they understood and have me an interior bedroom free of charge for the night I couldn’t sleep. There was the noise from the watter tank for a few hours during the day, but it wasnt a big deal. Also, the pic of the room published on the app it is not what you find, at lest not the ones I stayed in.

The rooms are okay with everything you need. Bedroom, bathroom and everything clean. Decoration is quite simple so rooms look quite simple. Fan and AC are provided which is good form warm days. Some renovation or decoration would lift the hotel quite a bit. They have a bar on the rooftop which is quite good, staff and cocktails are amazing. Also the view is great. Walking distance from downtown. Street is a bit noisy on the front but it wasn't a problem once inside the rooms.

Wifi was working but super slow. I had to go to other coffee shops nearby to do some work.

The staff was extremely attentive, and helpful (we asked the receptionist about visiting a remote area and she went out of her way to find all the info-she even went on internet and called us later to debrief us). Daily cleaning, Tv in the room, big toilets/shower. 12 min walk to Zocalo/centre area. Lovely rooftop with cheap prices & also economic breakfast below in the lobby/restaurant.

The mattress was hard (as other guests have mentioned), the toilet didn't flush very well, the bed isn't too big for 2 (probably 1.20 metres width). Everything else was fab.

Free off-street parking and everything is an easy walk away. Although breakfast isn't included in the room charge, the on-site restaurant prepares nice breakfasts at a good price. We had the family room which is like a mini-apartment with a bathroom and two separate bedrooms, one with two full-size beds and one with one full-size bed.

Wifi reception wasn't great. My kids sometimes sat in the common area to get a better signal. The decor is just okay: it feels like a decent 2-star hotel. The parking area can get very crowded.

The room I had was decent size with comfy beds. I enjoyed the short walk to the centre. The staff were very helpful and I managed to get my airport taxi sorted for 5am. Bottles of water refilled everyday in the room or you can buy it in the lobby. Good value for money.

Friendly Staff Great views from rooftop bar over Oaxaca Manager sent my clothes that I left at the hotel to Puerto Escondido for me which was really kind.

Road was quite noisy next to hotel, gets a lot quieter at 10.30pm so you can sleep but during day it’s loud.

The staff are amazingly kind and helpful. It is a great value.

No AC in my room. However, as soon as I opened a window and turned on the ceiling fan, the room became comfortable in spite of the muggy heat outside.

Nice place for a quick stay. It is basic but clean. The room was good size. The coffee in the restaurant is great. The rooftop deck is excellent.

The bed was a bit hard and the rooftop restaurant didn’t serve anything. So no happy hour for us.
