I really enjoyed my stay at Casa de la Tía Tere. As a solo female traveler, it felt very safe and was just a short walk away from the city centre. The staff were accommodating, room clean, and breakfast very pleasant with fresh fruit and yoghurt on offer every day, plus two hot options to choose from to be cooked fresh to your order each morning. The pool area is absolutely beautiful and a great place to relax away from the buzz of Oaxaca... should you ever want to.

My advice to future guests would be to bear in mind that the building is very echoey, but bring some ear plugs and you'll be fine.

The location of this particular hotel was in a great place to where you could walk to nearly everything. The complimentary breakfast was terrific, the lounges by the pool were so relaxing and the all staff were exceptional.

What I didn't like was there was only a luggage elevator. I was on the 2nd floor and I have terrible knees, so it was hard of me. Also the day I arrived I needed to lesson my stay from 9 to 7 days but I was told that with booking.com you have to do that 7 days ahead supposedly and they were unable to accommodate me in this matter. For that I will not be using booking.com in the future.

The pool and grounds are beautiful. We had a bungalow, which was comfortable and spacious and had great AC. There was also a nice spacious fridge, and they bring you bottled water every day, which is nice. This place is a great value for the price.

The room itself and common spaces were very clean, but the sofa in our room had so many "questionable" stains on it I had to put a towel down to sit on it. That was kind of gross but was balanced out by how nice everything else was. My only other complaint is that the shower curtains are very flimsy so the bathroom floor gets flooded when you shower. We solved this by laying pool towels down, but that could be improved.

What a lovely little oasis in the city! The property was clean and quiet, almost a little two quiet as a solo traveller, but still nice at night. Free breakfast was so nice to have, I’m not really a big breakfast eater but being able to walk down for coffee and fruit in the am was really convenient, plus there was so much more if you wanted. I do have a gluten allergy + being vegetarian the options were slightly restricted as I kind of expected, if you were one or the other I’m sure you could manage better. The room was a decent size, and the beds were comfy (not too hard as I find they sometimes can be in Mexico!)

My room was slightly dark, but this seems to be a harder thing to find in the city when looking, the windows faced a shared courtyard so I mostly wanted those closed, and otherwise I would have to open up a shudder door for some natural light. Luckily bugs weren’t really an issue so I could do that, but personal preference would have been a bit brighter. location is definitely walking to most everything you need in the city, however it does drop off and get a bit quieter at night with kind of a bunch of people to very few to no people real fast. I felt quite safe in the city but again walking back from the core after dark as a solo person I chose to take a cab a couple of times.

A little off the beaten track so it was quiet. I was there for four nights. Nice pool. Basic breakfast included. They just started including a room fridge, but a small coffee maker would be great and would make this place much better. A bonus - Tacos Lechón is on the corner! The best street food here!

Very echoey because it’s an atrium. You can hear peoples’ voices coming and going and very noisy when people come in late at night, so as other people have suggested bringing earplugs. Coffee is not great and all they provide is chemical coffee whitener. Coffee should be better considering it’s in Oaxaca!

Location was great! walking to main area/market/attractions easy. Short cab ride to ruins from main square. Excellent walled in lot for parking rental car. Nestled away from city noise with lovely courtyard/pool to relax after sightseeing. Excellent staff available at front desk (or by intercom /phone call when arriving to let us in) lovely breakfast terrace with daily hot breakfast. comfortable spacious enough room. Quaint and characteristic building. Very Clean bathroom. I’m comparison to some other other places I have stayed in Mexico, reasonably comfortable beds/pillows. Easy to meet and chat with others in the pool area but also quiet and restful environment.

As I had read on the reviews before our stay, we had a ground floor room which meant we could hear chairs moving /people walking in the room above. We closed the bathroom door at night which reduced some sounds. This was not enough to deter me from enjoying our 4 night stay. One can expect that an older character building would be that way and it was not a long, consistent disruptive experience. Don’t stay here if you want the perfection of modern, “you could be in any North American city hotel” experience.

Tasty, fresh breakfast on a gorgeous patio; beautiful indoor courtyard; exceptional staff. Terrific location in the heart of the city within walking distance of everything Centro district has to offer. Cozy, nicely appointed room met all of our needs. The pool and garden area is simply gorgeous.

While our shower had more than adequate hot water, we had no hot water in our bathroom sink, which was really only inconvenient for shaving. WiFi service was spotty during our stay, though it was more of a convenience than a necessity for us. Rooftop bar area was not open during our stay, but did not detract from the overall experience.

The pool area was lovely, and the rooms were nice and clean too. Very good value for money.

To be honest, the staff weren’t amazing. They were friendly enough but didn’t go above and beyond. We asked to check in early and they just said no and didn’t even try to accommodate. We also needed to have an early breakfast as we were doing a tour (booked through the hotel) which meant we only had 15 minutes to eat breakfast. The breakfast staff were rude and were late opening up breakfast. I wasn’t able to order until 5 mins before we were being picked up. No apology or anything, we’re just told to wait.

The hotel feels very historic and has a traditional Spanish design with an interior courtyard. I was amazed how cool and fresh the interior of the hotel felt even as the hot sun soared above. The interior is traditionally decorated and is full of green plant life. The breakfast is excellent, cooked to order, and served on a lovely outdoor terrace. The pool was immaculately clean and surrounded by a fresh green lawn and tastefully appointed with tables and lounge chairs. The staff were dutiful and quiet maintaining the hotel at an impecable level of cleanliness.

The rooms are small and the beds were quite firm. It wasn't the most comfortable room, but I slept well. The hotel didn't have any refrigeration for guests. I would have enjoyed access to an ice machine and/or a small refrigerator in my room, but honestly, I can appreciate the low energy footprint of the facilities. It wasn't a big sacrifice to walk one block to the small convenience store when I wanted a cold drink.

There is such a deceptive facade to this hotel. It looks small ,but it is an old Spanish colonial house with inner and outdoor courtyards. The room was compact and without daylight, but it had everything we needed, including a fridge. It was spotless. The pool area is beautifully maintained with stunning trees, plants, flowers, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Breakfast varied daily and was always good. It's located just a short walk from the centre. Highly recommended. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful
