Hotel Castillo de Monda

We were excited with every single piece of the place: lobby, decoration, room, views, restaurants, food, bars, garden, pool, staff, everything. It's really one of the places you are coming with high expectations, but the place itself, nature around and people inside exceeded it in every single bit.

Probably there is a need for a lager number of sun beds near the pool. We didn't experience any issues, but I saw some guests did. Another point, again didn't bother me, but we stayed there for 2 nights. Though quality of food is great, variety of what you have for breakfast can become boring if you are staying more than 3 nights.

Perfect location and the castle is beautiful. We stayed in a superior room with a large terrace. Eduardo on reception offered a great check-in service and was very friendly. We had dinner in the restaurant both nights and the food was exceptional with a Dutch chef. Waiter service was relaxed and not too formal and gave us great advice on the menu with a smile. Breakfast was varied and freshly cooked. The pool area is small with 14 sun-beds, but we always found a place to sunbathe and the pool is stunning overlooking the mountains. The castle grounds and interior is simply splendid, with so many different features with its moorish look and feel. We will definitely return for the ambiance and culinary delights, backed up by the friendly customer service.

Breakfast music playing hard rock, which is too heavy over breakfast. Lack of pool service for drinks and we had to keep going to the main bar.

Myself and my wife stayed for a week and had an absolutely fantastic time. We loved everything about the hotel. Our room was large, clean and air conditioned with a superb terrace affording wonderful views. The staff were all absolutely fantastic. They were friendly, helpful and the service was first class. The hotel itself is beautiful. Wonderful well kept outside seating areas, lovely garden and fountain, a lovely pool with plenty of sun loungers, and a fantastic restaurant and snack bar menu. The food we had was also excellent. We loved our stay and have already booked another week. Wonderful hotel, wonderful staff!!

I really can’t think of anything we didn’t like!!

We had a fantastic time at Hotel Castillo de Monda. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable (and have an AC for hot days), with a spectacular view. The castillo itself is beautiful, with a lush garden and a refreshing pool and many quiet spots to read a book. There is a wide range of options for breakfast and the restaurant has excellent food. But there also are several other good restaurant options available in Monda. We'd recommend arriving by car (there is plenty of parking space). Big thanks to the great staff, which ensured that we had such a good time.

Room was a good size with a balcony overlooking the town. Quiet location. Terraced garden with lots of seating in various quiet spaces. The bar menu was good and reaosnably priced. I had a massage which was excellent and good value by a physiotherapist who was very knowledgeable.

The drive up to the hotel has 5 hairpin bends on a narrow roads. I left the driving to my partner and they weren't keen to drive it at night. The hotel has lots of steps throughout and would be difficult for anyone with mobility difficulties. There is another narrow road that takes you directly into the town which we walked down and had a stiff climb back up. There are no taxis in the town and although Booking.com says there is a shuttle service, this doesn't exist.

The staff were fantastic and will definitely make us return even if we can only pass through reception and go up to the restaurant . Loved our bath tap which we photographed and sent photo on to our grandchildren. They loved it. I say no more - you have to go and see !

The comfortable bed but only because as I am 5 foot 2 ins , I was on the wooden edge when getting in and out. Solved this by stuffing a blanket between the frame and mattress so the blanket covered the wood. Also, husband went onto our balcony and closed the door which locked him out ! Luckily I was still in the room.

During my stay, I was delighted to find the amenities and services provided by the hotel to be exceptional. The staff was really nice and friendly and made me feel like a valued guest from the moment I arrived. One of my favorite parts of my stay was undoubtedly the hotel's pool. The cool waters were perfect for dipping in with such a hot temperature, making it a great place to relax and unwind. For those looking to soak up some rays as well, the poolside loungers and surrounding scenery added a touch of tranquility to the atmosphere. The restaurant at the hotel was an equally amazing experience. The ambience was cozy, rustic and soothing, complemented by the incredible views overlooking the mountains around us. Not only that, but the food was elegant, creative and delicious, all offered at reasonable pricing. One could hardly ask for a better dining experience. As for the hotel itself, it was comfortable but also demonstrated its history, which added a special charm. The rooms were tastefully decorated and spacious, ensuring my stay was as comfortable as possible. The hotel's atmosphere was a perfect blend of historic and modern, which gave me a unique sense of attachment to the place. In conclusion, the Hotel Castillo de Monda was a fantastic and unique experience. With friendly staff, stunning views, a refreshing pool, great food and a touch of history, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an unforgettable getaway.

Bar and Breakfast room staff and reception particularly helpful Came back to a beautiful clean bedroom after breakfast every morning lovely bathroom and shower lovely desk in room and area to work from in peaceful surroundings and breathtaking views of the Mountains Outside bar area/outside restaurant and pool side beautiful relaxing lovely ambiance surroundings very pretty beautiful gardens flowers very private and stunning views of Monda and the mountains. Very good bar menu and good value. entertainment some days (guitar etc) 10 minute walk down and back to Monda to local bars and restaurants and good supermarket and ATM machines Highly recommend Cafe Bar Luna (Paella served on Sunday). bus time table on request from hotel to Marbella (one hour) but good value at 2.06 euro one way and lovely views down to Marbella. Bus service very good but not as frequent as the coast. Taxis available on request. Taxi brought me to and from airport and very reliable. (40 mins only approx. from airport)

Maybe the wine could be a little better value

The staff is amazing, they definitely made my stay super good! All of them are very nice, helpful and funny! The location and the hotel is very beautiful. The salt water pool was amazing with beautiful views. Food both in the hotel restaurant and bar are top notch, drinks also very good. All in all a lovely stay!

The breakfast wasn’t very fresh, fruits and veggies seemed quite old and manky. The way up to the hotel is a bit difficult with both car and walking (very steep uphills).

The personell, especially Jorge and Luis (?) were super good and attentive! Fantastic views and surroundings.

Very small bathroom in the superior. No bathropes in the room and no possibility make coffee in the room, what was little annoying as the breackfast starts at 8.30. When you wake up at 6ish, it is a long time to wait for your coffee. Minibar was there but it was empty and not even basic water provided for the second day. Breakfast little strange that you have to pay extra for basic things as eggs and bacon.
