1898 Hotel Colonia En Las Filipinas

1. Check in and check out were both fast and easy. It took no more than 5 minutes. 2. Our room included free use of facilities during stay: pool (max of 2 adults and all kids aged 12 and below) at the 6th Floor, and gym at the 7th Floor. I don't know how much they charge per additional person to use the pool. They provide towels by the way, so that's a plus since you don't have to carry the ones from the room. 3. Location is accessible by foot. It's a 15 to 20-min walk, as reference, from Buendia MRT station should you ever decided to give it a try. 4. Area is near several must-try restaurants in Poblacion; inclusive of their sister-company Filling Station. 5. Room appeared exactly how it is in pictures. The bed is comfortable. Sheets, towels, pillow cases and bathrobes all smelled clean.

I requested for a non-smoking room beforehand but it seems there was none available at the time of check in. They apologized and assured me that the room will be sprayed before use. While the room itself didn't smell of smoke, the hallways sure did. I find this a minor inconvenience since we won't spend much time in the hallways anyway.

The food was great... The staff were courteous and helpful

Just one instance during checkout, when i asked hk staff for a laundry bag and he told me that there is an extra charge for it...i worked in the hotel industry for almost 16 years and never did i asked my guest for any extra cost of items they need specifically if its just a piece or an extra items inside the room...i don't know about the hotels sop but i think sometimes these little things leave an impression on the hotels overall experience...we stayed for 3 days never requested anything significant during the stay...

Amazing Staff. Very clean rooms, and location close to everything. Grab picks up right at the front of the hotel making it super convenient to get around to places beyond those you just want to walk to. Many restaurants and malls nearby. Beautiful pool. We stayed in the Loft apartment the first time and the deluxe rooms the second time. Will stay again-for sure! In hotel coffee spot excellent, and the hotel's restaurant Tia Abuela's also served fabulous food!!! The staff also went out of their way to make my daughter's birthday extra special. Went down for our usual coffee in the morning and they all came out with a SURPRISE birthday cake and sang "HAPPY BIRTHDAY". Super Cool!

Noise outside-but that is to be expected in a big city like Manila. Everything else was fantastic.

It's really a wonderful place to stay in the heart of Makati that gives off old Filipino style vibes from their lobby to their restaurant upstairs. Everyone was very nice in accommodating a parking spot for us as well as a special request for my guest! The A/C works well, the beds are soft and clean. The bathroom is well stocked but the bathrobes were a bit snug LOL The views of the room that we got was SPECTACULAR! Ceiling to floor, almost 180 degrees view from Rockwell, BGC, and Makati!

Their breakfast offerings didn't leave us much to desire, some of the food items seem like they've been left out for hours already so it was a little disappointing that we didn't get to try them out. We did not get to try the pool or the gym, but they looked alright, not run down or anything. Also, their elevators leave you a little claustrophobic but their bellmen were very nice to help us with our luggages so we wouldn't get crowded.

Friendly staff. Clean room. Close to everything you need.

Can't order beer from the swimming pool.

I like the price, the friendliness of the staffs and the amenities. It is super close to restaurants, Starbucks, money changer, 7-eleven, several malls and the heart of Makati City. HOWEVER, I did not know that this is the red light district of Makati! So if you're looking for clubs and "ladies displaying their assets" in the evening, this is the perfect spot for you!

I didn't know that this is the red light district of Makati. It's not for me at least.

The location was convenient and central to most of the places we wanted to travel. The hotel had a great spanish restaurant as well.

There was music from the surrounding parties which you could hear throughout the night, given we were after a quiet room this wasn't ideal. In addition, booking.com gives the option of having breakfast for PHP 450 and pay at the hotel. When we tried to make the payment we were told it was PHP750 pp. At which point we refused to pay the additional amount.

Clean, very friendly staff and just what I needed.

I know it’s common and for safety but in a humid place, being able to leave the room with A/C still on to come back to cool room would have been nice. When you remove the key card from its “place” when leaving the room shuts off all power to the room. You come back to hot and humid and requires more power to cool it back down again.

Loved the location. The pool area was fantastic and the jacuzzi was a very nice extra. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful in all areas of the hotel and restaurant. I will definitely be staying at the 1898 again. The restaurant was a great place to relax and enjoy looking out over Makati. I fully enjoyed my experience at the hotel.

There is nothing that I did not like about the hotel or during stay at the hotel.

Beautiful colonial style lobby, modern room, great 6th floor outside pool area with a view, free room upgrade for one of the two nights I stayed, comfy beds and peaceful and quiet (on 19th floor at least) even though in the middle of street action on P Burgos St.

Ladies at the reception forgot to return my PHP2000 key deposit and I had to ask for it. Let's hope it was a genuine mistake.
