Boutique hotel Sint Jacob

A beautiful place to stay - friendly, welcoming staff, a spacious room and an excellent breakfast. We stayed for 4 nights in April/May and were sorry to leave! We arrived around 10pm - later than expected due to delays on the train from Brussels - and checked in at the nearby Hotel Grote Gracht as the Sint Jacob is only open for check-in to 4pm. Everything went very smoothly and it was just a short walk between the 2 hotels. This was our first experience of having a digital room key emailed to us and used on the mobile phone. It worked perfectly. Others in our party requested a physical key card which can also be provided. The room was very comfortable and nicely furnished, including a fridge and coffee maker. The bathroom was also spacious, with a good shower and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was excellent with the offer of bacon and eggs cooked individually for you. A wonderful range of fresh bread, sweet pastries, different cereals and muesli, fresh fruit, cheese and meat. We would definitely recommend this as a good place to stay in the historic centre of Maastricht.

Nice, clean room

Not really „not like“ but a slight deduction for the smartphone based room key which in my case wasn’t a problem, since I have EU unlimited Data and an affinity to all this tech-y stuff,but if my wife would have come alone it would have been extremely frustrating for her to handle all this download/upload process for the room key. Also that the entrance door needed quite a forceful push to open would have been intimidating for her. So this Hotel is not recommended for old school guests.Found the breakfast also slightly underwhelming considering the whopping 22€ per head. But as I said, 4 out of 5

The location was great and near the famous Vrijthof square, eateries and shopping district. Several of the well-known landmarks of Maastricht is also within walking distance. I particularly liked the bedroom and dining room, with its high ceilings and old world charm. The beds were comfortable and the room came with its own coffeemaker and also cosy little kettle. The breakfast was tasty with an option for scrambled eggs that's cooked on the spot. Many thanks! for a great stay.

I had problems opening the wardrobe in the bedroom as the door seemed stuck unless you gently yank it. Unfortunately, the windows and door do not necessarily cancel out noise from the streets. It can be noisy sometimes.

Very beautiful hotel, nicely decorated and ideally located in the center of Maastricht. The breakfast was good. we really appreciated that there was no useless shower supplies but only the necessary soap and shampoo in glass refillable bottles, great!

Really disappointed by the fact that it’s a hotel WITHOUT a receptionist. You must check yourself in on a tablet and the key is your phone. It’s always pleasant to be welcomed by someone when you arrive at the hotel and not to have to check yourself in. That’s even more the case given the price of the room!

We booked a total of 7 nights at the hotel to settle our son into university. Unfortunately, we had to make two separate bookings due to a date change. we booked the exact same room category for both bookings, but when we arrived were told that we had to move rooms due to different room categories booked. Turns out that the hotel has garden and city view rooms which is not apparent on booking.com, unfortunately. On other booking engines it is clear that there are rooms with different views. We would have a appreciated a message from the hotel, letting us know that we had booked different rooms for our two stays, to avoid shifting rooms. However, on the day of moving rooms they were very accommodating and had the rooms ready very quickly for us to move our luggage in. Our rooms were lovely but the garden view rooms are much quieter and definitely preferable. The hotel is in a great location right in the center of Maastricht. The staff were friendly and helpful. we would definitely book it again.

The housekeeping service was a little unpredictable and inconsistent, but we didn’t mind.

Cozy and pleasant hotel with a very good location. Our receptionist was charming and was working hard. We had a good stay!

To open a hotel door one needs a smartphone with internet connection. This has advantages (e.g., forwarding the key to a partner), but also disadvantages (e.g., fiddling with your phone while standing in front of the door, or for people without a smartphone in general). There was a small mix-up with our breakfast due to illness of staff, but the hotel was quick to refund us so that was handled well by the hotel.

Great location in the middle of the town. Endless number of restaurants within 10mins walk. very interesting town to walk around. Good breakfast, good WiFi.

Slightly querky access arrangements worked well, when understood. Electronic keys provided for access to the hotel and the room. smartphone essential. Well worth making sure arrival is before 17:00, so that the arrangements can be explained in person. need to book car parking using Q-Park to take advantage of the discount arranged by the hotel.

Property was nice and well positioned. We had a room at the rear of the property with a nice view. The room was big and well appointed.

The wooden floor could have been swept during our week long stay as it was inevitable that bits would come into the room on our shoes especially with it being carnival. Each day as part of the clean a fragrance was sprayed in the room - we think on the bedspread which made me cough a lot! We opened the windows to air the room.

The breakfast was very good and a good choice. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and that really made it. Customers need to be advised that there is self check in and will require a mobile phone to gain app key signature. A fan was very useful in the heat in the bedroom. The court yard garden was lovely and gave a good atmosphere. The hotel called for taxis for you which was so helpful. The staff were outstanding.

A lift would be desirable. Soft cushions on the chair outside.

Great location. Good-sized room. Fridge in room is a big plus.

Airconditioner in room leaked water. I had to pay on arrival even though a pre-authorization had already been charged to my card (the pre-authorization on my card was only reversed the day after I checked in, causing me to exceed the limit on my card; would be better if no pre-authorization was charged). No bathroom mat given until last day, had to use a hand towel in lieu thereof. Towels had stains on them.
