Yantra Grand Hotel

The hotel has free parking a few hundred meters away (this is a big plus for Veliko Turnavo as finding parking there is hard), also they drive you to and from the parking and help you move the luggage. The room was nice and clean, spacious enough for 2 of us and a 3 month old baby, a plus was the comfy bed. I appreciated the good internet connection and access to the pool and Jacuzzi, The best part though was the breakfast which is served in a very nice hall with a stunning view, eating good food looking at that scenery was something else.

The overall appearance of the hotel and facilities looks dated, all is in fair condition but you don't feel it's a 4stars hotel.

Parking is a gamble but is not a dealbreaker as the hotel staff can move the car to a remote guarded parking.

The staff was very friendly, helpful and fluent in English (even the maids). The view from the hotel's restaurant is amazing. The room was large, with not very new but well maintained furniture and appliances. The indoor pool was always warm and though relatively small, it was not crowded, had a jacuzzi where the kids could also play safely. The breakfast included in the price was excellent and very diverse. We had 2 other meals at the resutaurant and they were pretty good each time and at a very decent price. Everything was very clean and cozy and the hotel is located near to sightseeing points, good restaurants and shops.

Our room faced the street which was very noisy, we needed earplugs to sleep even with the windows closed. It was extremely hot and we had to open the windows a lot. The extra pliable bed was not very stable and would fall apart occasionally. The parking in front of the hotel can only accomodate a few cars, so ours had to be parked about 10 minutes walk away. There was a hotel car with a driver available each time we needed to get there, though. We were a little dissapointed on the last day of our stay, as nobody was bothering to refill the trays and there were even no more towels at the pool (even though there were 2 people there). As I understand, most of the customers were leaving that day :)

This is the second time I stay at this hotel. The first time, a few years ago, I was not very satisfied. This time, however, everything was perfect: - the location is perfect - private parking - very friendly reception staff - nothing bad to say about cleanliness - the breakfast was excellent - the view from the window to the fortress was superb

- the only negative thing would be that even if the room was VIP, it was on the top floor and did not have a balcony, some rather high internal steps and small windows and located quite high, problematic for a child or a short or elderly person

The Panorama Balcony beside the restaurant is fantastic. I enjoyed a coffee there each morning after the more than adequate breakfast. My room was very nice, the bed was comfortable and the wifi was good. Location couldn't really be better - both for the old town of VT and the view at the back. The view was exceptional and greatly added to the pleasure of my stay.

The hot water was not regulated and was intermittent - it could go from super hot to freezing cold in a moment and back again. Not only is this unpleasant but it is also a danger. Although it is nice to have a small swimming pool, the jacuzzi needs fixing. Also the sauna should be included in the price of the stay. Also, if a coach load of tourists turn up all at once the limited lift capacity is a bit of a problem.

Pros: large room with comfortable beds, clean, good cosmetics, nice light. I think the room with even number have the view over the citadel/cathedral. We had a room with odd number that had the windows over the street. LOVED the spa. We had hot stone massage, scrub plus relaxation massage and a facial hydration. It was absolutely sensational. The lady has magic hands. Good breakfast, tasty coffee and panorama restaurant is very nice.

Cons: there is no hanger in the bathroom and there are no separate towels for the sauna or pool. There are bathrobes and slippers. The check in is after 2 pm, and the parking lot in front of the hotel has only 12 places, there is a bigger space 5-700m down the road.

We stay in the VIP apartment with 2 bedrooms on the 4th floor. The apartment has an amazing of the castle. The aprtment is very spacious for 4 of us. I particularly liked the bed, which was super comfy. The hotle provideds a free bottle of miniral water, which was very nice. The hotel is in a prime location, close to the castle and to the town centre. The breakfast was very reasonable.

We had free access to the swimming pool and jacuzzi pool. However there was extra charge for steam room and sauana room. I wished there was fresh juice for the breakfast but the juice was just squash.

Amazing views out of our (apartment) room windows. The room was huge (2 bedrooms plus a living room), which made it great for our family of four. The place needs some renovation and the female staff members in the restaurant and bar were quite gruff. But, overall, a great place to stay, great location, and the parking - right in front of the hotel on an otherwise busy street - was superb.

The more senior women in the breakfast/bar area were gruff. The pool is also too small for a hotel if this size and there were only three chairs, so it was quite awkward if other people arrived to swim, too.

Very spacious rooms, large and comfy beds; great location right in the city center, easy to walk to the main attractions. Free parking available in front of the hotel. Good breakfast with a variety of dishes and sweets, and also amazing view from the restaurant window. Very nice pool and jacuzzi, nice staff at the wellness area. We can also recommend the restaurant Shtastliveca ("The Lucky One") ( and EGO as well) , which is not far by and has amazing food.

We should have booked a longer staying

-The room was big and clean -The breakfast was ok. Also the restaurant has some delicious dishes for lunch or dinner. -The hotel has some parking places, if you come here with the car. -A nice panorama with Tsaravets could be viewed from the restaurant.

-At night, you could hear noises from the street (motorbikes, cars) even if the windows were closed. -The shower was partially broken, The water didn't just flow only through the shower head. I think some inspection is needed to check that the equipment's are working properly.
