Ilunion Hacienda de Mijas

We had a wonderful time staying here recently. Our room was larger than many rooms we stayed in during our 6 weeks of travelling. We were impressed by the fact that all 6 hotels in this chain, train and employ people with different abilities. Our interactions with all of the staff were positive and they were happy to assist with any requests. A wedding was scheduled for early evening but we were allowed to utilise all of the facilities while the staff were setting up. We liked being further out of the busyness of beaches of Malaga but a quick bus trip down or up to the beautiful hill town of Mijas.

This is a wonderful place for a quiet holiday so there is nothing we didn’t like. We just wish we stayed longer. Congratulations to Illunion, your guests appreciate and support your work in inclusiveness.

The vibe of the whole hotel is beautiful, quiet and calm. My room overlooked the mountains and was very peaceful. The breakfast was very good and very affordable, and the best and most important thing was that the hotel is 10/10 spotless - you can smell the cleanliness as soon as you walk through the door. You will not find one spec of dirt anywhere. You also have the bus outside the door, that is also a pro! Alternatively you can get a taxi for very cheap into town.

Nothing- I would say though, the walls are thin and from 8am you can not lie in. You will hear people talking in other rooms and also the cleaners outside the door hoovering other rooms.

When we arrived our room was not ready. We asked if we could have the choice of another room. The reception were extremely helpful and gave us a room on the front of the hotel with a beautiful view. The rooms are very simple but very clean. We loved the outside area beside the pool and the pool itself was excellent, salt water which was wonderful. The staff were alway busy keeping the garden and the interior in excellent order.

To be honest, I can not fault the hotel and its facilities. It is not a five star but we did not expect that. The breakfasts were a little disappointing, maybe fresh eggs cooked on demand. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel so can not comment on the evening meals.

From start to finish our stay was amazing! The facilities were wonderful, and there were plenty of sunbeds available! Breakfast and dinner were great, and good value for money....there was a huge selection of food to suit every taste. The whole feel of the hotel was lovely, and people got to know each other well. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite at all times....a special thank you to the animation team (Henrique and Paula) who made our stay so much fun! Thank you everyone for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back!

The beautiful courtyard to sit in for lunch and then a drink in the evening. The fabulous pool with ease of access. The new seats in the dining room and eggs to order for breakfast, organised by Angela. The friendliness of the staff and meeting one of the Illunion pin ups - Juan Carlos and reminiscing about the improvements made over the years. The lovely demeanour of the animation team member who encouraged the guests to take part in daily activities. I think he was called Antonio he is from Portugal.

The pool area was well kept and spacious with great views and ample sun loungers. The breakfast was very good with a varied range of food and the dining area was clean and spacious. The room was a very good size and comfortable. I liked the location as it was only a 10 minute drive into Fuengirola and 25 minutes to Malaga or Marbella. The staff were all great especially the entertainment staff who made and effort with the few Brits who were there by speaking in both Spanish and English.

I highly recommend this hotel. Delicious varied breakfast both hot and cold. Very good dinner (also a selection of hot dishes). All in the company buffet for your own choice. The beds in the rooms are very comfortable. Super nice service. They also employ people with disabilities - bravo!!! I used the hotel for the second time and the standard is still at a high level.

The only thing I would change is coffee - from an espresso machine, but not bean, only instant. Otherwise it would be perfect.

Very helpful reception. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel with hourly buses into mijas or fuengirola. Rooms were clean and pleasant, breakfast was nice.

The pool doesn't open until 10am and the gardener was rude when I sat at a table by the pool before 10am. Other than a rude Gardner the rest of the staff were brilliant.

It is a nice hotel in a quiet location. The staff were pleasant & helpful even though our Spanish is limited.

It turned out that the location was too quiet for our two week stay, there was no where to walk to, e.g. another bar or restaurant, easily from the hotel, you had to get a bus or a taxi to Mijas or Fuengirola. Glad we didn't book half or full board as the restaurant food was mediocre. There's not enough pride in the terrace area, it's not cleaned, swept or weeded enough. The bathrooms are in need of a revamp, the mould in the grout is off putting & the shower wasn't screened well so the floor gets flooded.

The exterior of the hotel is beautiful and has stunning views. The pool is amazing. It is close to Mijas Peublo and to a bus stop, so it is easy to get around without a car. It was exceptionally clean and the two ladies who run the hotel activities were lovely.

The room was a little disappointing...it needs a spruce up and an update.
