The room size was generous with a lovely terrace overlooking the ocean, well appointed and comfortable bed. The en-suite bathroom was good with a nice walk in shower. Lovely old building with nice architectural features. The breakfast was well done with a nice selection of choices, as was the dinner which was well cooked and not too expensive. Nice formal dining room with window tables overlooking the gardens. Good wine list. Exceptional size of unheated outdoor swimming pool great to use in the afternoons.

The hallways, lobby, common areas gardens, pools are authentic and beautufully designed. And it was extremely clean.

The hotel is a beautiful hotel but the bed in our room.was on wheels and was uncomfortable for such a beautiful hotel. We spent a lot of money to spend 6 nights here and I couldn't figure out why the bed was like a big camp bed! There was very little choice for breakfast and when trying to find staff in the middle of the day to maybe have a glass of wine and sit in the beautiful gardens, there was never anyone at the bar to serve you. Even tho it claimed to be open all day until 10.30pm. It's a very quiet hotel and the views are beautiful, but if you need to check out San sebastian for dinner then prepare to walk up lots of steps to come home. Or maybe use one of the taxis near the beach.

The hotel is in a beautiful spot on the cliff overlooking the ocean and San Sebastian de la Gomera. The pool and jacuzzi area is great. Nice breakfast (albeit at an extra cost). Incredibly quiet - all we could hear was the wind from the sea blowing in the trees! Nice comfortable and spacious room. Comfortable bed. Lovely garden with beautiful trees and plants, and lots of seating areas. Lovely colonial architecture.

The bathroom could have been better - the showerhead was full of limescale, making water spray out in all directions. Also there was a gap between the screen and bathtub, meaning water would spray out onto the floor while showering. This was visible especially in the architrave which was swollen due to all the moisture and a damp smell. We spotted a cockroach in the bathroom on the first night too (I know this is normal for the climate and area, but I spent two weeks in another place in Tenerife and didn't see one at all). Also, the toilet cistern kept running. Considering the hotel price, there should really be better maintenance in place.

Extensive, beautiful, interesting sub-tropical garden on cliff edge with view of the sea, mountains and town. Characterful old building with attractive inner courtyards and three large lounges. Good sized room. Wide choice of food at breakfast. Staff helpful. Plenty of secure parking outside reception.

At first, our room had a strong unpleasant smell (from the drains?) which was reduced after we complained. The catch on the shutters was broken so they could not be closed properly. Since the half board rate was quite high, the choice was quite limited and some of the dishes were disappointing for the evening meal e.g. large slabs of paté for starter, meat, fish or "granny cake" for dessert, but lack of seasoning, taste and accompanying vegetables as appropriate. Disinclined to drive down into town in the dark for better meals, since the approach roads are narrow with hairpin bends and congested with parked car.

The hotel has a unique style of its own. It's almost as if one visits a castle, or some other royal site. Long couloirs, sitting rooms, decorations, meticulously maintained gardens - it is visible that the owners take pride in their real estate. The rooms themselves (we were able to experience two different ones) are somewhat dark in colors, but it seems appropriate. They are spacious and comfortable and despite a barely working air conditioning in the second, they were very comfortable. Being able to open the doors to face the ocean below was brilliant. In both rooms it was very quiet; we never noticed the presence of anyone else. The pool was also very nice - the best we have encountered on La Gomera - large, clean, not crowded. Breakfast was a good selection of bread, meats, fruits and cooked items (on request). A nice touch was to have personal "picker tweezers" for the breakfast items; probably introduced for anti-Covid measures (not everyone touches the same serving cutlery), but these individual (bamboo?) tweezers could easily be kept for a better hygiene.

In the second room, the air conditioning seemed to just barely work. However, thanks to the breeze, opening windows and the door allowed for effective cooling.

I spent 9 days at this lovely hotel. A fantastic location, beautiful building, stunning gardens. Comfortably furnished room and good bathroom with great water pressure (previous experiences staying elsewhere in the Canaries told me that this is not a given!). I had a first floor room with a balcony overlooking the sea (definitely worth paying extra for this). I was overlooking the ferry port and previous reviews made me worry that perhaps there would be a lot of noise from the ferries coming and going. In reality you could hear a little when the windows were open but when shut there was no sound at all from outside. It didn't bother me in the slightest - in fact I enjoyed seeing different ships come and go - from cruise liners to the impressive three-master on my last day. All the staff I interacted with were lovely - very friendly and efficient. Covid precautions were excellent and I appreciated the high compliance with mask-wearing in public areas (100% compliance from staff, 90% from guests - why are there always a few who think they are above the rules??)

Breakfast was fine but a bit monotonous after more than a week. Hot choices were generally good except for "beans in tomatoes" which turned out to be a rather horrid bowl of tepid tinned baked beans. My room had two single beds that could not be pushed together. I found the mattress way too hard for me, but the firmness might suit other people better. But these were relatively small issues - overall a really good stay.

Beautiful Hotel with marvelous gardens, patios and old buildings. Nice large rooms well decorated, and very nice pool overlooking the sea. Views are incredible on the Teide, city, mountains... A very special place

The staff is nice but not always very efficient. Dinner at the restaurant is very very long. This is a little better at the bar where you can eat outside. Breakfast cannot be taken out of the restaurant (so inside only) and is very expensive. No local exotic fruits proposed when you can buy them for nothing in the city market.

We loved the architecture of the building and the design of the interior, the mood, and the hotel's history. The surrounding gardens were equally fantastic. We also appreciated a big attempt to reduce the use of single-use plastics and be environmentally friendly. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and very beautifully arranged. The island's microclimate was equally intriguing; we drove to the cloud forest.

We wished there were more vegetarian choices on the menu for dinner.

The decor and ambience of hotel was lovely. Very clean . Staff polite and friendly. Gardens beautiful and lunch was wonderfully, especially the octopus. We decided to have breakfast in our room on the balcony overlooking the sea view down to the harbour. We were in no rush and even though it was delivered to our room a little late, reception called ahead to let us know they were running behind schedule.

Nothing we didn't like, maybe dressing gowns would be a nice addition to the spacious rooms.

Poirot himself could have stayed here. The location set on the steep hillside is superb with views out to sea and the sound of pebbles on the beach below to fall asleep to. The building itself is almost a hundred years old, very well maintained and clean. The ambience of the whole hotel is relaxed and staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is great.

Dinner service was very busy so it was quite late when we ate.
