Hotel Engel

The lady at the receptiion is wonderful and friendly and she really makes you feel welcome. The breakfaat is varied, you have a restaurant with great food if you get hungry from 5 pm. We rented bikes for 3 days and kept them in the hotel garage. Lots of free parking space. Everything is well organized and runs really smoothly. There are trails for hiking and cycling all around the hotel, just look for the little sign posts and they'll tell you where you are going and how far it is. Oh, and you get the summer card. Buses are free, outdoor swimming pools, cable cars....

We got a main road oriented room so it was a bit noisy until the traffic settles down and then early morning again.

The bus stop to/from Bregenz is right across the street from/next to the hotel entrance. It was very nice we did not have to take the car to Bregenz. It was a quiet place with large rooms, good breakfast, and sauna/wellness facilites.

The operating hours of the wellness/sauna facilites was not clearly marked/explained to us. Also, coming from Eastern Europe, it would have been nice to know if the sauna/wellness are was textile free or not. But in the end we had a busy schedule, and would have been unable to use it anyway.

The Hotel has nicely sized rooms and and the wellness area is well done. The breakfast has a really high standard with a large selection of meat, cheese, bread, muesli. There is even fresh fruit salad and fresh fruit. The food in the Restaurant is also very good and they have an amazing patio that has sun most of the day. There are plenty of hiking, cycling options starting in front of the house

The value for the money is really high. The rooms with balcony face the main road so there is some noise from traffic which in my opinion is not an issue when the windows are closed. The mattresses seem to be a bit worn out or really cheap as you can feel the springs.

Convenient location in the Bregenzerwald - beautiful hiking area, just near the Bregenzerwald Käsestrasse (cheese street), yet only twenty minutes from Bregenz and Lake Constance. Well appointed rooms with balconies, immaculately clean. Excellent buffet breakfast. Sauna facilities. Onsite parking.

Reception desk was not staffed in the mornings, only after 15:30 in the afternoons.

The hotel is very good maintain, clean and comfortable. The personal were willing to help and friendly. The food was tasty with quality ingredients. Sauna area better than other 4 star hotels visited in the region. I loved the traditional look of hotel, it is giving you the feeling of holiday. For sure we will come back here.

You can hear the traffic noise from the room but during night the traffic is reduced so no big issue for us.

Staff was warm and accommodating (English speaking), the location was easy to find with parking out front. Close to town with grocery and sporting goods stores nearby. Ate dinner at the cozy restaurant. The food and service were both really good, and the menu has lots of options. Great breakfast spread. Standup shower with good water pressure. Ample storage space in room, and mine had a nice balcony.

Nothing, I had a great stay. Would note how they do have Austrian style bedding and pillows (because it is Austria, after all). It does not bother me, but it is a consideration for those who may need a specific type of bedding/pillow with a top-sheet.

The location is really good. There is a bus stop just across the hotel. It takes you to Bregenz in around 10-15 minutes. There are also connections to other towns nearby. Alberswende is a nice place. You can rent bikes at Inter Sport. The hotel is located on the main road but our room had a garden view so it was great for sleeping. The hotel is clean and very spacious. Their breakfast is excellent and they also serve dinner from 4 to 9. We ate there once but we weren't really impressed. However, there is an inn just across the road and the food is brilliant. The prices are also reasonable. We loved it there. Back to Engel, the lady at the reception spoke English, and really well too. She was very helpful and friendly. Generally, in this part of Austria it is rather difficult to communicate with people if you don't speak German. Tourists are mainly Austrian, German, Swiss and a Dutch number plate can be seen here and there, but that's pretty much it. To sum up, we loved our stay at this hotel and would gladly return sometime in the future.

Very friendly staff. Free access to health suite with a super sauna and steam room. Outstanding breakfast - the best during our three week road trip. Very pretty area.

The restaurant was closed during our stay and there was nowhere close by to eat or even get a drink which meant another drive after already spending all day in the car!

So as we traveled by car, getting to the hotel was not difficult, and the winding picturesque road along a small serpentine through the forest made the trip even more interesting. Breakfast was super: sliced ​​meat, cheese, eggs, fruit, pastries, drinks will give you a good charge for the day.

Ferry is one of the male staff who helped us when we checked in. Even though he was busy with serving at the restaurant he made sure we checked in before he continued serving. He was very polite and very professional. Loved the breakfast. Hotel was very nice, cozy and clean.
