The Reef 28 - Adults Only - All Suites - Optional Gourmet All Inclusive

Nice and clean junior suite and great location in Playa del Carmen. Good breakfast with lots of different options and very helpful staff.

Fair warning - the all-inclusive option means a lot of guests are there to party: there are drunk people in the hotel, and the rooftop bar (which is very nice) plays loud music until 11pm. When we were there one day someone had vomited in the pool, jacuzzi and male bathroom, yet many people were still in the pool..

Would really recommend this place. The rooms were stunning and massive, although no views, which is a shame. The rooftop area is the real selling point, it’s nice and big, pool areas are lovely, service is great, and stays open til pretty late if you like a jacuzzi dip like us after dinner. We didn’t try the restaurants, but the breakfast was good and we did do all inclusive one day which was great value at $50 pp.

Only two downsides. The big one is that if you pay for all inclusive expecting to be able to use the other resorts, expect to be disappointed. There’s absolutely no space to accommodate other people. We travelled to the other resorts around 10/10.30 and there was not a single place to sit around pools or beaches. I reckon you’d have to be up at the crack of dawn to get your towels down. There are plenty of great restaurants in town and nicer beaches, so I’d say save your money on all inclusive and only buy a day pass if you’re having a day at the pool at Reef 28. The other tiny thing to mention is that if you’re not a fan of loud house music, you will hate it here. it’s 24/7 and very very loud (and I’m no granny) and there’s only a handful of sunbeds where you can mildly escape it.

Being offered a mimosa as I checked in was such a great touch and nice surprise. And the breakfast was AMAZING!

I was charged 55 pesos for FREE water!!? the bill said botella de agua, however i never received a bottle of water and was drinking the FREE water wait staff walks around with. When I asked the waiter he said, we charge for water and there was nothing he could do about it. This left a sour taste in my mouth. The gentleman who helped me with my luggage was amazing and nice. Wish I remembered his name but he has musical note tattoos all over his arms and was so helpful with all of my needs.

Hotel has a big focus on letting outside guests in to the pool and as we were told they’re “running a business”. There is no priority given to the hotel guests for pool chairs. During our stay a violent fight broke out that was caused by very drunk people who paid for day access. The police were called & we all had to leave the pool.

the room was amazing the location was great and the spa was nice. the rooftop is beautiful and the resort is great and the workers are helpful and nice.

I didn’t like the food. it could’ve been better. it was very Americanized and there was no authentic food. the guac wasn’t good there was no quesadillas and no good Mexican food. the shrimp tacos was good but that’s about it. the Asian restaurant was the best food offered. I would rate the food a 6 out of 10 overall. there are plenty of restaurants around in the area. also the bar waters down the alcohol so it is not very strong I recommend getting a shot and adding it to your drink.

The rooftop bar was good, fast service (Freddy was great) and some nice cocktails and burgers. Room was very comfortable and spacious, and was cleaned to a very good standard daily. Some of the staff were amazing, and genuinely seemed to love their job (especially the restaurant hosts, concierge and rooftop bar staff) - others not so good which I have mentioned in the other section. Location wise it's very central and a 2 minute walk to the beach.

The Mexican and Asian menu food wasn't great, some of it pretty tasteless and chewy meat etc. Some of the staff were amazing (as mentioned above), but others could come across a bit moody. There was often 4/5 members of staff standing around the reception area chatting/giggling with each other and not actually serving anyone. Also the lobby bartenders seemed to just disappear every 10 minutes, and it was left unmanned (when asked for help, reception staff didn't seem too bothered).

Big clean rooms, beautiful hotel that is located close to the main 5th avenue. The valet parking was comfortable, the people at the reception were friendly and helped with what we needed. Good value for money overall.

We were on the top floor and had lots of noise from the rooftop bar (until around 23:00), we got dinner in the restaurant and the seating and service were really bad - no-one noticed us for a long time (they only had 2 people working there), long wait and quite expensive. The rooftop bar/pool was packed with people (no free tanning beds)

Our stay at The Reef 28 was a fantastic experience. The hotel was stunning, radiating a modern elegance that seamlessly blended with the natural beauty of Playa Del Carmen. Positioned in the heart of town, close to the beach, shopping outlets, and great dining experiences. The convenience of its location allowed us to effortlessly explore the vibrant town and the Quinta Avenida. The Reef 28 is a haven of beauty, luxury, and accessibility, offering an unparalleled stay in Playa Del Carmen. We will be back!

Loveeeee this resort. I recently came back from a solo birthday getaway, I am so happy I stayed there. I actually had another hotel booked and canceled to stay here due to how professional and organized they were. The rooms were clean, modern and have a lot of space. The food and drinks are amazing there and there sister properties. The pool views beautiful and private beach at there sister property was a whole vibe plenty of activities to do on the beach. The staff was amazing not hard to communicate with and helpful with booking activities. The spa is hands down my favorite if you go book it it will be worth your time. Overall 10/10 will go back for sure.

The food, drinks and the super helpful staff. When they say "all inclusive" they bloody mean it. We spent one of the days on the rooftop for hours. Cocktails galore, shot after shot (try the "beer shot" you'll thank me later), and the adults only part was probably my favourite. Really got to enjoy the experience with my boyfriend. Food quality and variety was awesome, very close to shops and 5th Avenue.

Upon arrival, the concierge told us there was a presentation which included gifts like excursion coupons and such. We sat through a 90 minute presentation about a time share of the sister properties which I did not like one bit. The host was visibly angry/upset when I told them no we didnt want any part of a timeshare. Could have been a lot clearer about what this "presentation" was about. Be mindful that this is what it is. The room next door was quite noisy but it was our last day so it wasn't too bad.
