Hotel Ambassador

Rooms were clean and modern. They also offered a "quiet room" choice. We were given free passes for the tram and mountain lifts in the area. Although we didn't use them, they offered free spa, pool and workout facilities. Free parking on a first come first serve basis (the spaces are very small and it takes some maneuvering to park).

The toilet is separate and rather small, had probably 10 centimeters on each side. It was enclosed in glass walls with a sliding glass door which did nothing to muffle "toilet noises". The shower and sink were in a room which had no door, whose entrance was fully visible through to the bed area. My husband and I went with our 26 year old son. I had to change my clothes in the tiny toilet area or when I showered, in the roomy shower cubicle. I would not recommend this room for people who aren't very mobile - the shower wall is about a meter high and requires some care to enter and exit.

Friendly staff, clean and nice rooms, and as a family we specially appreciated getting two communicating rooms! We also enjoyed the travel voucher for public transportation, which was a perfect fit with the "tram" line stopping just in front of the hotel and leading you to the center of Bern in no time.

(As a general comment, not really a complaint, and this is common to all hotels in general... the limitation to 1x continental breakfast formula especially when travelling with younger kids isn't really appealing as the kids don't eat for that amount, and most of the time, we seek for a simpler formula with a coffee/hot chocolate and a croissant).

Excellent location just outside the city center of Bern easily accessible by tram. Nice view on Gurten mountain and very clean room full of toiletries and a mini bar. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they provide us with maps and free tickets for the city center. They also helped in giving us a phone charger that we forgot. It's worth mentioning that there's a parking space available for the guests free of charge.

There was a bit of smell of smoke in the room, maybe left from previous guests.

Excellent hotel located in a qute residential area. Very practical option of combining two rooms into one section with a joint outer door -- really good with children, who can have their own space, but are still near. Very comfortable beds. Great windows from floor to the ceiling with really good view on the neighborhood. Spa was very pleasant, good temperature in the sauna, clean pool. Parking both under the hotel and outside and is free of charge.

Bathrooms were basically a part of the room, they are on a smaller side and ventillation in there was no good.

The room was clean and the staff were helpful and professional. The check-in process was straight forward and the current hygiene regulations were respected. Free parking was a major bonus. A public transport voucher was offered for the first 24 hours and the location of the tram into town just next to the hotel was very practical. The hotel is close to the river, has a view of the parliament and is close to the Gurten which has a beautiful city view and a range of easy and pleasant walks. The beds were medium comfortable.

The WiFi (sixth floor) was VERY weak and often lost connection altogether. More pillows would have been very helpful. The shower was in a sitting bath, which can be challenging to get into for accessibility - the bath part did not have a plug and it can therefore not be used as anything but a shower. If travelling with more that one guest, an additional key requires a 120chf cash deposit!!! Not brilliant. They use physicals keys, not key cards. The toilet room was small, it was very narrow making some related functions a little less practical. (This was in a separate part to the shower.)

I enjoyed the large contemporary room with huge windows and a stunning view of Bern, the Bundeshaus and surrounding mountains. Dinner at the Japanese restaurant was fun and delicious. I enjoyed the sauna and pool. The complimentary robe, towel and slippers was a nice touch. Free parking in the garage is a plus as well as the tram stop right in front of the hotel. All personnel were friendly and helpful.

Although Hotel Ambassador is the suburbs, it’s easily accessible. Tram No 9 (towards Wabern) outside Bern Main Station took us to Schönegg in just over 5 minutes, and the hotel is right opposite! Great customer service - we were given our booking code to download the BernWelcome app so that we had a pass for free public transport as soon as we arrived in Bern and during our stay. It’s perfect for sightseeing! Our room at the back of the hotel was comfortable and quiet. The view from large floor to ceiling glass window was fantastic with far off views of the iconic landmarks and snow-capped mountain!

We particularly liked the parking garage and the possibility to charge our car, combined with receiving the free tram tickets. We enjoyed taking the tram as it was super convenient. The staff was very friendly and it was great that there were two options for breakfast. We had a great view from our room on the 7th floor and the room was very modern.

Convenient tram stop outside hotel. Room air conditioning worked well. Large elevator cabs. Fun restaurant.

Rooms are unusual. One of our rooms did not have bathtub area that could be closed off from rest of room and you would have to towel off in front of others. Our 2nd night a drunk neighbor woke us up with noise and vomiting. Security was able to quiet them down but there were no apologies from staff when we checked out.
