The Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls

The room was nice and the view was better than expected - I don't recall upgrading my stay for a better view so I was pleasantly surprised! I was happy with the location and overall experience with my stay - I knew that the price we paid would reflect in the hotel so I was not expecting all the bells and whistles anyway, but everything the hotel had was sufficient for my stay.

The only thing I can think of (and this is not a complaint, because I expected it going into my stay) was that the hotel served a very utilitarian purpose only. The room lighting was minimal at best (the big windows really saved us) and the washrooms were very simple, outdated even, so the hotel was really only meant for sleeping. There is a pool if you choose to use it, but besides that, I don't think you would be staying at the hotel to do much. There is nothing wrong with this fact, I just thought it would be helpful to mention!

Niagara falls view from our room was amazing! Also could see fireworks at night. Free coffee and tea anytime at the lobby area was great service. Location is perfect to visit Niagara falls and town on foot! Check-out was easy and fast, just giving the card keys back to concierge!

Reception is always lots of people and took time to ask something. Room was bit old (especially sofa and bathroom), view was amazing though. Parking was expensive (around $40 or $45 for a night) and receptionist didn't tell us on arrival that we need a card key to go in. So my partner had to come back for the key.

We had a fabulous view of the falls, on the 20th floor, which was the most important feature for us. Our room was renovated, quiet and spacious. The free coffee and tea available in the lobby were really good, and a nice bonus--much better than having a coffee-maker in the room.

The lineup at check-in was very slow and long. Four people were working at it, but they said it is always like that at check-in time--so more workers are needed! We didn't want to waste so much time waiting when we had just arrived for a short stay! AN IMPORTANT NEGATIVE COMMENT IS THAT THE SHOWER SHOULD HAVE A GRAB BAR. We think all showers in hotels should have such a safety feature, especially in a place where there are many seniors and people with disabilities. There was a grab bar to help in stepping in to the jacuzzi bath, which was essential. A box of tissues in the bedroom and in the bathroom was expected and would be appreciated. Our bathroom sink was not draining well (we did report this at checkout).

View was spectacular. Room was very nice. Pillows were hard lumps, alas. Honestly, they should be replaced. Written correspondence with the hotel prior to our visit informed me that yes, the sauna was open. In fact, the sauna was closed. The exit gate arm from the parking lot was open 24 hours a day, allowing anyone to drive in and park at the hotel from the rear. I informed staff one day, yet nothing was done 24 hours later. Furthermore, the back entry door into the hotel from the parking lot is available for anyone to enter any time. In my opinion, even though there is a person at the desk at all times, the security in this hotel is compromised.

I liked how clean it was and the AC was working i say that cause previous stays at different hotels always gave us AC issues. The hotel location, the view everything was good. I did not except the view to be far from the falls but no issues.

One thing i did not like was that the moment you enter into the suite the bathroom sink is right there as it is located outside of the washroom door. It was a little hassel cause when you go to the bathroom you want everything to be there to do your business and come out, in this case you have to do half on the front foyer and the rest in the washroom. I have never seen hotels this way so it was a unsual experience.

The room was very large and spacious, with big windows. The view from the windows was unbelievably beautiful, and I even had an excellent view of the fireworks :). The room cost me a small fortune and I can honestly say it was worth it. Overall, I was definitely happy with the hotel and am glad I chose it.

I was disappointed that there was no daily housekeeping. Another inconvenience was that there were steps leading from the main parking lot to the hotel, which is hard for those of us with heavy luggage. They should definitely put in a ramp. Other than that, I don't have a bad word to say about the hotel.

THE VIEW FROM THE ROOM WAS AMAZIJNG. I LITERALLY can't stop thinking about it. JACUZZI EVERY Night. I think the photos on the website of the view from the room didnt do it Justice. Great shared experience with my family.

Location and the Falls view. absolutely amazing. The money that we paid was comparatively lower than other hotels with the same view. Ample Parking space. Confortable beds to our surprise as we aere not expecting.

I gave my insulin bag at the counter to be placed on refridgerator. While going back, the staff at the reception was rude and said that record is showing nothing without looking at it. I told her that I gave it to the lady last eveining and she was like tell me the exact lady. I said I dont know your full staff, you can check by check-in timings, she refused to do so. Cleaness was noy up to the mark. It can be improved. Renovation work was being carried out openly without proper sgn.

It was conveniently situated near all the attractions and restaurants, making it easy to explore the city. Whether I wanted to visit the falls up close or enjoy a delicious meal at a nearby restaurant, everything was within walking distance. The staff at the were friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any queries or requests. Their professionalism added to the overall positive experience of my stay. In conclusion, my stay was nothing short of spectacular. The combination of a spacious and comfortable room, an awe-inspiring view of the falls, and a perfect location made it an unforgettable trip. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to experience the beauty and wonder of Niagara Falls. I can't wait to return for another visit.

While my stay was wonderful overall, I was disappointed with the late check-in time of 4:00 pm as I had hoped for an earlier check-in.

Great location! Friendly staff and clean rooms.

Just little things like the the toilet paper dispenser on the wall was broken, the drawers for the dresser would not stay on the track, making it difficult to use and the bathroom shelf was broken but usable. We actually had 2 different rooms(due to poor, planning on my part), the second room had no problems at all. The first room was nice and clean, but like I said, just a few little things were annoying but it didn’t ruin the room.
