The Golden Crown Hotel

We stayed at the Golden Crown for 18 days. We chose this hotel as a base to explore the sights around Kandy. The hotel is a 30 minutes walk from the center of Kandy and Kandy Lake. The view from the room is very pretty, with hills covered by lush topical vegetation. The hotel is spacious and comfortable with an infinity pool and a well-equipped gym. The restaurant is spacious and beautiful, and it provides with a buffet breakfast as well as a buffet dinner. Food is great and varied, with a wide a selection of Sri Lankan, Indian and international food. In view of the length of our stay, we benefitted from an upgrade to a bigger room. The room was spacious and comfortable with a balcony The cleaning team was very good, and the best we have experienced in our stays in different hotels in South East Asia. Our stay at the Golden Crowne would not have been the same without Tharanga, from the hotel management, who was professional, attentive, and helpful. My wife was sick and he provided support and invaluable help, scheduling a visit to a local hospital to see a doctor and providing for a driver to take us there. He also advised and helped in organizing our visits to the most interesting sights around Kandy. Since we stayed in The Goden Crown hotel for so long, Elsworth, the General Manager, organised a beautiful and delicious farewell dinner for us on the hotel rooftop, where Ravi attended to our service. We highly recommend this hotel where we felt at home and well taken care of.

The hotel's quality was absolutely spot on, with stunning surroundings and well-kept facilities that added a touch of luxury to my visit. I've got to give a shoutout to Tharanga guest relations, a real legend on the team. He's got this fantastic attention to detail, making sure every aspect of my stay was smooth sailing. The whole experience was made even better thanks to his welcoming attitude.

Stepping into the Golden Crown Hotel felt like entering a tropical paradise! Lush greenery draped over balconies, sparkling infinity pool reflecting the sun, and the scent of frangipani filling the air. From the first moment, though, the beauty paled in comparison to the warmth of the staff. Taranga, one of manager's, greeted us with a smile so bright it could have chased away monsoon clouds. He checked us in with the efficiency of a hummingbird, all while making us feel like long-lost friends. Thanks to you Taranga, the Golden Crown wasn't just a stunning hotel, it was a home away from home. We left feeling like we'd discovered not just a hidden gem, but a new family!

In many a large hotel, you're just another guest. Here I felt the service was personal. Every member of staff went out of their way to look after you. From housekeeping regular checking you had enough water in your room, to reception calling to give you a heads up they had a function on and that there maybe some noise (there wasn't). Breakfast, the spread was the most diverse I've ever seen. Ravi in restaurant was very friendly and helped us with tips for our trip. Our room was beautiful, the bed was a dream and the views were wonderful to wake up to every day. Good gym, pool best before 12 if you want the sun, there's ping pong and table football to amuse you and a spa to indulge you. Take a torch if you're going out at night but otherwise grab a tuktuk. And if you're reading this, in two minds about coming to SL because of the political situation, we've been in SL for a week, I've felt incredibly safe, locals are friendly. They've got beef with the Government, there has been absolutely no animosity towards tourists, I'm so glad we came. It's a beautiful place.

I'm not sure how to describe the quality of our stay in the Hotel. I could simply summarise it as "heaven on earth". Such a pleasant experience we had over there. I stayed with my parents and they were surprised at how wonderful a time they had. I have stayed at many hotels around the world and I could conclude one of my best or maybe the best hotel I ever stayed. Lovely staff who always bear a friendly smile. I was planning to stay 3 nights, but the quality of the hotel convinced us to extend our stay. The hotel restaurant food was amazing and super delicious. There is a selection of dishes you can please with and trust me you do not want to go anywhere to have your meals in Kandy. The infinity pool was clean and with a great view of the paddy fields and mountains. The spa in the hotel was an amazing experience too. My mum still talks about how cosy experience she had over there. I wish to thank all the staff who made our holiday a wonderful one. Special thanks go to Santhush, Thusharn, Gayani, Sam, Lakshita and Yuraj (who did wonderful housekeeping). I forgot the lady name who provided us the suggestions on where to go on day trips. It was a great suggestion and we enjoyed it. Thank you for that. I admire the support and care of the staff. There were so many other wonderful people I met there but can't remember all of their names, I wish to thank all of them for their wonderful hospitality. The hotel facilities were great and super clean hotel. For Sure, I will come back next time when I am in Sri Lanka.

Nothing to complain. Sad that holiday was finished and have to leave.
