Hotel Hirschen - Grindelwald

The reception is professional and nice. I would say that is the best thing about the hotel. You get all the information here on the spot, you can even buy ski tickets and they advise you where to go and what to do. Furthermore, the hotel is in the center of Grindelwald, very well located, and it has its own parking lot on the other side of the street, which is very convenient. The bus station is 20 meters from the hotel and takes you in a few minutes to the terminal from where the gondolas and ski lifts go to the various slopes. There is a grocery store next to the hotel as well as coffee shops and a sports store where you can rent skis and sledges - all within 50 meters.

Although the rooms are large and spacious (wooden construction), the beds are very soft - probably already worn out. We, but also other friends who stayed at the hotel, did not sleep well either, i.e. we often tossed and turned during the night. The breakfast was ok, but there is no kitchen in the sense that you can order something - it is a relatively modest buffet where you can help yourself.

no air conditioner in the rooms, visited in early September it was too hot to sleep and windows don’t open fully. the wood bedding kept hitting my legs.

Every staff member we met was super friendly and welcoming! The breakfast was amazing as well and we even ate dinner there which was delicious too! Pretty good view of the mountains as well (about half of our balcony) which was a huge plus. I think it is actually super neat that to turn on the lights and plugs, you have to use your key card in order to save electricity for when you leave the room.

We had to keep our windows open to keep the room cool and in the middle of the night, it got loud occasionally so we had to close them to be able to sleep. Not a big deal though!

Amazing breakfast with juicer complimentary. Perfect and walkable location in between Grindelwald First and Grindelwald station. We traveled with a backpack only for 1 night. Quiet and lovely staff. Was nice to have a desk and comfy chair. Great storage and spacious cozy balcony. Would stay again! Thanks Hirschel hotel!

Perhaps shampoo / condition and body lotion would be nice. Wasn’t sure what the soap was in the dispenser but worked for an “all purpose”. Very very soft bed so would not recommend for someone with back issues that may need or prefer a firmer mattress. Although we enjoyed a great night’s rest

The breakfast was lovely and the staff were always ensuring we had enough to eat and drink! We stayed in the love room and it was incredible. It was so spacious and a great layout, the beds were comfortable, the bath was just what we needed after a few days of long walks and they provided us with bath salts! The balcony had beautiful views and was really spacious. We also tried the sauna and foot bath for only 15chf each and we had the place to ourselves, it felt like we had a private session! Overall it exceeded our expectations and the staff were so helpful with our questions and making our stay the best it could be. I will recommend this to everyone staying there!

The sliding door to the toilet? It was a bit difficult to open sometimes. Also, maybe include other features in the room like a candle, just to make the atmosphere more romantic.

Staff are extremely friendly. Room is clean and tidy. Convenient location just 5 minutes walk from the train station. My friend and I left the room key in the room and could not return to the room in one morning and was about to race in the next hour. The restaurant lady offered great help to us to proactively call the front desk staff and manager to solve the problem. Luckily the manager was back like 30 minutes after the call and we really appreciated for the help. Great value of money and definitely recommend to stay.

great location, close to stations and all kinds of shops .

One of the staff was pretty ignorant. For one example, we asked her for some ice cube and she said no right away, then the next day we asked the other staff who was kind enough and offered to look for us and actually gave some ice cubes. I’ve seen some reviews about the staff situation and couldn’t believe it’s true, quite disappointing considering the high prices for the rooms.

The reception staff were excellent, looking after a bag for me while I went for a week ski touring. Excellent selection of food at breakfast.

Reception hours and breakfast could have been earlier as I needed to be on the first lift for the ski tour. I also incurred the wrath of the restaurant manager depositing my bag behind the reception desk, evidentially a faux Pas. I was only trying to be helpful as she was busy attending guests. But my good intentions were lost in translation.

The customer service was great. We also enjoyed our breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant. The hotel was in a good location and not far from the train station too. We arrived in our car and was able to park near by. Will definitely come back if we go to the Alps again!

Our 1st night when we arrived, there was a street party going on right out side of the hotel which was not the hotel’s fault but we were kept up till 3:30 am due to a large and very loud group leaving the disco across the street. 😩 Other than that, no complaints.

If you opt for a mountain view, you get a balcony looking over the mountains and the main street however this isn't a problem for noise as you hardly hear the road. Staff were polite and pleasant and always made us feel welcome. The room was tidy and cleaned everyday to a high standard when we returned. Great mix of food for breakfast also , stuffed ourselves ready for a day of activities.

Wasn't anything to dislike, I feel I'd be nit picking if i did.
